I like good 3rd person view, but it's been my experience that "good" 3rd person view is relatively rare. I'm not a huge FPShooter gamer, but I'm getting to appreciate the first person view more (Oblivion and Fallout).
I didn't finish FEAR, I only got a couple chapters in, but it did have a few 'jump out at you' type scares and had a creepy atmosphere. |

Why would you make a post about 2 articles that are a year and a half old?

Can I start a thread about that awesome Pong game? After all, I haven't seen much discussion about it here.

I want a Japanese Xbox 360 for my birthday. :(

Lost Planet is 3rd person by default. However, it doesn't give one the option of FP play. ;)
Regarding the old surge protector article... if 90% of the complaints were coming from users who plugged it directly into the wall, they'd say you have to use a surge protector. I think nearly 100% of users who complain use the system to play some form of disc, the obvious answer is to either leave it off or only play XBLA games. |

Quick story. My bro got a 360 for Xmas from the rents. The parents both got us NHL 09, so I was happy about that. I walked in the door on XMas and my bro was playing it on his 360. And the first thing I saw was his 360 was set up vertically.
I was like "Dude, you should probably put that 360 horizontal, it's gonna scratch your disk." My mom says "At Best Buy we tell people to put them that way." Me: "It'll scratch the disk, trust me." He pulls out the disk. It is absolutely scratched to shit. He had to get it replaced, luckily since we had 2 copies, I just let him install mine and put his crapped out disk in the drive to play. |
His disc got scratched that bad in a matter of hours? Wow.
|
We're talking 1 hour or less. It had a noticeable scratch about 1/2 way around it in a semicircle and wouldn't load the game from the disk.

Mod Note: This was pretty much uncalled for, and therefor edited. Anymore posts like this one was and you'll find yourself on suspension. |
Did he move the unit with the disc spinning?

On XBOX.com how do you check if anyone has left you feedback (the stars). I swear I was able to click on the stars before and get info, i.e. 0 people say I disconnect, 0 people said poor sportmanship, etc.) and I can't find it anymore. Thanks! :)

The only way I know of is to hit the Guide Button on the controller to get the mini blade and go to Profile to see your feedback. |

Why? What's the difference between the US and Japanese versions since they both can play the same games?

Japanese games are region locked, there's no other way to play imports.

Is that right? Is that just for the Japanese version? I know there are often deals on Asian versions of games that can play on US 360s.

Does anyone else have problem getting their xbox to play in surround sound? I have never been able to get my surround sound to work with the 360. My xbox broke this month, so I bought a new one last weekend. The surround sound did not work on this one either. I called Msft and they said to take it back and get another one. I took my new xbox back and got a newer one, my surround sound still did not work. I also then picked up some monster cables on clearance with optical on there. Still did not work. I've checked my settings and they are all correct.
My surround sound system worked with the original xbox, I just can't figure out how to get it to work with the 360. I'm thinking that there is something wrong with my optical output on my receiver. Is there any other way to hook up my xbox to surround sound? |

Never had a problem with mine. Hooked up an optical cable from the 360 to my Kenwood receiver and it works great.

Is there anything else you can plug into that optical input on your receiver (maybe a DVD player)? How do you know it doesn't work? Does no sound come out, or do you just get stereo? Is your receiver configured correctly?

I don't have anything else to plug into it. It's one of those dvd/redceiver all in one home theatre systems. It worked with original xbox, but has not worked with 3 different 360's. I know it doesn't work because i get no sound coming out of the surround sound speakers. I have 4 settins to choose from. DVD, AV 1, AV1, and Tuner. I've tired both AV1 and AV2 and neither are working.
Or Does your recevier have secondary outputs, like for another set of speakers, called ROom B or something? On my old receiver, if that option was enabled, then the main room's surrounds were turned off, yet the fronts still worked. If that's the case, toggle the option. |
Just one optical port. The receiver has the dvd player built into it.
It has component, s video, RCA outputs. Also for the sub woofer. I'm not sure what else is on there, I'm at work right now. The manufacturer is Koss. |
There also might be a setting you are missing. A friend of mine just had this problem after he moved a couple months ago.
|
A setting like in the menu system? It just makes no sense to me how it would work on the original xbox, but not with the 360. the set up is the same.
|
I'm assuming you're using component cables.... Make sure you unplug the sound cables and only have the optical and video going from the 360 to the receiver/dvd player... this will allow you to see if the stereo sound you're getting is coming from the optical cable. Otherwise, yeah, I'd double check the settings. Most receivers are able to "choose" which audio input is used for a particular video input, it may be that it's setup wrong. If possible, try to bring your original Xbox out to see if it works.
Since it's happened to multiple 360s, I doubt it's your console. I'd say maybe the optical cable is busted, but that would be rare... can you see the red light coming out of the end of it when the console is on? |
