Netflix is Live but you can't use it unless you have the NXE installed (i.e. in the preview program). Otherwise you will be able to use it starting on the 19th. $39 for Live is a pretty normal price for Amazon and Newegg. Doesn't go much lower than that.

You could get 2 13-month cards for 49.99 + 24.99 = $74.98 + tax. That would be very close to $39 each on Amazon/Newegg with no wait.
If you could find another $50+ accessory you want anyway (like 4000 MS points or a controller), that might be a better deal.

So how did people get the preview disc? Specially selected from Gold Live members?
How is it? PlayOn sucks big time. Netflix stops playing midstream and I'd have to start it over, Hulu and CBS don't even load, YouTube takes ages. Netflix WIN has gotten so good I'm ok just with that, if it works great.

I'm interested in the avatars and think they will be neat. I do agree with HotThang and would absolutely love to see achievements unlock new accessories and clothes for the avatars.

Then it's either the settings you're using or your internet connection is too slow.
If you are experiencing latent or choppy video playback while using PlayOn, you may want to modify the performance settings to a lower value. This can be especially useful if either your PC processor is a bit slow, or if you are using a home wireless network or broadband connection that is not fast enough. A higher performance setting will attempt to preserve the quality of the videos that are pulled in from the Internet, but will tax your computer and network more. It is recommended that you use the “Auto” setting, as this allows PlayOn to determine which quality setting works best for your setup. If the automatic setting still doesn’t work, try “Low” or “Medium” to see if this helps.

I suggested in another thread that they should give you a t-shirt for every gamerpic you have, with that picture "ironed on". Ditto for the little pictures that go along with achievements.

For those of you who signed up for the NXE preview and didn't get in, check your status at connect.microsoft.com. It seems that some, but not all, people are getting a different message there. Some people on MajorNelson.com said they called NXE support and the reps were familiar with this new message and said that if you had the message and didn't get the email, you were still in for tonight. I'm one of those people.
