Not exactly like you sync other wireless accessories. Other than the control, which I've synced twice in a year, I haven't had any other accessories to sync. And it didn't work like the manual said, I had to fiddle with it and try things that worked when I was getting my bluetooth headset connected to the cell phone. Sorry I'm not up to par on connecting wireless accessories to the XBOX.

No problem, but just take some time in the future to try things out before asking others to do it for you.

Sarcasm just flies over your head, doesn't it.

Can't we all just get along?

If anyone is on the fence over Lips, GET IT. Using your own songs is sooooo much better. Get the lyrics up on Google and you're set. Tried Unchained Melody and I'm Alright (country), and since there's no lyrics, it's so much easier to keep in sync and you still earn points. It is so easy to just stick in a USB stick with all the songs but you do have to add them manually.

My wife loves these games and has most of the Sing Star games. Guess I need to add this to the Christmas list.

There is no pitch detection on your own songs. Therefore the scoring could just be completely random. I'd buy it if the mics were compatible with Rock Band, but unfortunately they're not. :(

I can sing along with songs in my car for free. Why do I need to pay $60 to do it?

GatorDeb 11-24-08 09:34 PM

I can bang on pots and pans using wooden spoons for free, why buy Rock Band?

There's pitch detection. You just don't have the pitch indicator on the screen and no lyrics.

Because then there would be no scoring mechanism?

Do you not see how something like Lips where you bring your own music into the game and it doesn't score you on pitch or give you the lyrics would be perceived as no different than singing along to the CD? It has the video for the purchased songs and for your own tracks it presumably has a cool visualization (like a computer program would) but it isn't really a game. If you enjoy that and like the flashing mics and visualization then awesome. Go you.

However, it's not anything like playing the plastic guitar, synth drums, or a mic where you are being scored based upon pitch.

With regular songs I'm getting about 100 stars per song. With my own I'm lucky to get 10. I'm finding it harder with my songs.

That seems even worse to me.

I was actually cool with imported songs not really being a game (might be fun for parties and the like) but to score the performance without any kind of feedback (too high, too low, etc.) just seems mean.

Which kind of highlights my point - without feedback the scoring just seems mean. It would be like me giving tests to my students and telling them they are passing or failing but not telling them what they are screwing up. It might make learning a language difficult if they are never told they are messing up first, second, and third person.

GatorDeb 11-24-08 09:47 PM

Whoa, I was getting less than 10 stars per song and with Under the Bridge I got 410 stars!! Not even with the regular songs did I get that much. I got 1,475,917 pts and I was getting an average of 500,000 with the regular songs. It liked that song it seems :D

Hey who wants to challenge me (and win) to a song duel? :D

Since you can only buy it with the wireless mics, make that $70.

I agree with you...to a point. There's no pitch indicator however the score meter moves faster the longer you are on pitch. If the score meter isn't moving, you need to adjust. The game is great if you want to have a friendly game of karaoke at your next party and you get scored on how well you sing. Using your own music is a bonus because I'd assume you wouldn't use songs that you don't know the lyrics to. :-)

Even though I do wish the pitch indicator was there for my own songs, not having it there removes the competitive pressure and just makes it a fun game IMHO.

It would be so nice if you could use them in Rockband! LOL

Hotthang did you get it? Want to do a song-off? :D

LOL yes. I don't think my neighbors would appreciate me singing at 11:06 pm though. LOL

GatorDeb 11-24-08 10:10 PM

What are some of your favorite songs to see if I have them? I'm off Tuesday and Wednesday so let me know what's a good day and time for you :D

The problem with the general music thread (and even this thread) is that multiple conversations go on and get jumbled.

Each music game should have its own thread (yes, even Rock Revolution), and the General 360 thread should be about console specific stuff (DRM, hardware mixups, syncing up controllers, etc.).

pinata242 11-25-08 07:33 AM

Multiple threads won't work because the few threads we already have don't work...
