If the DLC was 50 cents you wouldn't see any known bands up for download. Any known songs would probably be cover versions. That money needs to be split several ways: the band, the studio, the development team, the distributer, the MS/Sony/Nintendo, etc. Given that a MP3 is a buck, it makes no sense that the RB version be half as cheap.

Also, the reason that pack-in songs can be cheaper is because everybody who buys the game gets a copy. Whereas with DLC only those interested will download.

I'd rather spend $2.00 points on a song I like, than $2.50 on horse armor.

I agree with all of this....

But would you pay 2.50$ for musical horse armor? I totally would if it wasn't a cover and had been in the Top 40 at some point.

It will take some time to get used to them.

I just got the RB2 drum kit last week, and I've hardly played it so far, in part because I'm kind of wanting to get the cymbals first, so I can learn to play with those from the beginning, rather than have to get used to them later.

The cymbals do make a great game better, but they are easy to adjust to - especially the crash.

I also noticed that the intro sections where you can freestyle maps the cymbals to cymbals, and leaves the pads as toms. Awesome.

Will take that into consideration. Thanks.

Also, what's the general consensus on two cymbals versus three?

Haven't opened my cymbals yet, but I've heard that you cannot just combine a two cymbal and a one cymbal set without some custom work done to mount them... so if at any point you're going to want 3, you might as well go for that set in the beginning.

General Consensus is:
2 Cymbals = The Suck
3 Cymbals = The Awesome

I use a two, and really like it. I'm sure the three would be even cooler, but i didn't feel like waiting. The crash is where it's at mostly though :)

It makes no sense only to have two cymbals, when there are mappings for three. I couldn't stand using only two cymbals (on my Ion), hitting between a pad for Ride and a cymbal for Crash or Hi Hat is just fucking dumb.

it also makes no sense to have the snare on the far left.

As I said - I have the 2 pack, and really like it. Before that I had zero cymbals, and really liked it.

I don't have a snare on the far left. What are you talking about? ;)

I just found it really annoying hitting between pads and cymbals for only cymbal hits.

Then why are you talking about the normal kit and cymbal pack? ;)

I've got a gift card for Best Buy that's right around the same amount as the three-pack, so I'm leaning in that direction.

Because it's still the difference between 4 pads and 2 cymbals or 4 pads and 3 cymbals.

I have the 2 cymbal set, but wish I had 3. Having 2 cymbals is still a lot of fun though. I may just buy the 3 cymbal pack at some point and either sell the 2 cymbals to a friend, or keep them as replacements if one breaks. Right now though, 2 is fine.

Speaking of the cymbal pack, what are people doing to stop the 2 cymbal part from slipping down the pole? Since the screws are only plastic, it doesn't tighten completely.

They actually snap together, but it takes a lot of force. Once you get them to properly snap, they won't slip down anymore.

Not true. I got the 2 cymbal pack the first week they came out, then decided to add the third one a couple weeks ago. Ordered the single pack from Amazon and it comes bundled with everything you need to get all 3 setup properly. (Longer pole than the ones in the 2 pack, Y bracket, and secondary support bracket that holds the blue and green poles together about halfway up.)

My only "gripe" (ie, it's my fault) with the cymbals is that I can't get used to the blue and green essentially overlapping. Almost without fail, if a song is using a consistant ride, then a crash, then back to the ride, I catch my drum stick under the blue pad. I'm sure it's too high, but I haven't found a way to make it more comfortable.

But all in all, the cymbals are just freaking fun.

I have them properly snapped, but it keeps slipping down the pole, even though I tighten the plastic lug very tightly.

That's what she said.

Then stop hitting them so hard :)

I had that problem at first, until I realized I didn't have them on properly. I'm not sure how to explain it. The part on the drums, where they connect to the poles, have a little ridge. The cymbal connectors have a groove in them, that will fit over that. I snapped them on that way, and they stopped sliding. I looked online for a good picture, but I haven't found one yet.

Actually, I haven't even played with the cymbals yet. It's my friends who are hitting them too hard.

Well, I got the 2 pack since a few songs have the red pad as a hi-hat at times. And with how loud they are, I'm glad I don't use one as a hat. So I went with the blue and green. I just wish I could move the red pad. I basically got the damn_cymbals to go thru Foreplay/Long Time so I can alternate hands (like I would on a real kit) instead of left hand snare - right hand cymbals.

Sucks that they aren't taller. Too close to the toms for my tastes. But I'll keep at it. It's pretty interesting to play. I'll have to play around with how to dampen the sound.
