About 720 MB. Oh, and it actually is a download unlike RB1. Not that it makes much of a difference, but you do need to be connected to XBL to get the whole thing and not just a license.

Someone already FC'ed Sin Wagon. -ohbfrank- Some of these guys are insane.

It's $5 regular price, and Target had a sale for 20% off MS point cards for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, around that time. Tons of cards, not a little amount like past sales.

FYI, in case they do it again in the future...it's actually better when they run out of the cards. Then you can get a raincheck which is usually good for like 6-8 weeks. Then you can buy as many you want for $15 over the course of 2 months instead of needing all the money right then and there. :)

The Dixie Chicks song is the only one that sounds like it might be fun, as I think the fast-based country is the way to go here. I think Garth Brooks' "Ain't Going Down Til' the Sun Comes Up" would be a good country pick for the game.

I took advantage of the TRU deal and bought another kit to give the drums one more chance. Able to unload the game and microphone already, but of course the orange fret doesn't work so I have to go back to BB.

1. The RB drums are far superior to GH's, but the cymbals are needed. I apologize to the regs for asking something we have addressed, but are the Madcatz cymbals good? I assume the 2 pack is the way to go?

Thanks!

shumway 12-17-08 12:19 PM

The cymbals are good. I haven't tried the 3-pack, only the 2.

Liver&Onions 12-17-08 12:29 PM

the cymbals make the game seem even more fun, if possible. Nailing hte crash is awesome.

thelwig14 12-17-08 12:50 PM

Thanks, guys. Going to snag a set at Best Buy.

flashburn 12-17-08 01:45 PM

You should really get a 3 pack if possible (I think only EB sells a 3 pack). Not having a Ride (or a Crash or a High Hat) really sucks.

I'm hopefully getting the 3-pack from the wife, and that was my thought process. I didn't want to feel like I'd regret it and have to add one later.

thelwig, if you're close to the Fry's in Austin, they apparently carry the 3-pack in-store.

Agreed. Part of the fun is also trying to think of which to hit to make the correct sound (between say, the green pad or symbol).

Three pack is definitely the way to go for cymbals. If there was a way to hook up a fourth cymbal (for the times the hi hat is played on the red pad) it would be even better. Much fun.

Actually what would be even better would be if it would sense that you have the cymbals plugged in and then move any hi hat on the red pad to the yellow pad. I'm not holding my breath for that to happen though.

Thanks for the tip. The good news is about Austin is no matter where you are, you are pretty much 30 minutes away from any point.

I will take the plunge on the 3 cymbal pack...

The multiple-song sets really wear me out, and there's no quick playing so you have to have a chunk of time. Other than that this game rocks :D I've gone up to 5... the seven-song setlist scares me.

That High Grass song is my favorite so far and that was one loooooong song and second solo. Missed two notes on easy. Hard as hell, though.

Mystery set lists seem to repeat the same songs over and over again. I've played some songs about 10 times now on mystery setlists.

DVDChris 12-18-08 12:22 AM

Have you unlocked all the songs yet? I don't encounter repeats in mystery setlists that often.

GatorDeb 12-18-08 12:24 AM

I'm up to Dublin/London. Just got the plane and I've played a few Euro gigs. I'm at the point where I just got a Roadie.

Tarantino 12-18-08 12:24 AM

Wait until you play it on anything but easy...

-ohbfrank-

You definitely won't be saying that when you step it up.

I did the four song Killers Challenge yesterday (drums). Those songs are harder than you expect. It didn't help that my drum batteries failed out again in the middle of Mr. Brightside. Losing your rhythm on Expert during that song is a disaster. I don't know if the kit has an aversion to rechargeables (brand new ones, btw) or if it's somehow just defective. I gave up on the rechargeables and went back to the standard batteries just to see if there's a difference in lifespan.

Jump around cities more instead of doing all the gigs in one city at a time. Also you can go do challenges instead of the Tour to unlock everything in the game.

Then again, with RB1+RB2+20Bonus+all the other stuff you bought, there shouldn't be much repetition at all.

xmiyux 12-18-08 08:33 AM

Well i enjoy singing GGaHT.

Tarantino 12-18-08 10:45 AM

The Killers songs are tough because of that damn kick drum.

It's Rock Band, and it should be limited to rock, in my opinion. I can promise you that there would be some pissed off county music fans if this game was originally all country music, and they started releasing heavy metal downloads for it.

It's a week wasted, in terms of downloads, for me.

pinata242 12-18-08 10:55 AM

It's called "Rock Band" because that's more enticing of a title than "Band" or "Group of Musicians".

As a consumer, I would be pissed if the game was limited to any genre/artist/decade.

Be happy that they are supporting ONE platform for ALL kinds of music. Move on.

Yep, as Harmonix said, if it has guitar, bass, drums, and vocals (usually), it's in bounds. And creating a handful of country tracks for RB is a lot better than a portion of the team that works on this game being taken away to build a country/other genre specific game just to keep it out of this one.

Yeah, I'm getting better on those super quick doubles, but I still only hit them about 1/3 of the time. Besides thinking "spasm" I haven't been able make my foot move that fast. I also get tripped up on triples because for some reason my brain wants to play four kicks. Mr. Brightside alternates long kick sequences with triples and quick doubles. Nevermind the repeated drum roll/kick sequence that opens the song.

I adore the song, but Mr. Brightside on guitar is NOT fun.
