If you give a fork and knife to a townperson they will tell you where he is, but unfortunately it is often not any help, unless they are behind a house, and you can only use them once a person. They are especially useless when they are telling you he is near a signpost since there are so many and he might not be behind one, but by some trees next to one. It's pretty much just an exercise in frustration especially when you are picking up your ninth or tenth Harvest Mirror as I went through.
I just would grab ten or so knives and forks from Tortimer. To do this I would make sure to drop it far enough that he wouldn't see it, and run back to him. I ran by every house and looked by every tree. It is time-consuming, and if I was really stuck only then would I ask a townperson.
It's terrible design, and Nintendo should have put something in where it would keep track of what has been handed out, or at least let you pick what you want. Not everyone can go online and trade, and not everyone wants to spend hours ON THANKSGIVING to try to collect furniture. Do they expect people to play this over multiple years to try and collect it? People are going to time-travel for stuff like this which defeats the purpose of the game, in my opinion, but the collector mentality is strong with people. They need to be reasonable when the game is supposed to casual.

Thanks for the info. Yeah, it sucks Nintendo was so lazy by not offering the feature you described. I'm sick of getting the same crap everytime I find him. I'm at the point now where i'm about to quit trying to get the wall.I would love to have it because I have everything in the Harvest collection except for the wall. It's hard to believe as many times as I have found him and not gotten one freakin' wall.

Anyone have the players guide?
Ive got it and it says that the 2nd and 3rd Nook upgrades revert back to closing earlier?
Where on the 1st upgrade he is open till 1am.
Is this true or a misprint?

Is there ever a 24 hour Nook's? I can't remember from previous versions.

I was thinking about getting this game for my daughter who is an Animal Crossing nut. Never really played it myself, but a lot of the critics are rather hard on it saying it's exactly like the DS version.
So what's the opinion of the fans? Is that a valid argument, or is this one a must-own even if you already love and adore the DS game?

Hmmm you know it's really hard to say. From what I have seen that is a fair criticism. It really is just like the DS version. There are some minor changes such as how the special characters act, the addition of the city, and now having four separate houses, but I would say it is 85% the same.
However if you really loved the DS version, then you will like this version as well. She will just be a little disappointed about the lack of effort put forth by the developers in really expanding the world of Animal Crossing.

I believe all the reviews say that if you have played it before its not much of an update.
I would think if you love the series that youd want to play it regardless of what others think.
I have a friend who played the GC version alot. Now plays AC:CF just as much.
For the Wii its groundbreaking. The ability to WiFi and WiiSpeak to other players online is the hook.

I think its a great effort on Wii. Best to take a babystep with simple adds now, get the new userbase hooked, then really expand in the sequal with better DS tie-ins and compatibility.

Sure you get the new userbase hooked, but I'm still annoyed that the Gamecube version easily has the best town.
However wiispeak is great, and also being able to use a USB keyboard to type if you don't want the mic is also a welcome addition.

I didn't know you could use the keyboard with AC. I should have assumed but I guess I just never thought about it. Do you use a keyboard?

WOOO-HOO! At long last, I now have the Harvest wall to complete my collection! Now I can play in real time instead of going back to Thanksgiving Day over and over again.

Personally, [and this is not an EXPERT opinion at all] but ... this is just the original game with a tiny bit of new features. I loved the original and I am logging quite a few hours on this version but I am not overly impressed. If you don't have internet, I don't know if you would get anything out of this at all.

The WiiConnect makes the game, but that was also in the DS version. I personally do not use the keyboard because I bought the Mic Bundle, but I am going to use it today for mailing letters to townsfolk and other people on here. I know you can use the keyboard because I have talked to people from here in the game who were using a keyboard.

It is definitely like the first game. I miss being able to travel to the island via the DS. I also miss the animals giving you their picture.

Any USB keyboard will work.

Good to know.
I just wish my only cordless keyboard wasn't inoperable. I certainly can't sit tethered three feet away from my 60" television. I might have to look into another cordless.
