I finally saw some PSN cards at Target. You might be able to find a coupon or rebate for their online store. I haven't checked but I assume it's possible.

Nothing for me either, I think it went to a discussion that has been deleted. What did we miss?

Just noticed that the Tom Clancy's Endwar SE (with new Bluetooth headset) is $55 at Target (MSRP $89.99). That's a tempting deal to me. I don't really chat online with people, but this might make it worthwhile. And besides the game looks pretty good.
Anyone have an opinion on the headset or the game? |

Pain news.
http://pain.us.playstation.com/post/...'-Out.aspx Greetings, all. By now, I’m sure you’ve noticed a few changes around the House of PAIN, yeah? We figured it’s only fair to give you some new eye candy for the holidays. I’m sure you’ve also noticed that the PAIN Labs have gotten a bit of festive treatment, too. Oh, and Ed, our resident costumed crusader of holiday cheer, will be donning a reindeer suit in celebration of the holidays, too. Fear not – there’s even more to come. Ao No Kutsu, the Beast From the East, will be in the house next week. With the release of the Replay Editor, we’re looking forward to seeing even more of you and your PAINful antics on YouTube™. Believe it or not, we learn a lot from watching you all play, so give us your best runs, edit away, upload, and teach us a thing or two. It’s pretty much the perfect learning experience for us. How do PAIN lovers play the game? BAM! There it is. What are some of the most amazing things people are doing in PAIN? BAM! There it is. Bring it on. We love it. Oh yeah, more to come – Online Multiplayer is still being tested, but will be headed your way soon. In addition to that, we’re well into development on the next TWO environments, and you’ll be seeing them in the coming weeks. All in all, things are looking good in the world of PAIN. ... |
Still need to buy the Movie add-on and the Hoff.

Went ahead and bought this. It's a heck of a deal and the reviews on the mic have been very positive. I had to laugh -- Target is selling the game with AND without the mic at the same price. Who in their right mind would buy it without the mic in those circumstances?

I have not read any reviews of the headset. What makes the official one better than every other Bluetooth headset out there?
Reviewer's Conclusions for Bluetooth Headset for PlayStation 3 Pros: Surprisingly fast and easy to pair up with your PlayStation 3 and most new phones. The inclusion of a Mute button is brilliant. The sound quality is superb to the point that you’ll notice when other gamers are using the same Bluetooth headset. It doesn’t take too long to charge. I clocked in about 8 hours of use before recharging the headset. In its charging cradle, you can use the headset as a desktop microphone. Headset comes included with the $59.99 retail version of SOCOM: Confrontation. Cons: It’s powerful enough to occasionally pick up conversations in nearby areas … that might confuse other players during matches. It can become just a tad uncomfortable for very long periods of use. Verdict: 9.5 It’s no surprise that Sony made this Bluetooth headset the Official Bluetooth Headset for the PlayStation 3 seeing as it easily surpasses other recently released headsets already available. You’ll immediately notice the difference in sound quality and including a mic mute button is a stroke of genius. In short, if you’re shopping around for a headset for your PS3 (or phone) then this is definitely the headset you must buy. ________________________________ Amazon.com Product Description The Official Bluetooth Headset for the PlayStation 3 from Sony will keep you looking stylish whether you are barking orders at your teammates or chatting with your mother on the phone. Army of Two on clearance at Target, YMMV of course, $9.99 at mine.

Did anyone pick up one of those new wireless bluetooth keypads for the controller? I'd imagine it would be useful in Home if anyone actually wanted to be there. It might help with the browser as well. The description of the product describes a "touchpad mouse" but I have no idea what that is -- is it like that eraser-thing they had on IBM laptops?
Anyway, it looks to be way overpriced at $49.99. I might pick one up if it goes on sale or clearance for $25-$30. http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/image...NPDJA-1-sm.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...mL._SS400_.jpg |
You might be able to save some money by getting the official headset on eBay. Some people are selling the one that came with the Socom bundle (presumably because they already had headsets before buying the game).
I think the main advantage is the onscreen indicator. The quality seems to be as good as any, but that indicator is something that a third-party headset, regardless of quality, won't be able to have. |
The touchpad mouse feature for the keypad is the whole surface of the device is like a mousepad.

I've had the official Sony BT Headset for awhile. It is great and works great with my phone.

Have had the officail Sony Bluetooth headseat since it came out and I love it. tried a couple of other headsets and they sounded horrible. Sony's works great and paired up easily with my cell phone and the PS3. I haven't had to use the wired headset in months. my only complain is that it gets uncomfortable after a while but that is easily remedied by taking two seconds and switching to your other ear every hour or so.
