It will probably remain my favorite game until RB3 comes out, but I haven't put it in my Xbox since GH:WT came out.

You RB fanboys can enjoy playing the same old tracks you've been playing the last few months along with the sub-par DLC you got this week and next. I'm gonna go have more fun playing great songs like Trapped Under Ice, Death Magnetic album, Band on the Run, Hotel California, Pull me Under, Beat It, Mr. Crowley, Crazy Train, No Rain, Are You Gonna go my Way, Anything, Stranglehold, Nugent/Wylde Guitar Battles, The Joker, Assassin, Hot for Teacher, Satch Boogie, Purple Haze, Rebel Yell, Hollywood Nights, Hot Blooded, Jessie's Girl, Do it Again & many many more.

Sure, they aren't quite as polished as they would be if they were in RB, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth playing. I play these games bacuase I am a music fan. I like singing and playing along to old favorites and just having fun with friends and family. Some of you are taking these games WAY too seriously.
So if you go to the store and see a 4 oz. package of Jessica Alba's Anal Hash Browns, you'll put it under the Scan-O Price-O and see how much it is? The presentation is shoddy at best. Plenty of the songs are extremely boring on instruments, but I'll admit that they're okay on others. For everything that they did right, there's plenty of things that you think should be common sense to steal from HMX or someone else by now that weren't included.

I'm going to be so torn if GH gets Opeth DLC first. It was on that same list of most-wanted artists from dev's and anything they put in is fine with me. I might go halves on AC/DC and 250/250 + export it but I'm not sure just yet. PUSA pack will be a pick up, as will the 20 song pack. It can't be any worse than singing Spanish gibberish in GH like Dave Chappelle

I like the way you think. I'm not familiar with SG or W.A.S.P. though. I'd still love to see the Who's Tommy, Ayreon's Human Equation or Universal Migrator 1, Pain of Salvation's Be or Scarsick and of course Coheed & Cambria's Good Apollo IV pt.1 or 2.

Concept albums seem to be the only full albums that really fit this 'album' DLC format. It's a perfect fit but we have yet to actually get one. Ayreon would be great since he has such a varied group of singers on every album.

Based on your tastes above, I have no idea how you are not familiar with Shadow Gallery. I suggest you go order Tyranny as soon as humanly possible. Your ears will thank me later.

The way I see it, if GHWT ever drops in price just for the game only. I may consider picking it up.

I just can't bring myself to purchase, at full price, a game in which I only want to play 17 songs as opposed to the 40 RB2 songs which I want to play.

Add the common songs to both games and you don't have to change discs as often.

I'll toss it on the list.

Are you familiar with Frameshift's Absence of Empathy? I would have added that one but thought it would be way obscure for discussion. Hands down Sebastian Bach's best vocal work of his career. Prog + Concept album + Bach = Win.

I don't understand the Live hate/indifference. They never quite got their due. IMO. They would have some great RB translated songs.

Personally, I would've been happy with Rock Band just being Rock Band 1 forever, but the additions in RB2 are awesome. If GH can be forward-thinking and make all of their DLC from this point on compatible, it will help them out in the long run. We'll see though.

I think they are...not sure what else that code for is on the manual. I think RB set the precedent that they will have to from now on.

That is huge for me. Hopefully Amazon will fire one up also. Mine will be put up at 12:20.

I think I should easily be able to clear $25, worst case scenario. So all that AC/DC goodness for $20 is awesome for me.

Seconded - I don't think you'll be disappointed MC.

I tend to think Carved In Stone and Tyranny are equal, but CIS is not a concept record. Not as crazy about the later SG stuff.

How about some Symphony X?

Now, my main artist requests would be:

Fear Factory
Rammstein
Porcupine Tree
Opeth
Seal

Symphony X is solid. Outside Divine Wings though nothing has truly blown me away. V and Paradise Lost were good, but it's hard to top DWoT.

I've heard the first one with LaBrie and though it had some good stuff. I wasn't aware they recorded a new one with Bach. Sounds like something I need to look into. I've always liked Bach's vocal work.

I agree about the later stuff not being as good. There's some good stuff to be found on Legacy and Room V, but they definitely peaked with Tyranny.

Hell yeah! I love Divine Wings & Twilight in Olympus. Every subsequent release has been pretty solid as well. I saw Symphony X live when they opened for Blind Guardian a few years ago. Man, that was one hell of a night. The opening act of the night was a then local band, The Black Dahlia Murder. They're a somewhat brutal melodic death metal band. I enjoyed them, but my wife wanted to get out of there so bad.

I know we have moved past this discussion and many folks aren't a fan of playing the song in-game but Bob Dylan is a big name to have in RB. He may not draw the younger gaming crowd but he (like The Eagles, Paul Simon, etc.) draw large crowds at concerts where the tickets are super expensive.

Speaking of.... i want some Simon and Garfunkle in RB.

May they can use the connector on the guitar, the one you can use to connect the headset to sing along? This would require that singer to also play a guitar or bass, which I guess fits the Beatles concept.

I'm catching up on posts now...

I agree with the clamoring for Live. Personally i would rather have their first album Mental Jewelry but i would settle for Throwing Copper.

As for the Beatles project. I am very stoked for the Beatles. I hope the tracks are exportable into RB (since i assume it will be a complete standalone game that i will happily buy).

I am also really taken with the idea of making the Beatles game essentially be RB3 and have the ability to bring all the RB1 and RB2 tracks into that version. It would be a genius way to hype that title and upgrade the engine.

I read somewhere that there were going to be a couple of other songs on the AC/DC game that are currently dlc. Is this true

I doubt it. 18 tracks of AC/DC Live totaling 99 minutes. That's it.

I'm wondering why there isn't more (or SOME) from the likes of Elvis, The Beach Boys, Van Morrison, and any combination of Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young? Could the availability of quality masters be an issue for some of those older groups?

I'd love Suite Judy Blue Eyes, even if it might be boring on guitar.

O/T so anyone who doesn't care about Frameshift can skip this post.

Spoiler:
I too first heard them because of LaBrie. It was a solid CD with a couple stand out tracks. By comparison Absence of Empathy is great from beginning to end.

Unfortunately Bach's rock star ego reared it's ugly head and, at the time, forced Henning Pauly to retire the Frameshift name*. He's been doing side projects and released stuff under his name instead. IIRC, Henning Pauly writes and records most everything on the albums himself and hires vocalists near the end to complete the project. When the CD came out Bach cried foul for not getting any writing credits in the CD booklet. Apparently he changed a word here and a line there, and proceeded to promote the album as his project despite being a hired gun. There was a giant flame war between both him and Bach along with the fans on each of their web forums.

Anyway, Absence of Empathy is a concept album about violence. All the songs are in pairs. Typically one song will be about the victim and the other about the person who perpetuated the violence. Same characters and story just from a different perspective. I'd describe more but it's just as easy to read it yourself.

Babysteps is another good concept album by him. It's about an athlete who can't play anymore and is dealing with rehab and the fact that his dream is gone.

*according to his website he's working on a third Frameshift album.
