You are comparing one week of complaints here to a weekly ritual over there?

For shits and giggles I read the Offspring thread there a couple weeks back. What a fucking waste of time and a nightmare of a thread. There's no pleasing their forum members. At least everyone here is cordial for the most part.

My sister-in-law has GHIII and RB1 for the Wii. She has two GH guitars and the RB1 guitar. The GH guitars on the Wii do not work for RB1. Will they work in RB2? Will you be able to transfer the RB1 games over like on the 360? If so, what size SD card would be recommended?

I had the misfortune of spending some time on that forum one afternoon. I don't know how the Harmonix doesn't spend their money flying around kicking those people (a la Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back). It was pretty much a hive of scum, villainy, and lack of English skills.

I have an announcement.

Everything is again right with the world.

Well, my world.

Okay... okay. Just the part of my world that involves irrational envy for people with rival consoles playing Livin On a Prayer when I cannot. I mean, the Penguins won last night, sure, but it was only the Maple Leafs and though I got to witness Sid's 100's goal, 200th assist and 300th point last night at the arena, they stopped selling Yuengling at the nearest stands near my seats... forfucksake, you know? I just don't drink Labatt's. And I'm really goddamn awful at Warhawk. Pretty soon I'm just going to be the decoy for my team for opponents to shoot at.

But I now have Rock Band 2. So fuck the rest. Rock on, people.

Sports Game Of The Year 2007 skate. had Lounge Act in it and I'll totally be picking that up. I'm not sure about the others yet.

My vocal improvements seem to be slowing down greatly. 16.6 million career score, 99.43% and 33.67 streak averages, 82 gold stars (Spoonman and Mountain Song suck) and 58 FCs. I've been playing songs this morning and getting less than the normal 1000 on phrases, and it keeps my multiplier, but I'm pretty sure that's what gave me 99%'s on a few songs. Anyone else experience this, or know the exact tolerance?

I know that no one tolerates my singing voice at parties.

The GH guitars SHOULD work on RB2. Unfortunately I read that RB1 songs won't be able to be exported on the Wii.

Looks like someone over on the RB forums was watching CMT, and they sad that some country music would be coming in December. I guess that's then that Brooks & Dunn DLC will hit.

This is all good news.

Though I am not a huge Brooks & Dunn fan (the songs I like of them will never make Rock Band), I love the branching out. Get on some oldies, applicable hip hop, etc...

Beach Boys, for example, would be awesome to play on Rock Band.

I think only rock bands should be on Rock Band. Certainly no need for hip hop, ballads, or soft pop bands.

They should save the country songs for Country Band.

That is just stupid. If you don't like the music, then don't buy the fucking music. Quit your bitching. Diversity is good, especially for something like this.

Completely agree! There is more than enough DLC out there that would cater to just about anyone. Even if I won't buy, I'm glad that it's out there for other people, and it may prompt more game sales.

I'm pretty diverse in my tastes (in music and in the game), so I'll reserve judgment until I actually hear the songs and see the charts. I do this every week with songs I'm not familiar with, so these will be no exception.

Yep.

Thankfully the country will be DLC so those who don't want it in their game won't be forced to buy it. Harmonix has also went on record as saying the name of the platform (Rock Band) doesn't limit what they will put in the game.

And honestly, good for them. Some of my favorite songs so far have been the Dead, Bob Dylan, and the Allman Brothers. I also have enjoyed every stitch of NIN DLC and it isn't necessarily "rock."

Depending on what the country songs are i might be all over them. I'm not really a Brooks and Dunn fan but i will certainly give the songs a listen the weekend before they release and see what i think.

Also, just to see the interwebs explode it would amuse me to no end if the 20 free songs were all country.

Exactly. Hell, tons of the stuff I love playing in the game I wouldn't ever listen under normal circumstances. If it's fun to play, it's fun to play, regardless if the genre is my thing or not. There are some limits to this, and I doubt I would get very much (if any Country), but it that is not to say I wouldn't welcome any new genre's to Rock Band (especially as DLC).

If anything that is something that DLC gives them the opportunity to release some very niche and different types of music that they wouldn't normally put on the disc.

Country isn't that far off from "rock". Granted, it's not too similar to things like All that Remains or Testament, but I've always thought you could "electrify" lots of country and speed it up a bit, and it's pretty much rock.
I could see country more than rap. I kinda liked Sabotage in RB1, but Whatcha Want in RB2 is horrible. Admittedly I first played it on bass. I know it's not "real" Beastie Boys, but I think something off Licensed to Ill would have gone better.
I would definitely check out some country DLC tracks. I'm not a huge "fan" but I like some of it. My wedding song was actually a country song. Although I'm more into some of the female country artists....like to see the vocal chart for a Lucinda Williams song. They probably wouldn't pick "Come On", though.
I don't like ballads esp. "rock", just because I don't like listening to them, but I don't begrudge their being there.
Soft pop--what is this? Like Backstreet Boys? Luther Vandross? I'd have to say I don't think those would be a great fit on RB....plus they seem to be more vocal-oriented, so they might work better on Singstar or Karaoke.
I think the more and the more varied the DLC, the better.

Also I'm still hoping that either Rock Band or Guitar Hero would diversify even more and make some Latin rock available from groups such as Maná or Enanitos Verdes as a DLC.

One of the worst posts ever in these Rock Band threads.

"Rock" is entirely subjective...and based on your theory...it was ruined a long time ago with what Rock Band has already released on DLC.

Got the bundle, taking a break from tearing it up. The new guitar is much better, but having a problem getting the calibration right, could be the shorter response time from the mushy RB1 guitar though.

Have you done auto calibration? I've found it to be near perfect with the new guitar?. Also, try the suggested manual settings if auto isn't to your liking. If you go through the calibration tool, you'll go insane trying to get it right.

I did the auto cal, but it seems wrong, and wouldn't register the video calibration because it it's too bright in my place right now (RPTV). And yeah, manual calibration is an exercise in futility, but I'll try again later. Going to test out the new drums.

We had a Rockband contest at our local Walmart this morning. It was mainly geared towards the release of ACDC's new album Black Ice. They had a PS3 guitar and drums setup (no kick pedal). The contest was not setup well at all. The top three scores won the prizes. Play any song and any difficulty. There were only 12 contestants. Some didn't get their score counted because they clicked through the screen before they could be written down. It was mostly kids playing. I signed my three kids up. My oldest (13) took second place and won a copy of the new ACDC CD that comes out tonight at midnight. The other two sons did get some swag for participating. First place was a Rockband sweatshirt. Here are some pics.

Make a tube with your hand around the guitar's "eye," and leave no distance between your hand and the TV. Others have had luck that way in bright rooms.
