Either way, those 3 songs, especially with the parenthesis of where they are located elsewhere, don't justify holding onto the first RB disc. IMO.
So once you "unlock" most of the songs you never need your copy of RB1 again? They won't ask you to insert the disc from time to time to verify ownership? I know it seems like a silly question but hey I'm prepping myself for this coming Sunday.

After you pay your $5.00 to transfer them...

You don't even have to unlock them. You can choose any of them from the quickplay menu, and they also will show up instantly in mystery setlsits in BWT, or you can choose them in 'make a setlist' sets.

At least on the 360 disk, once I bought the key and ripped the tracks (which took a whole lot less time than I thought it would), I haven't had to touch my RB1 disk. I guess it's possible that "functionality" could be added in a patch but let's hope not.
Since the money for the key was allegedly a license fee to make sure the tracks are licensed for play in RB2, I can't even see how the argument for a disk check could be made. The implication is that anyone who pays the five bucks or whatever has now paid the fee to play them in RB2...regardless of their ownership status of RB1.
I've got my RB1 disk posted on Goozex and Amazon...not that it's going to sell, but whatever cash it brings in (if any) is worth more to me than those three songs.

Also it depends on what you mean by "unlock". Pay the transfer fee, the songs are there in RB2 to be used however. Some RB2 disk songs, however, you have to "unlock" (ie, earn) while playing through the game. Not the same type of "unlocking". I'm not even sure what the easiest/fastest/best way to "unlock" RB2 songs is...but among all of us, surely we have at least one master of unlocking who does know.

You need to go through a process and download and pay for a key ($5). Once you put your RB 1 disc in, you rip it, and then never have a need for it again.

So you should rent it, borrow it, or buy it used and immediately sell it after you go through the export process.

On the 360 no it will not ask you. You pay for the patch, it rips all the music to your HDD, and then they are in RB 2. When you quickplay on RB2 you can then even sort the songs by location and it splits them into DLC, RB2 disc, and the ripped RB1 disc.

Well I finally broke the pedal on my RB1 set. I assume we're past the free RMA replacement plan right? If so, I'll either fix it myself or just wait for the GH:WT set.

Yeah, the RMA thing ended on Oct. 1st for RB1 stuff (unless you bought it in the last 30-60 days). If the actual pedal snapped in half, you can tape two butterknifes to it, and then duct/electrical tape them together, at least until you can find a suitable replacement.

On another note, we went for Bladder of Steel yesterday again. 3 player expert band (guitar/bass/vocals). Unfortunately, we didn't make it. I knew I had one problem song (on vocals) in American Woman. I asked our bassist to save overdrive, as the part at 90% (the "Bye-bye" part where the singer drops octaves) gives me hellish problems. He said he'd save through the whole song, just in case. Well, I saw he had a full bar very early on, and told him he could use that, but save the next batch. Well, I guess he thought it meant I was through my trouble spot, and we ended up failing that song. Looks like I'll have to go it alone one day for BoS.

On the bright side, we ended the set with some pretty decent numbers:

54 gold stars
6 4-stars
The rest were just plain ole 5-stars.

My voice started to give out around 70 songs or so, so we all switched around. Kij went to vocals, the bassist took over guitar, and I jumped on bass. I'm assuming we probably would've failed one of the later songs if I was still on vocals, as I was really straining near the end of my run. Seeing as I'm a lefty and they were both righties, there would've been no way to switch without pausing the game and thus disabling the achievement. Don't know when I'll feel like going through again (or on what instrument), but my wife's leaving for a week early next month, so maybe then.

Albums just work for some people, and not for others. That's why they choose to split them into singles as well. It's the best of both worlds. I'm sure as time goes on, we'll be getting the other "hits" from most of the artists that have already been featured, as well as tons of new bands showing up as well.
Yes, I am still saying it. I'll admit that there are a few albums in the world that I enjoy almost all of the songs, but I'd rather play the hits in Rock Band. There are too many songs and too many artists out there for me to spend time and money on "B-side" tracks and stuff that only appeals to hardcore fans of the band.

Add another WTH!?!?! on Visions for me. Made it to all of 23% on Hard with Hyperspeed on. It doesn't help that the guitar playing sounds like a bunch of damn popcorn to me. It's hard to hear the notes to play them in rhythm, etc.

Attempted the Endless Setlist 2/Bladder of Steel on Expert Guitar for the first time today. I had the day off and the wife didn't, so it was now or maybe never. Thankfully I managed to never pause accidently or fail anything.

I started about 9AM and finished around 3:15PM. I was writing down my scores/stars/% after every song for the purpose of entering the data into my iPhone app later on. That helped the time pass a little quicker.

I gold starred the first 20 or so songs until Welcome to the Nighbohood came up. The next 20 or so songs were a mix of five and gold stars. That's when I started to get bored and wishing it would hurry up and finish. That was not helped by the fact that I was needing to urinate really badly about halfway through the set. It definitely took a "Bladder of Steel" to hold it until Let There be Rock came on. I made a mad dash for the bathroom during the second break in the song and made it back without missing a note.

The songs that weren't at least five starred were Shackler's Revenge, Chop Suey, Master Exploder & eight of the last ten songs (Souls of Black & Bodhisattva were 5 stars). Visions was my only three star.

It's really a pain having the hardest songs come at the end due to the fact that both my arms and hands were cramping and not wanting to move all that well for about the last 20 songs.

Overall I think I improved my score on about a dozen or so songs. Everything else was pretty mediocre. I'm just relieved I got it over and done with first try. I don't think I would've had it in me to ever try again.

So just what do you get for playing 6 hours straight?

And if you were really hardcore you'd a had a bottle or a bucket to go in. Heck why not just get a catheter inserted?

25 glorious e-peen points and a little badge that no one else can see unless they've also done it. Jealous? Yeah, thought so.

I'll probably be doing ESL2 on expert vocals this Saturday. I'm sitting at forty gold stars, forty-one 5*'s, and three damn 4*'s (Spoonman, A Jagged Horrible Song, and HELLO THERE {wtf}) so this week I'm going to make sure they'll all be 5'd when I do my run. I have 99% on Tangled Up In Blue, 100% on Master Exploder, and four other final tier gold stars, yet I've got a 4* on tier goddamned zero Hello There? AM I READY TO ROCK? AM I READY OR NOT? I don't even know!

Platinum guitarist with Shagrath yesterday, platinum vocals this weekend, and platinum drums whenever I can struggle through Visions and the end of Peace Sells. If I can pass those on voxdrums I might just do that and leave my 360 on for weeks while I do a few songs per day.

Unless there was some real world swag for that achievement I'd probably not consider doing it at all. But congrats for the expert challenge!

RB2 is bullshit. I had a challenge to add 5th song, and if I passed it, I got quadruple the fans. (Couldn't use overdrive).

I passed it but only got 2 stars on the last song, and lost like 4.5 million fans, about 65% of my fanbase.
