Question: I've noticed some challenges cleared that I didn't play. Something like "300k on level 1-3" or whatever. If I did that during adventure, quickplay, or some other challenge, is that why it's unlocked?
If so, does it stand to reason that if I get 750k while going for a different challenge that I'd unlock it as well? However, I think that it only applies to whatever mode you are in at the time. I.E. You are challenge mode and clear all the pegs plus score 350k. This will affect the challenges and count towards the achievement. It will not affect the adventure and quick play modes. |

This week on XBLA:
Puzzle Quest: Galactrix at 1600 points (which we all knew) Flock! at 1200 points (mod note: you know better than to comment on pricing) |

I think that is how the programmers did it. I had the same thing happen multiple times. Definitely lessens the difficulty factor (not by much obviously) but these challenges still piss me off to no end.

I'm giving me all of 2009 to finish Peggle. ;)

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
So Flock is local co-op only? I thought I read somewhere it would have Live co-op.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
Ah, the good old days of games being 200, 400, even 800 points. 200 for a classic arcade game, 400-800 for an upgraded arcade game, 800 for "top tier" games would be some defensible pricing, and those 200/400 point games would definitely be in the "impulse purchase" category.
I picked up Namco Museum today from GS Game Days. I already had Pac Man CE on the Arcade disk, I was really wanting Galaga Legions and some of the other classic arcade games. I just wish they would let you activate the XBLA game on your HD instead of requiring the disk :( (that's a switch, I'm arguing *for* the limited, nontransferable digital download). |

I was going to pick up Namco on Sunday but all the local stores gutted their copies. I'm not buying something labeled as new if it's been opened...

I understand that (though technichally, they're "opened", not "gutted"). Still, for $13.49, you're getting a lot of value even for a new, opened game.

Yeah, I used the term "gutted" because it's the term all the store employees were using when I called around looking for a sealed copy. I don't understand why they felt the need to open every single copy...

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
I think for sub $20 I'd take the gutted copy. Anything over that and I shop elsewhere for my sealed copy.
|
Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
I took the 'gutted' copy to the checkout, and he took a mint in package one from behind the counter for me. I guess the gutted ones were "display only".

Peggle has taken over my life...
My roommate and I collectively completed all the challenges and are now slowly inching our way towards clearing all the pegs on every level Interesting thing is that we've devoted five times as much play time to this than Resident Evil 5, both bought on the same day:) |

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
My new OXM came and it confirms that while Outrun will be 800 points (but just a copy of Outrun 2006 and not very good), Lode Runner will be 1200 points. These have become very expensive Days of the Arcade, indeed.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
Outrun will be MINE MINE MINE.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
Trial Game - Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
Trial Game - Flock! I hope Microsoft is taking note of the increase in sales on games like Alien Hominid and PA:Ep1. While I wish they'd continue adding titles to the Arcade Hits line, I really only need the price drop temporary as I don't miss the sales. So if this is what it takes to get more across, so be it. I really hope it continues. |

Amazon's XBLA Page
Basically you buy through Amazon to get a pre-paid code. While currently it's a big "WTF" versus doing it directly through Microsoft for MSRP, there is the potential for Amazon sales... maybe even B2G1 (or better) deals in the future. |
Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
^ I got 1600 MS Points for 20¢ this morning from them.
Also, no tax versus buying points in store? |
Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
How did you do that? Gift card or something?
|
Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
It was a promotion that lasted about, oh, three minutes this morning.

Shit :(

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)
I imagine a page like this is useful if you want to give a gift of an XBLA game easily.
Puzzle Quest: Galactrix is just too much IMO. I know they are probably putting it at that price point to keep it in line with the DS/PSP/Everything Else pricing but I just never feel comfortable at $20 for an arcade game. I'll wait for a deal on it, even if it means waiting a year. On the other hand, Penny Arcade looks tempting at $10, might pick it up. |
