WARNING: PRICE DISCUSSION AHEAD!

Spoiler:
It would be a great 400 point Community game, but to me, it's not an 800 point XBLA game. The story and presentation have that rough, unpolished Community Game feel and it was already getting repetitive before the demo was over. It's not a bad game by any stretch, just not particularly fun for me.

Yeah, I have to agree.

While the gameplay was kinda fun for a standard 2D beat-em-up, the art/design looks like smeared shit. And while the demo didn't outlast it's welcome, just one more level would. Seriously, this is on about the same level as an average gameboy-color game.

That it has the depth/polish as an average game made for the GBC.

Finally, Galactrix officially announced for 4/8.

I saw that Lode Runner is finally on the Coming Soon page. Does anyone know the release date for this one? I used to love that game on my Commodore.

I believe it's the last Wed. in April. The 29th, I think.

Xbob Live Deals of the Week for April:

4/6-4/12 - Penny Arcade: Episode 1 - 800 points (50% off)
http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/ga...090d?cid=SLink

4/13-4/19 - Tom Clancy’s GRAW 2 Co-op Collection DLC - 320 points (20% off)
http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/ga...07f0?cid=SLink

4/20-4/26 - Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 Spyglass Hill Golf Course DLC - 400 points (33% off)
http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/ga...0870?cid=SLink

4/27-5/3 - NBA Live 365 Subscription DLC - 560 points (30% off)
http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/ga...087a?cid=SLink

The PA one is the only one to get remotely excited about. I might consider picking that up at "half price" (though it's only $15 regularly on PSN). The NBA Live 365 subscription is a total joke : a daily update of real-time stats for your game on a season that just ended --Enjoy!

I'm enjoying Scrabble and Yahtzee in the Family Game Night, but it stinks that the dice change from when they stop moving to when they appear in a line for selection. That needs to be fixed.

Seriously? They didn't get Yahtzee right and it will need patched?

Hmm, never noticed that about Yatzee. I'll check mine later today.
______________

For XBLA fans, a heads-up about the Game Days sale at Gamestop. They are selling the Namco Museum Virtual Arcade for $14.99 (or $13.49 if you print & use this coupon):

It is a disc-based game (not a hard drive install) that contains 9 XBLA games (Pac-Man, Ms Pac Man, Dig-Dug, Rally-X, Xevious, Mr Driller Online, Galaga, Galaga Legions, Pac-Man CE), plus a bunch of other emulated arcade games. Certainly worth that price, even if you own a few of them already.

That is an amazing deal, Pac-Man CE is worth that price alone. I would pick it up but the Canadian GameDays sale is different :(

Couldn't you order it online? Would shipping kill the deal?

I'll grab Penny Arcade for that price, not too interested in the others. I do like that some expansions are offered though.

I have that Virtual Arcade disc and definitely recommend it for that price. Sucks playing them off the disc, but it's a hell of a deal. I think combined, the games on the disc account for 1800 gamerscore if you don't already have any of them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that disliked the demo. I found it very overpriced at 800 points.

I've been close to buying this many times, but the sale will probably push me over the top to finally buying it.

Anyone still working on their Peggle challenges?

It looks like I have 5 more to complete. I am not looking forward to the "beat 10 in a row" challenge (the final one). Six boards wasn't too bad but jumping to 10 is a pretty big leap.

Michael Corvin 04-06-09 07:01 AM

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

I can barely finish the 300k challenges. I did skip ahead and did four of the challenges in level 7(clear all pegs). I have a long way to go.

I am working on it. Frustrating as all heck with the 350k challenges and the clear all pegs. I don't even know if I can do the 700k challenge.

I'm still working through them. I think I'm down to 20-25 or so at last check. They cause me fits of rage, so I try to limit my play time. ;)

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Question: I've noticed some challenges cleared that I didn't play. Something like "300k on level 1-3" or whatever. If I did that during adventure, quickplay, or some other challenge, is that why it's unlocked?

If so, does it stand to reason that if I get 750k while going for a different challenge that I'd unlock it as well?

This week on XBLA:

Puzzle Quest: Galactrix at 1600 points (which we all knew)

Flock! at 1200 points (mod note: you know better than to comment on pricing)

This week on Arcade: Puzzle Quest: Galactrix and Flock!

Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
(1600 points) and Flock! (1200 points) will be released this Wednesday as part of our Days of Arcade promotion.

Seriously, I'm floored that Flock is running 1200 points. There's no rhyme or reason to the pricing anymore. That game I'll probably either pass on or get on the PSN with a gameshare. Bummer.

Re: XBLA Thread Part thrizzee (3)

Flock! seems cool except for the [removed]. I mean if it were [removed] I'd pick it up in a heart beat, but for the kind of game it is [removed] is just too much [removed].

But I will be picking up the Penny Arcade game this week. [removed] is what it should have been at launch.
