They had the first Infamous free last year for Plus members. I had no interest in it either but I picked it up anyway cuz I figured "why not? it's free."

I'm very glad I did because it's actually pretty damn good... and Infamous 2 is even better. Of all the free stuff they've been giving away lately, Infamous 2 was by far the best in my opinion. After I finished it, I bought Infamous: Festival of Blood just because I couldn't get enough of it. Such a good series.

I owned Infamous 1, bored me to tears (literally, those yawning "holy shit I'm bored" tears). Open World just isn't for me, generally speaking.

No they didn't. You got it free as part of the "Welcome Back" package they gave to every PSN member after their month-long outage in the Summer of 2011. I got it too.

I agree. It's a really fun game. Just entertaining, for hours and hours. Too bad the previous poster missed out on Just Cause 2, because I think that one is a blast as well. Playstation Plus is SO worth it. I'm always shocked when I see people complaining about what they get. I played some of Starhawk Single Player last night and quite enjoyed it. I might very well pick up the multiplayer if they decide to put it on sale sometime.

I forget about that. Regardless of how I got, the point was it something I had no interest in beforehand and ended up enjoying it quite a bit. I guess it doesn't matter now since the OP has since stated that he thought it was a yawnfest

Has anyone played the Alex Kidd game? I know it's originally $5, on sale for 1. Was it worth it at 5?

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

It's very old and simplistic. One of those difficult frustrating platformers. I didn't like it at all. But it's only a buck, so it's not a big deal. Still if you don't have a lot of nostalgia for old platformers, skip it.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Thanks. Did not get it.

Store has updated now with Machinarium (which people tell me is fantastic) and Retro City Rampage. I was hoping they would both get the Plus discount so I could work my way towards the 100 for the month, but they didn't. (I did get Tokyo Jungle last week, so I'm $12 on my way.)

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I'm still getting RCR since it looks really fun and is a Cross-Buy, Cross-Save game and I want to support those (as well as get to $100 by Halloween).

I have Machinarium for the PC. I think it was in an indie bundle at some time. Anyway, it's a cute point & click game, but I certainly wouldn't go so far as "fantastic".

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Heads-Up : Tomorrow (Monday) is the last day to buy the Sega Classic game Monster World IV for $1 on PS Plus. I was totally unfamiliar with the series, but the game is really cool with srot of an old-school Zelda feel to it. Well worth the buck it costs.

I also hear great things about the PS2 RPG game for sale on PSN : Odin Sphere. It's on sale for everyone for $5. I haven't played it yet, but I picked it up anyway.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Playstation Plus Update for tomorrow:

Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition

Free for Plus Members

This version of the original acclaimed Resident Evil 5 expands on the action-packed gameplay by including 2 extra episodes, one of which features Chris Redfield with series veteran Jill Valentine, along with extra costumes, content, and more. Of course it comes with the complete Resident Evil 5 story; playable solo, or via local or online co-op. If you haven’t tried one of the best Resident Evil titles this generation, now is your chance.

Portal 2

30% off for PlayStation Plus Members (Regular price: $19.99, PS Plus Price: $13.99)

One of 2011’s best titles and on multiple ‘Game of the Year’ lists, Portal 2 is coming to PSN and is coming in at a steal of a price for Plus members. Navigate ground breaking environment-based puzzles based on moving your character through a series of self-generated portals while experiencing the game’s outstanding story. This release also coincides with a patch for the game that enables PlayStation Move support as well!

Portal 2 In Motion

30% off for PlayStation Plus Members (Regular price: $9.99, PS Plus Price: $6.99)

So you wanted more Portal? PlayStation Move owners get the exclusive slice of cake with Portal 2 In Motion. The new addition to the series introduces new gameplay mechanics; including scaling and rotation of objects as well as portal surfing. These new abilities are all required as the player progresses through an increasingly challenging set of test chambers, but require new thinking to solve.

When Vikings Attack (Cross-Buy on PS Vita and PS3)

30% off for PlayStation Plus Members (Regular price: $9.99, PS Plus Price: $6.99)

Another PlayStation Network exclusive; this dynamic adventure features fast-paced battles pitting up to four co-operative players against the Viking hordes, and maniacally competitive “Versus” arenas where players can test their skills against friends. With online cross-platform play, and a certified Cross-Buy game where buying it on one device entitles you to downloading it on the other; Plus members will be getting the best deal on this one-of-a-kind PlayStation experience.

ABSOLUTE SUPERCARS (Only available in US)

20% off for PlayStation Plus Members (Regular price: $9.99, PS Plus Price: $7.99)

If you’re looking for an accessible racing game that still beats with the heart of some of the world’s audacious supercars, look no further. From Ferrari, to Pagani, to Aston Martin and McLaren, there’s a car for everyone and a series of stunning tracks to race them on.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I really had zero interest in When Vikings Attack. It seemed way too simplistic to get excited about. But some reviews are trickling out and most people really seem to love it, especially with multiplayer. I think for a mere $7, I might pick it up to play on the Vita and against my kids on the TV. It still doesn't look like much, but maybe it's just one of those games you have to actually play in order to "get it".

Yeah, I'm the same way. Didn't even really think about it, but things keep popping up about it.

Still waiting to see what the Vita plus is gonna look like this month.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

It's not great, too many clicks to get a free game to download. And all those clicks now come with irritating sounds, which is fantastic. I could get stuff to download in the background, though. That part didn't seem any different to me.

Tried it again after your post and it now allows background downloads. But it is still annoying.

I have a code up for grabs for 3 on 3 NHL Arcade on PSN. If anyone is interested, PM me. I would like to offer to long time regulars first, of course.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

According to the PS Blog, Quantum Conundrum is free for Plus starting tomorrow. And Machinarium is 30% off starting tomorrow (so 6.99).

Plus for Vita news is still incoming at some point.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Nice. A game that I don't have yet (well, except on the PC, but barely played it there). There was a "Guess the free game" contest at CAG and a lot of folks guessed Quantum Conundrum, so I assume it was free for Plus already in Europe or something.
