In what's otherwise a pretty lame week for the PSN Store Update, there's a pretty great PS3 Full Game available. De Blob 2 is available for download today and it's a really sweet platformer -- bright, colorful, great for kids. Has 3D and Move support on the PS3. For PS Plus members, there's a one-hour full game trial available and a 50% discount making it $9.99. Well worth it at that price!

I'm not sure if this ends on Saturday or today, but Toys 'R Us is having a sale on PSN cards and XBox live points cards for 20% off this week. Not a bad deal since the PSN cards almost never go on sale. Everybody paranoid about putting your CC# on the PSN can stock up on these.

Starting next Tuesday, there's the annual sale that this year will be "12 for '12". They will have 12 games on sale for one week -- ususally games that have never been on sale before. Someone on CAG listened to the Playstation Blogcast and they listed half the titles:
I really recommend Rochard, which is a clever physics-based puzzle-platformer. I got Payday from the last Fall promotion but haven't played it yet.
I'm a little cautious about buying the rest since it seems as soon as I do, they go free for PSN members. But I'll at least check out the demos of the rest. I seem to recall Okabu being sort of Japanese-weird and cutesy -- not my thing.

So should I pull the trigger on PAYDAY: The Heist for $10? I'm looking for a good local multi-player game.

If you've got friends to play with, it's absolutely worth $10. One of the most fun multiplayer games I've got. It's borderline worthless as a single player game though.

So why don't they offer BTTF for purchase on XBLA now that the series is done? I mean they do sell Sam & Max and Wallace and Grommet from Telltale Games, on XBLA right? Well, the reason is that BTTF came to PSN first and they have a policy at XBLA to never release a game on XBLA that has previously been exclusive on PSN. It's a stupid and almost comical policy (they had to add extra features onto Joe Danger so that it's technically a different game now that it's on XBLA), but they're sticking to their guns. Why it's not available on disc form however is beyond me (it was released as a disc release for PS3).

Here's the (stupid) reason it's not on XBLA : They don't want to have a subscription type-thing in XBLA where you pay up front and get episodes later. This seems silly given the fact that Mortal Kombat, Gears of War 3, Forza 4 and Call of Duty Elite all offered subscription-type programs for upcoming DLC.

Basically they care more about their rivalry than actually giving their customers the games they want. That is just bad business. I'm glad psn doesn't do this or they may never have gotten to play games like limbo which is a great game.

Love Limbo, but the bonus stage is insane! I don't think I can do the "die less than five times in one setting" trophy, it's way worse than finishing ICO within two hours (no shortcut glitches in the remastered HD collection and to add to the injury, the piston jump is there as well).

Hell yes, Simpsons Arcade HD debuts free on PSN for PS plus on Feb 7th.
Also they're giving away their second full PS3 game in Far Cry 2 later in the month. PS Plus is a great value.
edit : Here's the full details in the Monthly Ad:

Excited to get FF V for "free". Those SEGA games are all repeats, but a nice bonus for those who didn't get them before.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Gonna need to schedule a thread name change soon: http://www.destructoid.com/psn-will-...y-221140.phtml

On Tuesday 7, 2012, the PlayStation Network shall cease to be, and Sony Network Entertainment International will stand in its place. Existing PSN members are receiving emails informing them that their terms of service are about to change in the wake of this alteration.
Sony says the rebranding will not apply to the PSP "at this time." I guess Sony's already planning to bail out on that system completely with the PS Vita on the horizon.
We've known that the PSN was to be folded into the SNEI for a while, but it's been months since we last heard anything. Sony says the only thing that'll really change for users is the name. The online services -- and your associated login details -- will remain the same, but you'll have to get used to calling it something else.
I'm just going to start calling it Colin.

I disagree with classifying the latest version of Tetris as a "PS3 exclusive." Yes, it may have exclusive modes, but it just seems wrong to me.
Are those really the best choices for Best 3D Game? I see that games like Arkham City, the Team Ico collection, Uncharted 3, and other high profile titles support it. Do they not use 3D effectively or something?

Arkham City and Uncharted 3 aren't available on PSN and therefor couldn't be put on sale if they won.

Here is a 30 day free membership code for PS+. I would have used it but don't want to give them my credit card (I don't give Xbox Live my credit card either so I am not playing favorites).
Please post if you use it but again remember, you must have a credit card with them if you don't already have a PS+ account.

So wouldn't I vote for the stuff I don't have yet, so that I can get a discount, which means I haven't really played it and it's not really the best game?
