Same here. Plus, you can run the PC version at higher resolutions which will make it look that much better than the console versions.

Which stores have the best pre-order deals? Both for price and swag?

Thanks

Decker 10-27-08 09:43 AM

It's $52.99 at Fry's tomorrow for the PS3 and 360.

CC has it for 59.99 including a 10 dollar gift card and a mini guide that has a 10 dollar coupon towards the strategy guide. I'm going to buy the game and then turn around and use the 10 dollars off plus the gift card to pick up the strategy guide for next to nothing. Second free strategy guide in the last two weeks! :)

Not a bad deal at CC.

I wonder if Bethesda will release a Construction Set for the PC Fallout 3 for the mod community. Those mods really added a lot to the Morrowind experience (I haven't played Oblivion yet), and the possibility of Fallout 3 mods would definitely swing me in favor of the PC.

nickdawgy 10-27-08 06:00 PM

I never cared much for mods, so I am sticking with the 360.

Any store exclusives? The only thing I've seen is some wallpapers for your PC if you buy it at amazon.

thelwig14 10-27-08 07:27 PM

How heavy on the RPG is this game?

Yeah, CC has a $10 gift card and a free mini guide that has a coupon for $10 off the regular guide.

From what I've seen it plays almost identical to Oblivion. The only difference is the leveling up system is more traditional. The big con i have with it is the level cap is only 20! This makes me wonder if theres gonna be a shit load of expansion packs that will increase the level cap.

fujishig 10-27-08 07:48 PM

I thought this wasn't as open-ended as Oblivion. In the "exclusive" review that Xbox Mag had (which was really just a big advertisement), they mentioned that the game does end.

The first 2 Fallouts have definite endings, though FO2 does let you run around and play some more after you see the endings. The Fallout endings basically show you what happens to the various people/places that you encounter during the game, and these are determined by what your character does. From what I've heard, Bethesda is following in this tradition.

Best buy is doing a midnight launch:

Best Buy's Fallout 3 Midnight Launches

Best Buy has more than 1,400 stores across the United States, and to celebrate the launch of Bethesda's Fallout 3 next week, they're going to open up a whole twelve of them at midnight! A whole twelve! But I know what you're saying. With so many choices, which do I attend? Your best bet would probably be the one located in Rockville, Maryland, home store to Bethesda Softworks themselves. They'll have game kiosks, giveaways, contests, and Fallout 3 game director Todd Howard, who comes free with every purchase.

Other locations hosting midnight openings can be found in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, and Minneapolis. Lines start forming at 3PM for some god awful reason, so I dunno...bring a tent maybe? Hit the jump for a full list of all twelve participating locations.

I wished I lived closer to the Best Buys in Glendale and Pasadena. I wanted to drive by at 3 p.m. and see if there was an actual line with any morons standing in it.

9.6 is awesome. Not surprising tough, since they gave Oblivion high marks too.

Dammit, too many good games this month! Must resist...

RichC2 10-28-08 07:28 AM

If you're going to resist a game, Fallout 3 isn't the one to do it to.
