re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)
I didn't go back on all the threads and up front I know very little of this game. However a friend in our circle who we do a lot of co-op mentioned this game as a possible pickup for us to play. I'm more inclined to FPS and 3rd view action/shooter games. Is there a video or site that's a good primer for this game and how it works?
Also would this game be ok for "kids"...in other words is there lots of violence per say blood & gore along with language? Thank you... |
re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)
good for kids. no language or gore.

The game has a lot of gore. Bodies explode. Limbs fly off. They are all monsters and done in a more comic way as said above. I would have no problem with a kid playing it, though to be honest anyone under 10 is going to have a hard time figuring everything out without a parent helping.
Got my WD to para level 6 now. 136K damage/140k life. I am doing master level 2 with no problem, and I think that is the same as mp 7. Did my first set of uber runs, but still need one piece for a ring. The drop rate seemed to average out after that first explosion. Now it seems to be only a little better than the pc, though 75% of the legendary drops are actually good, compared to the pc where maybe 5% are good. |

To be fair there's certainly gore with blood and limbs and stuff, but it's pretty cartoony.

If they had a way to turn off the gore, I would get this so my daughter and I could play. I am tired of playing lego / kefling games.

This game is terribly addicting. I got it release day and have 3 characters all around level 20 already: Witch Doctor, Monk and Wizard. Now that I have chain lighting and the ability to call down lighting from the sky, I'm really liking ,my Wizard. But, I think WD will end up being my go to once I'm able to summon a wall of zombies and the gargantuan!

I know they've patched the WD, so I can't speak to the current state...but yeah, it really sucked to play the "pet class" and have your pets get mowed down in one hit.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)
Well the kid I'm referring to is "7" but can pretty handle almost everything thrown at him...especially the Lego stuff. He doesn't even need a manual or told what to do...I give him about 7-10 minutes on a new game and he's figured it out. Yes I know...Diablo is no Lego game and frankly after looking at the main site , some trailers, some of the management of the inventory has me confused. He just loves stuff to smash (hence Legos) and thinks the Barbarian is cool as heck. I was trying to see if on easy and we play together he can just do simple stuff and I'm there to back him up and let him have his fun.
On a side note I'm about all in on this game but have a question about the loot/pickups when in coop play. Is the loot shared across all players in the group or first come-first serve? The group I play with are thinking of this and we're all pretty cool and share...never the ones to run up and fight over something...like in Borderlands we all stare at a weapon and ask each other if anyone wants or needs it. Also we ask each other if someone needs or has something in Defiance. |
re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)
when on the same console loot is shared..but you will notice that some items roll stats for your character. If your child is a barbarian and you a wizard, some items will have intelligence as the main stat and some will have strength. This way you can figure out who gets what. My daughter was on my game with me and we got a legendary sword. It had intelligence as the main stat, so I knew it was for my wizard.
Also quest rewards go into your inventory automatically so there is no confusion over that. |

and to add to my above post..when playing online loot is your own on the console...unless you drop it after picking it up.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)
I was speaking about level 60 (Hell difficulty and beyond). When I leveled my WD last year the pets started to plateau somewhere in Nightmare, and eventually became useless.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)
I appreciate all the feedback and help on my questions. Funny but this game wasn't even so much a thought two weeks ago and now I'll probably pick it up tomorrow and I'm sure those in our group will to.
I've seen and heard those that play the pc version have racked up major hours; has there been anything on the console versions if the playability time wise can equal that or not even come close? On playing as a group...or coop...has does the game play say if you have all four characters at different levels? Say one is (11), one at (22), one at (31) and one at (44)? With say Defiance the enemies strength is based on the individual character and not a group leader. |

Is it pretty easy to jump into MP games in Xbox live?

The free helm that comes with the game is pretty good. Even though the armor rating is low at higher levels, it gives you 25% experience bonus which helps to speed up you level progression.

XBL has the demo up....already four are playing it and three more DL it.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)
If anyone is playing for the first time or going back again and wants to try out a WD, one skill you have to try is firebats. It was recently buffed, and that carried over to the console version. I know zombie bears has been THE skill for WD for a long time, but it is VERY mana costly and might be very hard to build around with the self found nature of the console.
Firebats have grown in popularity though since the patch, and have actually passed zombie bears as the most used main attack on WDs. When you first unlock the skill it is actually hard to keep up as the cost is basically your entire mana pool, but after a few levels it is easy to keep up. Try to use slower attack weapons as you can keep it up longer, and use passives that keep your mana up. The two most popular runes are plague bats and cloud of bats. Cloud does 1000% weapon damage after holding it for a few seconds, but the range sucks. Still, nothing melts elites faster. Plague has HUGE range and builds up to near 600% weapon damage. It takes a while to get use to, but basically it proc's 4 times until the full damage happens, but if you stop using it, or move to a different target, it keeps doing damage slowly ticking down 4 times. It is a beast skill once you get use to it, and is amazing on just about any situation. Goes through walls, mobs...anything. |
re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)
also when first using firebats, don't use any rune until you get at least vampire bats...then use the plague..

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)
Just got my Monk up to level 30 and just started the final act on Normal (medium). He's mowing through enemies with ease. Still like the WD better. I'll have to try the fireboats with my new WD.
