That sounds really nice. Auto-calibration is a great addition.

wow, expansion ports for the drums? it sure would be nice to only have one drum set for all Band games.

Man, just great stuff. Unfortunately, it's got me slipping away from the financially intelligent game-only purchase.

Maybe I just missed it in previous articles or posts, but that article scan says there is a "no fail mode" that you can enable in the options so you don't have to worry about failing a song. Kind of a nice addition.

Yeah, I missed that in reading the scan. Should be good for people who run parties with people who aren't really gamers.

How cool would it be if HMX put up Ray Parker Jr's 'Ghostbusters' to tie in with the Blu-ray and game release in October?

Didn't see a link to the Gameinformer scans...so here you go...

http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/...ic.php?t=11340

I am all over that Ion drum kit. I was messing with the idea of hooking up parts from my busted Rock Band kit to my Pearl kit...but now I will just wait for the Ion. Looks fantastic.

From the Game Informer article: Buttons don't click so loudly on the guitar?

The main reason I don't use my RB guitar is because I can't hear any noise when I click the button, and they don't travel much so sometimes I don't know if I actually pressed it hard enough.

I can't imagine them being softer than the current "silent". Looks like I'm sticking with my GH3 controller.

They're not talking about the strum bar, but the fret buttons. On my strat, the frets are loud as hell! I think the strum bar is going to be more like the LP, where you can definitely tell if you've strummed, but without the click. We'll see in a couple of months (or maybe with a hands-on preview earlier).

That kit does look nice. I wonder if there will be an option for changing the note order, though. I think I'd have trouble with, say, one of the left cymbals being the rightmost color on the screen.

I thought that was odd as well. In the game when the ride cymbal is being played it tends to be a blue note. It would make more sense for me to have the blue and green cymbals reversed...or have another crash cymbal next to the blue.

The thing I dislike most about the ION kit is there's only three cymbals. For a lefty like myself, the crash would be the red pad, and well, there isn't one.

If I can't reconfigure the kit to function in lefty mode, then they just lost a sale.

Yeah, the other question will be the issue of hi-hat being assigned to red on songs like Run to the Hills. If you spend a lot on the ION kit, it would be a drag to have to play the red pad with 3 free cymbals.

Anyway, HMX says no additional DLC announcements today with The Who coming next week.

Then a response in a thread over there in terms of RB2:

So is the announcement expected to be on Monday?

I don't think they've said specifically when they'll be releasing any more details, but you'd have to figure Monday or Tuesday.

I'm thinking Tuesday. They don't want to detract from people dropping those 1600 points on the Who pack on Tuesday.

I understand what they are saying. On my guitar, both the fret buttons and the strum bar are completely silent. I literally don't know if I've pushed them sometimes. I couldn't take a softer version of my silent guitar. It will keep me on the Les Paul.

If I remember correctly, the EA conference is on Monday. Also, RB2 is a timed exclusive for the 360, so Microsoft may mention some details in their conference, which is also Monday. So I would expect the bulk of the announcements to come out on Monday. As for Michael Corvin's point, I don't think RB2 news will dissuade anyone from buying the Who songs.

I'm pretty sure that Rock Band 2 is going to be featured on GTTV on Spike tonight (or early AM). Expect to see some of the first gameplay videos and such if you're interested.

Good catch. I hadn't heard of that until you mentioned it, but here's what I found on another site:

Friday, July 11 (1:00 - 1:30 AM, ET/PT)

"GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley" (GTTV): E3 Preview

Three days before Xbox hosts its E3 press conference, GTTV heads to Epic Games in North Carolina to meet lead designer Cliff Bleszinski for a sneak preview of Gears of War 2, including world premiere footage from the campaign and multiplayer modes. Then, Spike presents world premieres of some of the biggest titles at E3, including the exclusive sneak peek at the E3 trailer for Bethesda Softworks' Fallout 3; the global debut of Harmonix and MTV Games' Rock Band 2 game footage; Amanda MacKay visits ThatGameCompany to reveal Flower for the PLAYSTATION®3; Spike unveils the next playable faction in Warhammer® 40,000™: Dawn of War® II; and, in a not to be missed event, GTTV presents the world exclusive reveal trailer for the next game from BioWare.
I'll have to watch it tomorrow morning on my DVR.

Looking at the kit again it looks like you can just move the cymbals around. They are all on boom stands and you can see the cords wrapping around the stands. I am sure you could just move them around and plug them into whatever colors you like.

Based upon the lyrics show on those screenshots - has anyone figured if they are from announced songs?
