Re: Duke Nukem Forever Footage
I played the demo and had fun. Like everyone is saying its not groundbreaking but it plays like the duke I remember. I see it getting about a 7 or 8 in the reviews also. Should be mindless fun, and if its truly around 15 hours like I read I think I'll be satisfied with a day one purchase.

It can't be THAT simple of a game. I mean, even the original had jet packs, shrink rays, alternate routes and a bunch of other craziness that still hasn't been topped.

I remember the first two games, although I only played the shareware versions. I got the first one from a disk at a public library (of all places). The second one I downloaded on a 2400 baud modem, and that 2MB file took nearly 2 hours to download.

Re: Duke Nukem Forever Footage
Finally downloaded the demo...not impressed
The aiming and frame rate is horrible, making the shooting nearly impossible. The driving was atrocious, hopefully the full game has little to no driving segments. The graphics are mediocre at best, but understandable for a game that should never have really come out.
Overall I'll play the single player once on easy to say that I played Duke Nukem Forever (and for some achievements), but it's getting immediately returned for something better. My guess is some 5/10 to 7/10 reviews.

Finally realized last night that I had bought Borderlands GOTY. Opened it up and there was my Duke Nukem access pass. So I downloaded the demo last night, I'll play it tonight. We shall see. I have a feeling I will like it better than some of the others here because I have liked Duke since the 2d days rather than the 3d days that a lot of people are familiar with.

Ho boy. I played the demo last night and I can see some of the concerns now.
Good points:
Graphics aren't too bad. Yes, there are a little dated but honestly that doesn't really irk me.
Sound is pretty good, I didn't notice any real problems there.
It certainly is Duke, the twins in schoolgirl skirts were a nice touch.
Bad Points:
When did the enemy become such a crack shot (desert stage)? Luckily, there are things to work behind, but I don't believe there is any cover system and the enemies can hit you from unbelievably far away (and know you are there to boot).
I hope this changes, but it seems like you can only carry a few weapons at a time. No offense, this is Duke, I should be able to carry a refrigerator full of weapons if I want.
And what the heck is Duke doing in a desert? Seriously, he ain't the incredible hulk. He should be in a city, downtown, shooting up a strip club and making the bitches dance. Period.
I dunno, I hope it gets better. My review copy will probably arrive the same week it gets released (that's the way most of the games have come), so hopefully I'll be able to post more comments when I can.

My wife walked in on me playing the Duke Nukem Forever demo and somehow remembered the last game. "Didn't you play that back when we were dating?"

reviews are all over the place for the game, some appreciate the nostalgia factor, others loathe it.

They also gave Infamous 2 a 4.5 / 5 so a 2 out of 5 must really be like a .5 out of 5 on any other site.

I cancelled my preorder. The demo was not impressive, and the reviews seem to confirm that it's representative of the rest of the game. Maybe I'll pick it up from the bargain bin someday, or rent it for the weekend.

Re: Official Duke Nukem Forever Thread of Bad(Classic) Oneliners
I am getting my copy this afternoon, but after the demo, am not really looking forward to it. I'm hoping for a fun 6 hour campaign on easy maybe so I can fly through it this weekend. I'll let you guys know if the final game is any better than the demo.

Anyone know when the demo is going to be up on XBL?
