The new 80GB is going to be 0% PS2 and honestly none of them are 100% PS1, but it is close.

No resume, and a bit laggy at times (3 Mbps DSL connection here).
I don't have "laggy" play issues, it works great. |

I haven't had my PS3 for as long as most here, so I didn't read the older threads. Maybe this suggestion has already been "officially" discouraged?
Was there any discussion about setting up a DVDTalk PSN game sharing thread? |
Naw, I'm cool with paying for the games I want to play. I got this sweet thing today called a paycheck.

Thats what I figured, but got excited when I read the description at Wal-Mart.com. My town still has some bundles left, so I guess I better go and get one. Not really interested in the game, but maybe i'll be surprised. |
Red-Hot Madden 09 Deal!
In case you haven't been checking the CAG boards, there's an awesome deal at Target starting today. They're clearancing out the PS3 version of the Collector's Edition of Madden 09 -- that's Madden 09, Head Coach 09, playable Madden 93 and hours of video. Never mind that it's only three weeks old, it now half price, $44.98. I picked up my copy this morning on my way to work. It won't be around long.
|
Holy crap. I might be interested in picking one up to flip for that price.
|
Went to another Target and it was $63 on clearance, so it might be YMMV to some extent, but yeah, it's a pretty impressive mark down for a three-week-old game. I also picked up UT III for $19.98. Anyone have that one? Is it pretty good?

Mine was $63 as well. I still bought it... I was waiting for the normal version to go down to $49 but I couldn't pass this up.

So the MGS4 80gb version IS backwards compatible, but the 80gb stand-alone console is not???? Is the soon to be released 160gb going to be? I am finally considering picking up a PS3, but would like to be able to play my PS2 titles on it if possible. I can always just keep my PS2 slim, but I am already out of inputs on my set and really don't want 3 consoles (Wii, PS2 and PS3) or another switcher taking up space in my entertainment center. HD size isn't really a factor either, as I will probably replace the drive with something bigger. Oh, and are there any upcoming deals (like the Wal-Mart gift card one)? I'm not in a hurry and would be willing to wait for a good deal. |
There's a good chart on this page listing differences:

Thanks! And....holy cow!! Only composite video cables for a super duper hi-def wonder machine!?! Wow....that's just crappy! Is the component cable for the PS2 compatible by chance?

Plus, it's done with software emulation, rather than hardware. Being a much simpler and less powerful system, it's probably a lot easier to include than PS2 emulation.

It's not a dealbreaker, but geez!! I'll need to keep my PS2 AND buy another video cable for the PS3 (I knew it didn't include and HDMI cable, but no component...again...terrible). |

Typically the items on these deals are known around midnight PST, though I don't think the prices ever are.

Strange, though, that the weaker 360 can emulate the more powerful Xbox(as compared to the PS2).

Woohoo, I had luck at Target for one of the only times ever. I got the following:
-Dark Sector ($9.99, but the sticker on it said $19.99) -Kane & Lynch: Dead Men ($9.99) -Madden NFL 09 20th Anniversary Collectors Edition ($44.99) |

Do they ever include hardware? Last few times it was all software related. Any clues yet? I know I've seen them release hints before.
