Okay, my point about TDK was not that it is or isn't worth $15 to see, I was trying to say that even a big-budget, highly anticipated and well-received movie comes priced the same as an average film (barring Imax, of course). The public expects films to be priced at a certain level and to price any film above that mark would cause people to be upset. In the same way, the gaming public expects XBLA games to be 800 points and to price them higher causes a lot of resistance and, I'm sure, much worse sales numbers. If Braid were 800 points, I bet it would have outsold GW2.

Has anyone done this? I went through the first world as fast as I could and I believe I finished it around 7-8 minutes. I started through World 2 before I realized there was no way in hell I was on pace to finish in under 45 minutes. Hell, I'm not even sure if I can remember how to get all of the pieces again let alone.

Any suggestions on time markers?

It was the last few Worlds that I knew would take me too long to complete. Hell, I'm not even sure if I can remember how to get all of the pieces again let alone.

Oh, and I feel bad for laughing at the leader board people who finished the game mere seconds or less after the 45 minute mark.

It is silly to factor those things into the price of Braid. You've already got the TV, console, internet connection. The only question is whether you will spend $15 more (or $11.25, thanks to Target). No one here will tell you that Braid alone is worth it if you don't already have the 360 console.

I disagree. To get the true Braid experience, you must play it in a 25,000 square foot house while gorging yourself on caviar and champagne. Anything less just won't cut it, so factor all of that into the price of the game.

The mental image of this alone is worth 1200 MSP.

I'd only pay 800 points for that particular mental image. 1200 is ridiculous.

Surf and Wax Off down!!! Finally......

Treaty, I'm convinced, is impossible. I've gotten 27-29 multiple times. They are just super human at that point :(.

Gamespot's review of Pub Games is in. It's a non-enthusiastic 6.5. Doesn't sound like the most thrilling game and certainly won't make much of a splash opposite BCR, but hey, free is free (with preorder) so I'll be giving it a shot. Hope I don't plunge my soon-to-be character into staggering, Bush-administration-like debt.

Anyone heard when the codes used to get Pub Games for free will work? Almost 8:30 and my code, as well asa MANY other people on a ton of boards I checked, keeps coming up invalid.

Michael Corvin 08-13-08 07:35 AM

Sounds like a perfect contender for the 400pt club, if it existed anymore.

pinata242 08-13-08 09:19 AM

Check out the achievements for something called Live Score Tracker: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/a...php?gameID=851

I assume this is some sort of Madden extension or something? Seriously, wtf?

Seconded. Whatever that is, it just seems like a way to give away another 200 gamerscore. 35 points for changing a setting? Seriously?

200 gamerscore is 200 gamerscore to some people. I'm sure it'll sell well just because of the easy achievements.

If Avatar was an XBLA game and couldn't be rented, I bet it would've made boatloads!

Assuming you can access the settings menu from the pause menu, it's really 70 :p

I love that the EA logo is on every achievement.

Shagrath 08-13-08 09:50 AM

Let's not forget some of Madden 09's achievements.

Now Here's a Guy... 50
Thank you for purchasing Madden NFL 09. Here's to another 20 years!
50 points just for buying/renting the game!!

Slam Dunk All-Star 30
Dunk the ball over the goalpost (or at least attempt to) after a touchdown
You don't even have to succeed to get the points!

slop101 08-13-08 09:56 AM

Man, marketing to the OCD gamer is like money in the bank.

Michael Corvin 08-13-08 10:01 AM

Well since Peter Moore is now in charge of sports over there, I think he knows exactly what he's doing with these achievements.

pinata242 08-13-08 10:05 AM

I imagine this will be a stand-alone application that won't require Madden to run, specifically, but may feed Madden with stats. I wonder, though, if it will be free to Madden owners effectively making it a 1200 point game.

Or if they'll just charge 400 points to everyone regardless.

Other than gamerscore whores (guilty! but not to this extent unless free :)) or enhancing the retail game experience, I can't see why this would move at all. I suppose to a subset of users it might be easier to have access to these stats without needing/having a computer and accessing the multitude of websites that already do this sort of thing.

Or if it'll also support NCAA stats and other sports, not just football. I suppose there could eventually be more value in this than initially meets the eye...

lordwow 08-13-08 10:12 AM

Ya, I won't pay to get free stats thanks.

I really like Bionic Commando though.

pinata242 08-13-08 10:21 AM

Minesweeper (with new modes) coming to XBLA: http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-36...eper-Flags/p1/

No mouse = no sale. Hoping some update will enable this finally.

Shirley, this is a 400 point entry, right?
