What about the chat-pad?

The controls are really easy to get used to on the crossword game. After one puzzle I was a fuckin pro at the text entry.

Four Japanese websites are now saying that two titles in the upcoming "Summer Of Arcade", 'Castle Crashers' and 'Braid', will be costing a little more than the usual XBLA title.
+D, Dengeki, Famitsu and the official Japanese Xbox.com blog are now saying 'Braid' will cost 1,200 Points, and 'Castle Crashers' will cost an oddly priced 1,800 Points - making it the most expensive XBLA title to date. While it has not been announced to those of us who speak English, it will comes as a shock to those who have gotten used to paying 800 Points or $10US. Though in all honesty, XBLA and PSN gamers have had it incredibly good for a long time. These titles, had they been on the PC, would have cost at least $20 each. Maybe that time is over. http://www.gamerbytes.com/2008/07/br...s_points_c.php |
1800 points? Castle Crashers does not look like a $22.50 game!
|
Granted, I don't know much about Braid, but the few short youtube videos I watched, I don't see any reason to be over 800 points. But I'm just judging that on context-less gameplay videos.
But, 1800 points for Castle Crashers??? That doesn't make any sense to me. I just don't see Microsoft breaking the 1600 point barrier as that's the denomination of their retail point cards. $22.50 seems like a very weird MSRP for an XBLA title. I guess we'll see... |
It's Japan, they're used to paying out the ass for games.
|
I have my doubts whether i would pay 1600+ for Castle Crashers.
|
I know that CC has been known about for over 2 years now... I can see that there is probably a huge development cost barrier they're going to have to overcome. I doubt even the Penny Arcade game had quite the development time Behemoth has enjoyed. Granted PA has licensing fees and multiple parties to consider that CC wouldn't.
1600 is feeling very likely to me at this point and unless the demo shits in my eye, I'm probably going to pay :( BTW, I'm not opposed to paying for a little fecal play from some of you, but not a demo. |

Yeah, there goes my interest in Castle Crashers...
|
Me too, if it's 1800 points i'll pass.
|
Unless I'm extremely hyped for a game, 1200 points is really my limit. I love to support smaller developers like Behemoth, but not at that sort of price. I could change my mind if the reviews are stellar and if it sounds like I could get many many hours of play out of it, but even then, the price will be tough to swallow.

The same price on Live arcade and i think they are trying to screw me. |
Put a parrot on my shoulder because I agree with you guys. For $25 if I don't like the game, at least I can sell it. But with XBLA, it's mine forever.
Of course, on the flip side, downloaded games are better for the developer and MS for that very reason. |

I don't care if Castle Crashers is $60! I'd buy it!
Having less of you haters on the leaderboards means I have a better chance at getting some more real-life trophies from Behemoth! Next to Harmonix, they're one of my favorite devs, as they're so down to earth and seem to genuinely care about their customers. |
Has there been any word on future versions of Worms?

I'd be very surprised if the other games weren't 800 points each. They're packaging them as almost a set, the "Summer of the Arcade". For them to get funky with the pricing would be very odd. For their one-and-only 1600 point title, they were making the public aware of the increased price for a long time in advance.
So first thing this AM, I downloaded the trial of Geometry Wars 2. As I expected, it's more of the same, but with slightly revamped garphics and new game modes. Kind of like the player booster packs for Super Stradust HD. And as I expected, Pixy has already put up an obscenely huge score. Come back Pixy, I miss you! |
Dude was on there at 5:30am CST racking up a 6M+ score on the first mode, Deadline. I had to go to work after only 2 attempts and extremely tired. I liked what I played so far.
|
I love Geometry Wars 2 so far very addictive, I highly recommend it. It's kind of a shame they don't let you demo all the game modes, I hope this does not turn people away. I was up early myself and lost track of time and almost missed work.
