I haven't had the cab problem happen very often, maybe only a handful of times. I usually whistle near a cab and usually on the passenger side.

I've been playing for about 25 hours now and I've never had it jack the cab instead of just getting in the backseat. I'll watch what I'm doing and see if I can give any tips as well.

Yeah, I think you have to hail the cab before being able to enter it as a passenger.

Haven't had the cab problem, so not sure what to tell you guys on that. The only problem I do have with them is sometimes trying to find a damn cab.

Not true. Most of the time when I enter a cab as a passenger, I do not hail the cab first. Many times, I just stand in front of it so it stops. And there are a bunch of times where I threw out a passenger already riding and got in the back seat. As far as I know, cabs will not pull over for you if they already have a passenger inside.

I beat the game yesterday, and it was the first GTA I ever beat. I got to the last missions on both GTA3 and Vice City, but never completed them. I'm not sure what it was about GTA4, but it just seemed easier. Now i've gotta work on getting 100%

You do not have to whistle first since I have kicked people out of cabs to use them. You might think you are holding it, but if you press, and then say to yourself "oh shit I'm supposed to hold it" and then try holding it, it won't work. It recognizes the first action.

I figured you had to whistle first, but maybe the only requirement is that the cab stops first. Whistling causes that if you're close enough, but of course it will also stop at other times such as at a red light.

Yeah I usually whistle and I swear I'm holding the button down. No biggie. For some reason it just seems to happen to me all the time. This game has it quirks and I just have to try the coming at the cab from behind and a bit further away before pressing it.

BTW, some of the assassination missions are fun and I had a weird thing happen. I pick up the phone to get the info and when I'm walking to my car I get hit from behind by 3 or 4 trucks out of no where killing me. Weird as hell. I guess there was a wreck or something behind me I didn't notice. Hell of a way to lose on a mission.

I'm pretty sure the only difference between taking the cab as a passenger and jacking it is how long you hold the button.

I concur. On PS3, it tells you to hold triangle rather than press it to get it as a passenger.

Alright, here's something that happened to me. I am walking around and I see a random new icon on my radar. Something like a very slim triangle/arrow. I walk near it and it's a junkie. It goes into a small cut-scene type thing where he tells me he is rich and is giving money away. He gives me $100.

What the hell just happened?

You met one of the random characters in the game. He has a couple of other "missions" as well.

I have yet to meet a single random character.

I've met a handful. I'm not sure about the description on the map; I always figured it looked like a little blue dude on your minimap.

Every character you have a choice to kill or save except for one major character will pop up as a Random Character later on if you let them live. Thankfully, the four people



will not affect your achievement because you have already met them.

I wonder if it has something to do with the PS3s pressure sensitive buttons, because I have not had any problems jumping into a cab as a passenger on the 360 at all, save for one or two times.

Just beat this tonight, 65%, 40 hours.

For the cab, I also think you have to wait or get close enough for it to display "Hold ^ to enter cab as a passenger"

I'm still having problems joining multiplayer games when an invite is sent. Is anyone else having this problem or know of any solutions?

I have a PS3 and have no problems getting into a cab by holding triangle.

The only time I've jacked a cab when I wanted to ride in it was when I parked my car across the road to stop a cab. The cab hit the car, the driver got out and yelled at me and when I attempted to get in, Niko just shoved the driver out of the way and jacked the cab. I normally just run into the middle of the street, a cab will knock me down and then I get in as a passenger with no problems.

If you can't tell, I had no idea you could whistle for a cab. I often chase them on foot towards red lights. Now I feel stupid.

Sorry if this has been answered before but in the mission by Ivan to kill my cousin what happens if I let him die? Do I lose the ability to get the free cab rides? Should I let them all live or all die? Does it really matter for the game progression? Do you get any gifts if you let them live? Thanks.

Ivan doesn't ever send you to kill your cousin, as I recall. But for anyone you have a choice to kill or not kill, if you let them live they will be around later in the game as random characters you can meet on the street.

Here's a question. When I steal a cop car I can get into the most wanted list, etc. Can I go hunt down these dudes and help the 5-0 get that riff-raff off the street? Do I just drive around the area they are mentioned to be in and then hope to run into them or what?

Yeah, I know the mission he's talking about, but Ivan is the character you're sent to kill, not your cousin Roman.
