I'll have to download the demo tonight. My bro-in-law is a big fan of wrestling and wants this game.

Why would you need an Action Replay to play Fire Pro Returns?

ah, nvm, you said PS2. When I played it on my PS3, I just downloaded some PS2 edit packs.

I messed around with the demo for about 15 minutes last night, and wasn't all that impressed....I'll have to play it a little more to make up my mind for sure

Just a note with the demo, you can also play as Stone Cold Steve Austin in the demo if you go under the "Relive" option. I don't think there's a way to play as The Rock.

I DL it last night late but have yet to play. From what I read it's not just the "Rastln" but you also have the ring side managers in play. I read the small write up over at TeamAbox and when they mentioned Bobby "The Brain" I nearly fell out laughing. No doubt those times were a hoot. I just wish someone would make a good "Rastlin" game with the same fun factor as the ones that came out on the PS2. What laughs!

I played the demo and so far I'm not really digging it. I really HATE the controls. I am a big fan of the latest SvR incarnation, and I understand that they wanted to simplify the controls scheme, but it seems like someone decided "Face buttons only!!!" not realizing that there's still a lot of different actions that need to be mapped to those few buttons. So yes, you only use the 4 face buttons, but to do different things you now have X do one thing, X,X do another, and X,X,X do yet something else. Much more confusing than if they just mapped one of those to RB or one of the trigger buttons.

I like the premise of the game, the "Relive" scenarios are cool, I liked the video intro to the Stone Cold vs The Rock match from the demo, but playing the actual match was awful, I ended up just spamming basic punches over and over as it was too annoying to try and get different actions out of the wonky control schemes.

When will I be able to download it since I'm not a paying member of XBL right now?

Would there be anything wrong with creating a new profile just to get the one month of gold for free and then downloading it that way?

I don't see a problem with that.

i thought the demo was really fun, and definitely picking up the game on release date. The only thing i found difficult was the pin system where you have to stop the meter at the blue area and the blue gets smaller and smaller as you take more damage. Just need to get use to the new controls but i think this game has potential.

I'm looking forward to playing the other relive/rewrite/redefine matches, and also wondering the other objectives for Rock/Austin which were blocked from the demo.

I enjoyed the demo. Very arcadey with lots of nostalgia. Graphics looks nice. I had fun with it. I might actually pick this one up day one. Is there a final list of wrestlers yet?

Somehow I ended up playing as The Rock but I wasn't given 100% control of his movement / attacks.... Not sure what that's about.

I'm enjoying the demo, but I have noticed the lack of depth in regards to the moves.

I am, however, looking forward to buying the full game and playing with all of the classic superstars.

For those who don't have SvR 09 and want to get for the wrestler transfer feature in the Legends of Wrestlemania game, Amazon.com currently has the Collector's Edition for $33.78:

I hate quick-time events and the use of them in this game really brings it down IMO. I loved the nostalgia and the attention to detail... even the fonts for the wrestler titles looked to be true to the era. But the gameplay, I'm not sold on it. Maybe when the price is right.

I'm going to Gamefly this one, cause I'm curious how the imported SVR characters play. If the whole package is decent, maybe I'll keep it.

I think the controls are MILES better than the controls on the recent Smackdown vs Raw games. Seems like there's more strategy involved w/ this Legends game. (not much more, mind you... it's not Fire Pro..., but more).

Is it me or does the ring seem too small?

Not a bad game - pretty excited about the characters list I saw at IGN - lots of old NWA people listed. Still, can't believe Macho Man isn't in there.

There's an excellent interview by Jeff Gerstmann with Sgt. Slaughter over at giantbomb.com. You can tell Jeff knows his history of wrestling and asks some important questions about Randy Savage:

At first, Slaughter says he has no idea what happened, and that he doesn't even know where Savage is or what he's doing. Slaughter then hints at the fact that when Savage left WWE, he made it personal between him and McMahon. He finishes that segment looking at the camera and asking Savage to give Vince a call and to try to patch things up.
