My copy of Rumble Roses XX says otherwise.rotfl You think they put a breast enhancer slider & photography mode in there for the heck of it? (Don't answer that.)

If you buy the odd games that you know we only get 1 or 2 copies of, and you know when it's coming out, preorder it. The game will be sealed waiting for you. Problem solved.

Sorry, but that is just COMPLETELY contrary to information YOU already posted in this thread:

We actually do not hold any copies, reserved or not. We are supposed to sell to anyone. I just hold limited editions if we only get a few in.

Right there, you stated that a pre-order is essentially meaningless...so which is it really??

Also, there have already been examples posted by users where they did pre-order a copy, and the store still opened it! So there really is no "problem solved" at all!

Buy it from Amazon, problem solved.

I mean, if you're going to preorder anyway, I can't remember the last time there was a game that was unavailable on Amazon shortly before release, barring some really limited edition or exclusive items.

Wait, there's an adult version of Video Game Talk?

There is, but it's mostly threads by pinata talking about his penis.

Just in the interest of closure, a followup on the question I asked several weeks ago about buying used games just for the achievements and returning them for full credit.

I was at a Gamestop today and asked the guy specifically about this. He said that their return policy on used games allows you to return a used game within seven days for any reason whatsoever. If you don't like it, if you beat it, just want achievements, whatever. And you'll get a full refund with whatever you originally paid with, if it was cash or store credit or whatever. And there's a 30-day return policy if it doesn't work.

Does anyone know if there is a site that shows how much Gamestop gives for trade-in games?

While it's good to have a month long return policy, I'd imagine some people will purposfully scratch the game up in order to receive a refund.

does Gamestop's site let you see how much trade-in value a particular game is? and if so, is that the same as in-store trade in?

GS's site doesn't, but CAG has a list that is updated by members daily. Click on the trade-in values tab at the top, select GS from the list and type in the game's title.

As far as I know, they occasionally post values for a handful of 'top wanted trades'. The guys on CAG keep a pretty exhaustive list though and the thread's nearly always on the first page of the deals forum. That's where I check values if I'm thinking about trading in there. Honestly, though, I've never seen them have a straight-up trade price that wasn't a rip off. The only times they're decent is if there's a special/coupon going on.

So the controller that came with my new Xbox Slim that I bought at Gamestop about a month ago has an issue (RB button barely works). I called GS and the guy told me to just bring it in and they'd swap it out, no need to return the entire package. I took it in and the guy proceeds to offer me a pre-owned white controller in exchange for my new black controller. I said "no thanks, I'll exchange it through Microsoft" and walked out.

What did you expect him to do? Open another brand new system to give you a control, then defect out the entire system (not that he has any slims anyways)

He was being nice in even saying he would switch it for you.

^ Hence the reason I never buy anything from Gamestop. I'll walk in there while my girlfriend is clothes shopping and I need something to do, but Gamestop employees rank with toll booth operators, in my book.

I find it funny how you always make it sound like whenever a GameStop employee provides even a basic level of customer service, they are going so far out of their way and we should be ever so grateful for taking that sliver of time out of their hectic and demanding job. It's the pitch perfect parody of the attitude of the chain and its employees that personifies why they are generally hated by educated consumers.

Here's the thing, if you have a new controller that is defective, you have every right to have it replaced with a new controller of the same type. If Gamestop is not able to provide that, that is fine, but he should've been very clear about what he could provide (that it is a pre-owned controller from an older system), and let the customer know that if that is not satisfactory, then he can contact Microsoft.

That would've saved the customer a trip, and would have been much more effective customer service.

 The attitude once I got to the store was "here's what you get, take it or leave it, I couldn't care less."

And as for what I expected him to do, no, I didn't expect him to open a nonexistent Slim package and hand me the new controller out of it. I expected my new, defective controller to be replaced with a new, non-defective controller. Didn't really care if it was one of the older black standalone versions, just as long as it matched in color and didn't have some 11-year-old's Cheetos dust stains on it.

I went in on Saturday just to browse a bit and saw that Grand Slam Tennis for Wii is only $14.99 New. I take the box to the lady and I had a feeling that she would say that this is the last one so of course she says exactly that (this is after she spends all of 5 seconds looking for a new copy).

I am like what the fuck are you doing really loudly and there are a bunch of people in the store. "I'm not buying it if it's an opened up," she's like "Really" as if I'm asking for Mohammed. I tell her that I am tired of this shit that you guys pull. Everytime I want to buy a new game they try to pawn me a used copy. I walked off but I think I scared a few people from buying there again.

I have a question, isn't that illegal when they try to do that? Shouldn't they be fined for shit like that?
