Fair point, but two caveats:

1. The Boston pack, regardless of number of songs is only 1 song away from being Boston's first album in its entirety (considering Long Time is in the game proper).

2. The Boston pack was a far more playable collection of songs than this or the Judas Priest album...at least for most people.

I'm just not sure I'm feeling this "whole album" release concept when compared with the six-pack releases. It sounds good at face value, but there are really only 10-20 albums that I like enough (cover to cover) to buy.

This isn't even the Cars' best album, and I'll probably only get Best Friends Girl and Just What I Needed. A Cars six-pack that included Magic and You Might Think would have been a more welcome release from my point of view.

Of course, I'll change my tune when Doolittle comes out...

I am so stoked for MUSE.

Tough wait till Thursday on PS3.

I picked up Blink, Faith No More & Muse. It's hard to resist 80pt. tunes.

True that.

I DLed Sugar Magnoia last week, though I barely knew it. Should have spent the extra buck on Casey Jones in hindsight.

I think I can resist Faith No More next week, but I like the Blink song...and MUSE is an automatic download.

After going through The Cars tracks...I remembered them being a lot better. Don't think they have necessarily aged well.

Snagging My Best Friend's Girl for sure, but will wait to see the charts on the others.

But I also don't really care for JP, and I thought that was an awesome album on Rock Band.

Ugh. This will be another week without DLC for me...that's four in a row.

The beauty is that you can pick just the tracks you want though. They may, at a later date, put out another Cars' album, or just a select few tracks. They have made mention that certain artists might get their full catalog into the game, which just blows my mind!

I don't disagree on either of these points, although there are enough songs on there that I do love that I'd probably wind up buying the rest just for the sake of completion.

anybody know if they plan on adding an option to "Play Album" in Rock Band? I would love to play an album straight trough instead of trying to remember the song order and dealing with going back and forth to the menu.

The devs said "no" at this point.

After listening to the Cars album again, I may pass on the whole thing

I will get Just What I Needed though.

Point is that I think the album concept is a bit of a waste of resources vs. putting together a solid 3 or 6 pack of handpicked songs.

I think there are only two songs on the Cars album that I "love" (Best Friend's Girl and Just What I Needed). I'd rather just have a $5.49 3-pack with those two and You Might Think, which would make a great Rock Band Song.

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/c8oZZJojROo&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/c8oZZJojROo&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

The other cars song that stick out for me (Shake It Up and Magic) probably wouldn't be much fun to play...just like most of this album.

Oddly enough, I have yet to download a single pack because they always have a song that isn't worth $1.49 to me. The closest I've come was the Boston pack. I bought More Than a Feeling, Peace of Mind and Rock and Roll Band when it was $.99).

'Eh. It really depends on the album and artist. Hard to go wrong with Boston's debut album. They just need to pick albums that clearly have very few low points, like (previously mentioned), Queensryche's: Operation Mindcrime, The Who's Tommy, or even more recent, Pearl Jam's Ten.

Plus you can cherry pick the one's individually if you want.

It was in the last press release touting sales and announcing the Cars/Judas Priest full album releases. It was in this thread, or the last one.

*edit - found it on the first page:
The download will not include any special play-the-album mode or add-ons based on the band.
So I guess they didn't address future features directly, but I'm sure they are aware people want it. They really just need a custom setlist and you can set it up yourself along with other tunes.

I would buy that one no questions asked!

Unfortunately, there's only a few other ones I can say that about...off the top of my head...

Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Muse - Absolution
Radiohead - The Bends
Pixies - Doolittle
Red Hot Chili Peppers - BSSM or Californication
AC/DC Back in Black
Weezer - Blue or Green Album
Def Leppard - Hysteria
pick a Beatles album...but I'd still rather have a Grateful Dead type pack

...maybe a few others.

I would definitely buy Weezer's first album.

I also hope they put a little indie rock into the game, but I don't think it's very likely.

Definitely Back in Black. Maybe Metallica's Black album. The Violent Femmes debut would work as well.

Ditto that!

But still...I think I'd prefer a six pack that included American Music and Freak Magnet.

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime is another obvious album choice.
