so it appears Amazon is offering .99 release date delivery options on pre-orders that are eligible for release date delivery

a nice perk if you don't have Prime

Didn't that used to be one of the perks of pre-ordering with them, regardless whether you had Prime or not?

I don't remember it being an old perk. They used to ship the day before release so if you were close by you would get it on release, if you were further away it was later. That is at least what I remember.

Cool deal on the 99cents shipping, I usually shy away from ordering from Amazon because I live in NY and they charge tax.

Alan Wake Limited Edition is down to $39.99 and Final Fantasy XIII is $19.99 (PS3 only)

Snagged Demon's Souls for $20 yesterday during the Amazon lightning deal. Hope it's not as brutally hard as it's known for...

Is is, especially when you're first starting out, but in a good way.

Read up on how the game works before you start, and then read it again after you play a little. It is in general pretty hard (in that even leveled up, enemies can kill you if you make a dumb mistake), but the first part in particular is pretty difficult until you beat the first boss, after which the game opens up a bit and it becomes a lot more fun.

I've had Demon's Souls sitting on my shelf for months now and it's that "brutal difficulty" that keeps causing me to pick something else to play instead.

And that's why I don't own it.

It's not hard as in "unfair," more that you have to be really deliberate. There are also a ton of nuances that you have to really read up about to understand, stuff like getting good items from the geckos and using world tendency to your advantage.

Sounds like life and my job... meh, I'd rather play a game that is mindless and fun.

This isn't a deal, but I didn't want to start a new thread just for this question:

If I pre-ordered a game before Amazon was offering a $10 gift card, is it automatically included once they add it, or do I have to do something to update my order?

Decker 09-18-10 10:52 AM

Re: Amazon Video Game Deal Thread .

It automatically gets added. That's part of their pre-order guarantee.

Heads-up, the Gold Box for 9/21 will feature PS3 deals all day long.

Heavy Rain is Deal of the Day at $39.99. I'm sure someone at CAG already guessed the rest of the games. I know NHL 11 will be one of them

Madden 11 is up now for $44.99

Re: Amazon Video Game Deal Thread .

Wish this was for the 360... I still need to get NHL 11 so I'm all over it for the PS3 either way.

Speculation is that Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions is up after Madden 11. I've seen that for $49 locally so hopefully they come in under that.

Interesting. Hopefully their price for Singularity will be a bit better than the last Gold Box.

If you guys want the jump the deals are being announced a few hours ahead of time on Twitter.

The next one is clearly NHL11. But the price is gonna be $44.99. $12 less than I paid a week ago!

C'mon PS3ers. The DVDTalk twikoffs of the EASHL need your participation.

Hmmm...$45 right now. I do have a $20 Gaming credit, so I may bite. Although, I have a huge backload right now of games.

NHL supersedes all backlogs. Plus if you haven't tried the Ultimate Team format yet, it's super, highly, insanely addictive. IMO, of course. Besides, you can't really wait to buy/play sports games. It's now or never. You're either a twikoff or you're not. Plus you can be the only non-Pittsburgh DVDTalker on the team. I mean, where else would you rather be than surrounded by a bunch of Penguins fans?

I bit on NHL11... Not sure I have the time to be in the DVDTalk league though.
