I don't own it (yet ;) ) but from what I gather this is just a massive DLC pack on disc. Sort of a Shivering Isles-type deal, but released separately. It definitely does not include the original game.

Yeah, Awakenings is an add-on. You need the original game disc, from what I remember hearing.

That's a pretty massive discount and it's going fast.

I really think I would have bought it if I used the RB guitars. I really need to make the transition, but I know my game will suffer in the short term :(

That really was a great discount on the guitar. I couldn't rationalize it though. My mind was still flashing, it's $100 for a toy, not a real guitar and I love Rock Band as much as the next fan. I did like though it had the option for the overdrive pedal cause I can't tell you how flakey my overdrive is on my 2 360 guitars (both are Guitar Hero guitars, one is wired and one is wireless). On one, I have to be really sharp with my pullups and the other one I barely flick it up and it goes off. But alas, I led it go by. Le sigh.

This. I have an RB wired guitar, the Paul McCartney bass, a Guitar Hero III and a Guitar Hero IV guitar. Spending $100 on yet another one I could not justify.

I got the MadCatz guitar the last time it was $100. I was on the fence since it's a toy guitar but my Strat had recently died so I bit the bullet. Totally fucking worth it. Greatest guitar I've used and really added something to the game. You guys are missing out.

I'm thinking of buying this. What's the likelihood of SMG2 going on sale with SMG1 when it comes out? I don't want to miss out on a deal b/c I didn't wait the few weeks (miss the $33 price or the possible combo deal later)

I'm in the same boat but I figure by the time I get around to buying and finishing ME1, #2 will get a price drop. :)

How is the guitar in Guitar Hero 5? I think Amazon is still selling the guitar and game for $38. Thinking of buying it just for the guitar and then selling the game as I'm a Rock Band guy. Thoughts?

Re: Amazon Video Game Deal Thread .

Not the thoughts you want, but GH5 is actually pretty solid. It still pales in comparison to RB, but it's probably the best non-Harmonix developed Guitar Hero game. It's worth giving a spin for a week or so before you dump it.

Thanks Chew...no CAG @ work.

I'm in for Bioshock 2 for $26 since I already have something in mind to use the credit on (3D Dot Game Heroes).

I'm kind of tempted to check out Demon's Souls too...even though it doesn't really seem like my kind of game/aesthetic.

Re: Amazon Video Game Deal Thread .

Demon's Souls is now $35.99 instead of $39.98. A really great deal for the game at essentially $25.99 with the credit. I kept my eye on this title for months and it was stuck firmly at $59.99, so I finally snagged it on eBay for around $40. That was a couple of weeks ago and since then the Amazon price has dropped like a stone, so you're welcome!

It's funny that if you factor in the $10 credit, this is actually a better deal on Mass Effect 2 than the Gold Box event of a whole 2 days ago, when I ordered it.

Also, Heavy Rain dropped a couple more dollars so it's now $49.99 rather than $51.99 as listed above.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking the credit is a discount on the original purchase. It's not a discount until you buy something else. I think a lot of people "mentally" apply it twice.

Yeah, I love that thinking.

"I'm buying Bioshock 2 for $25!"
*3 weeks later*
"Woo, an extra $10 off another game because of my credit! I'm paying only $50!"

Re: Amazon Video Game Deal Thread .

I see that a lot on CAG and SD. It's pretty funny how people will justify a purchase.

This sounds obvious as I type it out, but I've always thought of the credit as half the value on each transaction.
