matty - thanks for the heads up about a boy and his blob. I went ahead and got that and Madworld for $26 shipped. 13 bucks a game, not bad...especially considering that they are both supposed to be good.

Oblivion GOTY was the DOTD today for 17.99 but is OOS already, I hope it goes back up. I just started playing the regular version and would gladly pay for the 2 expansions at that price.

Gosh I love Amazon:

Battlefield BC 2 - $60 plus 20 dollar credit

Final Fantasy XIII - $40 using the 20 credit, earned another $10 credit

God of War 3 - $45 bucks using $10 credit

And I earned another 10 buck credit for buying GOW3.

Now I plan to buy Heavy Rain this weekend using 10% off coupon and earning 150 bonus RZ points.

If you know someone who owns it, the extra content is just on the disk and can be installed to the HD. I rented it from Gamefly 2 years ago and still have all the expansions on my HD.

Question: If I’m not a huge RPG fan, and plan on picking up FFXIII and Fallout 3 sometime in the future, is it worth picking up Oblivion at this point?

Oblivion is a great game, but it's definitely a commitment in both complexity and length...and Fallout 3 was better (or at least the setting was more to MY liking).

Still, I'd say yes.

It's $18 and like new copies sell for around $20 on half.com and the amazon marketplace. I'd check out any game I was somewhat curious about with those circumstances. That said, I loved Fallout 3 and really wanted to like Oblivion, but kept it for about 2 days after picking it up. I just couldn't get into it, which is a recurring problem with me for most RPGs.

Oblivion has a much slower start, in terms of narrative, than most games...but once you get rolling, it's pretty rewarding. I don't like RPGs generally or high fantasy specifically, and I still had a lot of fun exploring Oblivion. :shrug:

I was completely hooked on Oblivion for about a month. Took notes, was trying to do all the side quests, got maybe half way through. Keep saying that I will go back and finish it someday, but at this point I'd have to start from scratch, so I doubt I'll ever play again. Should probably just sell it and the guide.

It's very immersive and a lot of fun, but perhaps not good for my OCD 'must do every little bit, but has a super short attention span' personality.
