re: the $50, the BB CS person told me that their system automatically refunds the difference in the form of a gift card. I guess this could be site-specific, but that wasn't the way it came off.

1. Thanks for posting all of this...it will all come in handy if this happens to me in the future as I also have a TON of dl'd games.

2. The actual contract language is like item (and not like price) so they should have adjusted it, but they haven't for me once in the past and obviously didn't with you. Awesome break.

One last update: Emmanuel from Nintendo left me a voicemail saying that the content has been transferred over, I just need to re-download it all. He also said this is a one-time exception, so that I'll need to call them if this has to be done again and get my wii repaired officially. I've got 15 months of warranty coverage through them at this point, so hopefully that won't be an issue.

Good luck, other Wii-ers!

One time exception. F them. Forgive us for wanting to play the content we paid for.

The fucked up thing is that, now that I'm in their system, I'm sure that the process would require about 3-4 minutes (at least on my end), including dialing Nintendo and going through their automated phone system.

been playing New Super Mario Bros Wii for a couple days and it's pretty good- multiplayer is suprisinly fun/frantic. Level design is good. Not a huge fan of 3d character models (wouldve preferred 2d sprites). The thing that surprised me is that it is actually somewhat challenging. Definitely worthy of a purchase.

Good to hear about the challenge. New Super Mario Bros for the DS was the easiest game I think I've ever played.

I might re-buy a Wii for this.

What's wrong with $47 at Amazon + $10 credit?

I wanted it on Sunday without the hassle of buying / returning.

I already have it preordered from amazon but even with 2 day prime it has an eta arrival of Wed. UPS also always seems to deliver my crap after 6:30PM. I waited forever for that damn beatles rb bundle to show up.

Yeah, let's see Amazon's "street day delivery" come through on a game street-dated for a Sunday.

I think Gamestops are opening early on Sunday (9 am) for this game.

That's only for certain games and this is obviously not one of them. But essentially $13 to play it a day or two earlier? More power to ya. :)

Plus, it "feels" like you get the credit twice, so it's really $23! Sort of...

I turned my Wii yesterday for the first time in months! Because I changed my wireless network settings and wanted to make sure it could connect. Finally got v4.2 of the firmware installed.

According to a user on CAG, NSMB forces the update anyway, so anyone who has been to lazy to this point will probably be updating it soon.

Buy a Wii and get for free... Wii Fit Plus Bundle and a $50 GC to Amazon.

No, you have to buy the Wii and the Wii Fit Plus Bundle and you get the $50 GC free.

$289.98 base cost.

Whoa, you're right. I totally read that wrong. Hence why I should never break the rule of posting before noon.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Here's something that I haven't ever said: I played the Wii last week more than the PS3

Yeah, me too - besides New Mario, I also dug out a chunk of A Boy And His Blob along with Muramasa. I'm loving all the great 2D games - and weird how there weren't many (if any) 2D games on the Cube last gen, but now there's all sorts of 2D goodness.

Thanks for the Heads-up. Against my better judgement, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this deal for my wife for Christmas. She's been on my case about getting a Wii for a while now, and mainly so she can "work out" -rolleyes- , so I figure this is as good a time as any.

This will be my first Wii. Any suggestions on where to start? Do I need "accessories"? I figure I should get a pink and a purple skin for the Wiimotes (wife and 5-year old daughter). Do I need to get component cables, or does this thing come with them? Is HDMI an option?

Kelkee 11-18-09 12:13 PM

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

Component cables not included.
Wii does not do HDMI at all.

You only get one Wiimote and Numbchunk in the box. So if you want to play games at the same time you will have to buy extras.

Re: Official Wii thread -Part IX

Ordered an extra Wiimote and Nunchuck with the system.

Best recommendation for component cables? Monoprice has a couple of options, but their white one I want is sold out.

this is the only one they have in stock. Anyone know what "Net Jacket" means?

Is there a Wii Accessories thread so I don't have to clutter this one up?

It just looks like Net Jacket means a different pattern for the cable cord. I bought the white component cable from Monoprice and it was worth it. Much better graphics.

If you plan on downloading Virtual Console games, get a Classic Controller.

Thanks Zeke. I found the accessories thread. Think I'll move this conversation over there.
