The Metal Gear Solid series is one of my favourite gaming franchises of all-time. I've loved all three of them (my favourite was Snake Eater, though.) Metal Gear Solid 4 is one of my most anticipated games. It was (and probably still is) my most anticipated game, but the frequent delays made me kinda put it out of my mind so I wouldn't get too excited and then hear about more delays. I'll be there first day to pick it up and I'll play the shit out of it. I'm sure it'll be phenomenal and hopefully my decision to basically buy a PS3 for it (and Blu-ray of course,) was a good decision.

Just got 2 beta codes yesterday, but can't play it until April 21st. Almost time to dust off my PS3

Probably my most anticipated game ever. Also, the reason I bought a PS3.

Yeah I cannot wait for this. Went to pick up my DVD and beta and then it hit me: MGS4 is (kinda) almost here!

Quick question do you have to purchase the LE to get the beta or can you get the reg. edition and still get the beta?

I think you have to order the LE.

I've been following the coverage and this game seems to be shaping up well. Even though I never played the original games (beyond a little bit of MGS1), I would buy this on release day. I don't have a PS3 yet though so it will be a down the road purchase. It sounds like the controls have been improved a ton over the previous games with nods to some of the western shooters.

No, the regular edition pre-orders also get the disc.

[Credit to CAG] Best Buy is selling the bonus disc with beta access for $5. This money does not go towards a preorder of MGS4. Since I'm more interested in Metal Gear online than I am part four, I went ahead and ordered one with instore pickup.

I picked one of these up from Best Buy yesterday. There is a sticker on the back of the dvd telling you how to obtain credit for the deposit.

I'm looking foward to this but I find amusing that the visuals in the trailers that impressed me so much when videos and images of this game were first being released, don't wow me at all anymore.

I think games like Uncharted, Assassins Creed, and Call Of Duty 4 (heck, even Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and Devil May Cry 4) have set the bar too high.

I know the whole Metal Gear Online Beta is screwed up and delayed but I have a question. When I register for a Konami ID like the beta says to do they say they will be sending me a confirmation e-mail. I never showed up and I have changed my e-mail just to make sure my one account wasn't blocking the address. I know the beta starts a little later but are they not sending out confirmation e-mails at this time either?

The 1.02 patch isn't very big, it should go pretty quick for you.

Last I heard, Euro and Japan betas have started and NA is expected to shortly.

Tried it over the weekend... meh, it was alright, but not worthy of the registration process... the damn game requires too many names to play on-line.

I like the pace though, if your team is really organized, tons of fun Of course, it could be one of those baseball game thing you play when you were little, where you might be assigned with a "boring" role, lol.

I'm pretty sure he's referring to the multiplayer game coming out. There is a beta up right now.

Rumor has it that the top Beta testers will be awarded with the super rare Gunmetal Grey PS3 MGS bundle... I don't know what that means, but if it's a Beta lotto drawing, i might have a chance.
