Halo 3 - Heroic Map Pack FREE (starting 3/25)

According to the latest Bungie update, the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack will be FREE starting March 25th. It figures. I just bought them a week or two ago.

By now you’re probably aware that Avalanche (pictured above: rollover for the weapon/vehicle placements in one-sided gametypes) is the second map coming in the Legendary Map pack, available April 15th on Xbox Live Marketplace. Aside from the April 15th date meaning more new maps coming to Halo 3, it also means the Heroic Maps are going to be free as of March 25th at 2 a.m. Pacific. Remember, as of the April playlist update, the Free Heroic Maps will be required in Ranked Big Team, Social Big Team, Team Slayer and Rocket Race playlists. We’re requiring these maps in the following playlists to give players more options with the map rotations and by including a high population playlist like Team Slayer, we hope that the maps will permeate through the Community, resulting in more games played on these maps in Matchmaking.

Isn't March 25th the start of the Battlefield Demo?

Guess I will be playing Halo 3 again in the next few days. I love the game but for massive games like this with such a long online life I was more than willing to wait it out. But I have to say the newest maps they are talking about seem pretty cool so I may end up paying for those right away after I've gotten back into the habit of playing on a regular basis.

Hah, I almost bought these a couple days ago. At this rate I may never buy Map packs.

You should know that all the map packs will be free after a certain time.

Yep, they always make them free after a decent sized wait. They normally go free shortly before the next map pack is released.

Yeah the drawback is that by that time the Hardcore Pricks have learned all the Sniper points, glitches, and weapon locations.

Awesome. Can't wait to finally try them out. $2 a a map is my limit. 3 for $10 was out of the question.

I have probably 80 DVDtalkers and friends on my friends list. At any given time I have 20-30 people online and rarely do I ever see anyone playing Halo. It's weird, up until Halo 3 launched I'd see people still playing Halo 2 but 6 months after Halo 3 it's a ghost town. Odd.

I played the other night. First time in a while. Had to go through an update. I wonder how old that was.

I was talking about how Bungie did the Halo maps.
