It has to handshake each time there's a switch, and maybe your TV doesn't handle it properly every time.
I would suggest unchecking 1080i and 720p, but some (many?) games don't support scaling to 1080p, so those would scale down to 480p.

If it shows up again, I'll probably give Vizio a call, as I have a 3 year warranty, and see if there's a problem with the TV.

For those trying to pick which version, I'd say get the PS3 one. Even though it's clumsily implemented, the ability to constantly DL new user-created levels gives the game nearly infinite longevity. It's also one of the only games where (at least at times) the sixaxis motion controls are mre intuitive than the analog sticks. This game is SO worth $10. It really puts a lot of recent XBLA titles to shame. Too bad they didn't bundle both versions for like $15. That would be a deal I'd jump at.

Hey everyone. I just bought a playstaion 3 last night and im pretty excited. I have one question though.
I know you can't have closed captions (not talking about subtitles) but closed captions through hdmi however in the past i just switch to s-video through my upconverter dvd player.
So my question is this. If i buy a PS3 s-video cable(not using hdmi), will close captioning go through by switching to PS3 s-video or am i going to have to stick to the old dvd player?

I know everyone was very down on Lair when it came out. Now that I can get if for $15 at Target, I was wondering if it's worth that price and whether the patch makes it a fun game now?

Can't speak for the patch, but I'd say $15 is decent for Lair.

The PS3 has been the pissiest for handshaking problems of all my HDMI devices. Especially with the drop from the main screen into a game/movie.

Gamefly's got some pretty good deals on pre-rented games, with no shipping cost right now. I know everyone probably has horror stories about buying rented games from Blockbuster or some other rental store, but I've always received great games from them, and because they don't rent out the boxes or instructions, those are usually pristine.

I'd love to get Ratchet & Heavenly Sword, but having finished them both already, I'm going to wait until they're closer to $10-$15.

R&C, HS and Drake are all keepers, even if you beat them, you should have them in your collection (certainly at $1-$20 price range). If you haven't play them yet, $30 is not a bad price to start.

I wasn't as impressed by Heavenly Sword as some here. It's pretty short, but it's worth a rental. I can't see myself replaying it, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend a purchase. Ratchet & Clank was more enjoyable for me, but unless you're a big R&C fan, I'd again say it's more of a rental than a purchase. R&C fans will get more out of it, and for them it's certainly worth buying. Uncharted was excellent, and it's a game I'd like to purchase once it's $20 or less. I could see playing through that one every now and again, and it's one of the top retail games for the PS3 in my opinion.

Heavenly Sword isn't worth owning. It just isn't a very good game (incredibly repetitive, and while short, still felt too long).
R&C and Uncharted are solid games, good addition to the library.
All my "used" discs from GameFly have been pristine, they charge tax in CA, FL, and PA. $2.95/game shipping charge for non-members, free for members.

They have a free shipping sale right now, even for non members, but it may only be limited to:
Devil May Cry
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Burnout Paradise
Assassin's Creed
Lair
Unreal Tournament III
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2
The Club
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
Heavenly Sword
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Dynasty Warriors 6
Need for Speed: Prostreet
which I think are pretty much all the good titles, anyway.

I had some credit saved up at GameFly and thought I would get a game or two. Turns out my wife balanced the check book and asked why GameFly hadn't showed up the past few months. Turns out they use the credit in your account to pay off your monthly payments. I know it washes out but in my mind I was saying money from my trade-ins for a rainy day.
Might have to still jump on a few of those deals.

I really dig Team Fortress 2, so I'm not sure I "need" another FPS, but we'll see. Btw, R&C is as good as mine, just gotta see if there is anything else worth buying.
Is there any kind of warranty on these disks? Anyone ever get really scratched disks?
*edit*
UT3 and R&C for $52ish shipped (I had to pay tax).....not too shabby! I'm trying to keep my average purchase price $20-$25 for my PS3 games, since I don't much care about getting a game right when it comes out.

As for HAZE.....I thought the demo was a little lackluster. Seemed pretty basic and I didn't like the Nectar gimmick.

It's sounding like the MGS4 gunmetal bundle will start pre-sells on May 19 and will cost $599 for a 40GB unit.
I probably wasn't going to jump on it anyway, but at $600 for a 40GB I'm definitely out.
