Nailed Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Nintendo (again).

What a jerk. He really hates Nintendo. I gave up about a minute in just to send him an scathing email about that review.

Awesome. I haven't played Brawl, but he nails the problem with MP party games.

My review of SSBB's SubSpace Emissary (single player) campaign to some friends:

I think his point is spot on. I played SSBB at a friend's house and found it charming but not worth a purchase. I get 90% as much enjoyment from Small Arms and that's 20% of the price.

Ugh, I hate that unlockable character bullshit too. That recently happened when I wanted to play some Marvel vs. Capcom 2 with my cousin, only forgetting that scores of the cast were locked. I understand the logic behind the developers locking characters to extend playtime, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

... this is where Yahtzee nails it. Unlockables are fine and dandy but then one person has to sit there and play 10 hours to unlock them and by that point your skill level will be so far ahead of friends, the game will no longer be fun in MP for them when you finally have them over to play.

Fortunately there are no save game penalties on the Wii. If you only plan on playing MP and want a level playing field the night you rent it, download a game save that unlocks everything.

Damn, you guys are quick!! SSBB added to the list, and I must say this is one of my fave's so far.
