i see... thanks for the brief explanation, i think you've just answered my question to why earlier developers hate the Cell so much (a part of the hate goes to Sony's lack of developer kits support to smaller developers). Yeah, life is a bitch if you have to do something pretty much all over again. However, as a gamer, we know the PS3 and the X360 are two different platforms, so developers should anticipate something like this...
I don't have CoD4 yet, too busy with games on hand right now, no sense of buying a $40 game (on-sale) when i actually get to play by Dec 2008
(by then i probably can get it $20-$30). I do have CoD3 for the PS3, only played 20 minutes and that's it, i don't even know where the game went (somebody borrow it i guess).

360 had a big 2007 especially when you look at software sales. I agree things look up, but there is no doubt that the PS3 is currently in third and needs to start gaining ground.

I like it. I love that your character actually has feet. Not something you see everyday. Not digging the Turok character though. I much preferred the native American look of the first few games.
*edit - guess I should note I played it on the 360

ARgh, I was SO close to buying a PS3 last night. I made a special trip to best buy, and had my reward certs and triple point coupon in tow. I stood in front of the PS3 section for a good 15 minutes, but couldn't actually pull the trigger.
I think what got me was the GH3/Rock band demos that people were playing. It reminded me of how much I already spent on PS2 guitars that I wouldn't be able to use for GH3 or RB, and that I needed to keep my PS2 around if I wanted to play those at all. It just bummed me out, and spoiled the mood.
And then I saw they are selling Rock Band for PS3 separately, without any instruments. What's the point of that? They aren't selling any instruments separately yet, are they? How are you supposed to even play that?

Rock Band can use the GH guitars so if you already bought GH for PS3 you can buy just the game and save some cash. The RB instruments should be available by themselves in Feb.

Still, I wish there was an easy way to just use my PS2 guitars

There is, you cannot use the GH III guitar for Rock Band on the PS3 (360 only).
Nor can you use the Rock Band guitar on GH III.

Really? I wasn't aware. In that case, disregard my last post. Except for the availability of the instruments...they should be out in Feb.

No complaints though. It is an awesome multimedia hub and worth every penny I spent on it. I couldn't have built a home theater PC this cheap and it definitely wouldn't have had the gaming options.

I still love my PS3. I got the 20GB the week after release and it's been worth every penny for me. I threw a 100GB hard drive in it for $65 bucks and I'm good to go.
I even broke down and replaced my old 1080i RP HDTV this week with a new 1080p LCD so my Blu-Ray movies would look even better.

But more so, I'm curious what games are due out this year to make it a "very strong" year. Rather, are any platform exclusive (other than MGS4)? I've got both systems and primarily use my 360 for multiplatform gaming (controller pref. since most are FPS games at this time).

I guess I was expecting a few more titles... MGS4 is certainly the highlight of the bunch followed by Resistance 2 (Didn't care for #1 but chalk that up to being rushed out for launch, I enjoyed the multiplayer). Already had my fix of GT5 (not huge into the series and Prologue proved to be more than enough). Little Big Planet looks interesting, not sure I'd purchase it, but certainly a rental at the least (or demo download if they have one).
Ah well, it's always the little titles that pop up off the radar and ultimately become my favorite of the year, hope a few sneak out this year. Hopefully Killzone 2 is a big improvement over the original.
Not trying to be down on the system though, after all, aside from Ninja Gaiden II I can't think of much coming out on the 360 this year that I'm looking forward to. (I don't really know much about Infamous, I've heard comparisons to Crackdown though, which is a good thing.)
Can't wait to get through Condemned 2 and DMC4 though, as much as I hate sequels, I love dark atmosphere
.

.... patiently waits for 360 version so I can use the 360 controller.

I feel DMC is more at home on the PS3. Disagree about Burnout though.
I thought Home was just a virtual world?
I'm going to have to agree with that, while the PS3 pad isn't as bad as I thought it'd be for FPS games (I think the reason I had such an issue before was the last FPS game I played was Timesplitters 2 with it's Goldeneye-inspired not-good-for-dual analog control scheme) I still much prefer the 360 pad for FPS.

I would also agree that Burnout will sell a ton more on the 360 (Assassin's Creed by comparison sold 3 times better on the 360), but at least the people that do buy it on PS3 aren't getting an inferior version. That happened way too often in 07.

Valid point. To be fair, the X360 has 3x as many units in homes in the US so the sales comparison makes sense. I'm glad the PS3 is finally getting par releases, though.
