Those are the only ones that I have found Groucho.

I'm 93 stars in! So far the only level in the game that took me about 20 tries to beat was Battlestation's Purple Coins.

Purple Coins on Battlerock took me about three tries to finish . I can't wait to try out Luigi's Purple Coins! :D

spinning plates 11-30-07 01:32 PM

beat the game and now i'm onto collecting the 15 purple coin comet stars.
i'm surprised at how easy bowser was, but the level to get to him was tough.

Deftones 11-30-07 01:35 PM

I got to the Luigi's purple coin level and I think I may just not beat this game with 120 stars. That looks ridiculously insane.

UncleGramps 11-30-07 02:56 PM

I kinda tore through the first 60 stars, but since then I've been playing the game in shorter spurts, picking up a few stars here and there. For me it's a great way to extend my first playthrough, and it's a pretty enjoyable game in bite-sized pieces. It also lets me make more progress in the other games I'm in the middle of, which is good since there's a lot of them.

pinata242 11-30-07 03:27 PM

Just unlocked Luigi. I, for one, think it is incredibly lame to force me through then end of the game twice like that. The purple coin levels should be available before beating the game once.

Other than that very minor complaint, I thought this game was very fun and well worth the wait. I don't know that I'll jump right into Luigi's 120 yet, but at least it's there.

spainlinx0 11-30-07 04:44 PM

I said the same thing pinata, but I couldn't help myself.

Deftones don't be daunted. When I first played the level I sucked. Then as you play it you start to figure out some things. It may take you 20 tries, but it is incredibly satisfying when you beat it.

After playing some of the harder stages then going back and playing a few regular stages, I realized that I had gotten a lot better at the game.

Giantrobo 12-01-07 06:37 AM

I wish I was having as much fun with this game as you guys. I just tried a galaxy with that speed comet. Mind you....I HATE TIMED GAMES/LEVELS...and I was ready to throw my Wii, Wii-mote, and SMG out of my damn window.:grunt:

chess 12-01-07 01:20 PM

Got to 120 this morning. Luigi's Purple Coins = Motherfucker.

Any reviewer that said this game was too easy didn't finish it...period. I actually really appreciate that my son can have finishing the game as a goal...get to 60 stars, finish the game, and feel good about himself. Meanwhile, I can have 120 as a goal and subject myself to some of the most fun/challenging platforming ever devised. It's a great balance...inviting for newcomers and casual gamers...and sometimes just plain evil for more skilled players.

Anyway, the reward for 120 was a bit underwhelming.
Spoiler:
I appreciate Luigi's speed and jumping ability, but his lack of traction makes the game feel like all of those lesser platformers.

Does his game have any different stars, or is it just the same game with a different character? If it's the latter, I'll just stick with Mario.

There are probably 200 coins out there...just keep trying it until you develop a pattern...and start by making a bee-line toward the 1up on the opposite corner of the board.

Hope you are really proficient at the long jump as well.

It probably took me a good 20 attempts or so...and it was my 119th coin since I'd apparently forgotten one of the stars on the green star planet.

CreatureX 12-01-07 02:48 PM

Finished getting 120 stars! As Mario would say..."Waa Hoo"!

What an amazing game. Galaxy easily ranks up there with 'Zelda OoT' and 'Super Metroid', as one of the greatest Nintendo games ever created! :D

I loved every second of the game. Even the insane levels. 'Battlestation's Purple Coins' took me about 20 tries to beat. Both 'Luigi's Purple Coins' and 'Daredevil Comet Fire Spiral', took about 10 tries each. For those of you still on these levels, just keep on trying you can do it! :)

I also like the bonus for collecting all 120 stars. Much better than what you got for collecting everything in Mario64 and Sunshine.

I can't wait to go through it again! :rock2:

I think the insane levels might have been my favorite part. I forgot how crazy Battlestation's Purple Coins was...with the control reversing. Fire Spiral was brutal as well...just because of the length...same with the Purple Coins Level in the desert.

starseed1981 12-02-07 09:15 AM

Just beat it. Man, that huge spiral near the end of the final Bowser level was brutual. All in all a great purchase.

Icon769 12-02-07 08:49 PM

Ok, I just started playing. Some questions:

-Is the point of shooting stars/comets with the wimote, only to do the same amount of damage a mario spin would do?

-Do you get anything extra if you don't shott the commets/stars? Do you get something once you collect a certain number of them?

majorjoe23 12-02-07 09:02 PM

The stars can usually stun something from a distance, but hitting the bad guys with a spin does the same thing, you'll just have to spin twice.

Well I like shooting badguys with the star because I won't get hit. Also you can use shooting stars to feed guys..and hit those little platforms which turn into coins

you get a 1-up at 50 starbits collected.

chess 12-02-07 09:44 PM

I hardly ever use the shooting function unless I'm the second player...not sure why...guess it just never occurs to me.

I'm 50 stars into the bonus game...enemies seem more aggressive, but I could be mistaken.

spainlinx0 12-02-07 11:08 PM

I haven't played since picking up Hotel Dusk, but I was also at the 50 star mark, and didn't notice any extra aggression. Cosmic Luigi is fast though.

It's good for taking out those fire guys from a distance on Melty Molten Galaxy.

RichC2 12-03-07 07:55 AM

I got around to starting the game over the weekend. I'm still very early on (about 14 stars collected) but have to say, I'm impressed. The game is superior in everyway to the generic feeling and vastly overrated Mario 64. From the presentation to the structure (the level advancement feels more akin to Super Mario 3/Super Mario World) to the level designs (far more variety), it all feels like a return to form that has been sorely lacking from the last two 3D ventures.

Well done, Nintendo. And the game provides proof that the Wii does have at least some visual capabilities.

REL77 12-03-07 08:34 AM

Can someone please explain to me when I go into a galaxy, and I see a blank Star place that has a Question mark by it, but then when I fly to the galaxy, I dont see a blank star to select, what that means, and what I need to do?

That's a hidden star. You need to replay one of the previously completely levels in order to find it. That level will be shown with a yellow "?" over it.

So somewhere in that level is a hidden star? Are they hard to find, or anything else I should know? Any clues on what needs to be done to find them?

Groucho 12-03-07 09:01 AM

Some are harder to find than others. The key is to look "off the beaten path". Many of them are found by:
Spoiler:
Paying off a hungry star, who will transform into a new planet.
