I had the same issue with the Ball Rolling stage (I can't remember the name), but, finally just went with the slight motions approach, and breezed through it.

That first (yes, i said FIRST) ray surfing galaxy was pretty hard for me too... i found the key to be never holding A, just tapping it; and, making my turns ahead of time helped too.

Really? I never let go of the A button on the first race.

SuperBatMan 11-14-07 10:04 AM

I'm up to 14 stars now, and this game just keeps getting better and better. My favorite galaxy so far is probably Space Junk Galaxy.

Nintendo needs to sell the OST to this NOW!

I never let go of 'A' either. I died a few times before I nailed it but that's because I stupidly would over-compensate and turn the wiimote too much.

Nintendo RARELY makes OSTs of their games, which is a shame. I' still waiting for Metroid Prime 2.

Well, I'm getting ready to attack the final galaxy in the first observatory. I know... I know... I'm lagging... but hey, I can't play video games 24/7. Besides, if I spent all day playing then I would be done too quickly! Ray surfing took me about 4 tries. The time I passed, I did so with 1:01. I died more on the flipswitch galaxy and the super sweets galaxy than I did on ray surfing.

spainlinx0 11-14-07 10:51 AM

I think I have 17 stars and already defeated the first 2 observatory bosses. Usually I try to get every star on a board before moving on, but I wanted to see what the second boss was. It was a fun battle, and I love the level design.

The stupid part is that I fell off the stupid thing twice AFTER flipping all the switches!

The last section of the super sweets also saw me meet my maker many times (good thing it was after the 1-up) until I remembered the Z-Jump!

Brent L 11-14-07 12:12 PM

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had a time with the flipswitch galaxy.

I don't think I've ever twisted and turned my head while playing any game quite as much as I have been doing while getting used to everything in SMG. :)

spainlinx0 11-14-07 12:47 PM

The Z-Jump makes many of those one-star galaxies much easier. I LOVE the Z-Jump. I really cannot state that enough.

I'm still jealous of you all. My TRU still doesn't have them in and has no more information then they did last night.
What a huge debacle.

Wow. I feel for you Canis. Hopefully you'll get lucky this week.

Agreed it is a huge PITA. I just went to Gamestop and picked it up. When TRU gets it in I'll buy it and return it back to GS. The TRU employee felt really bad as there were a ton of people last night waiting for it.

How come there is a crown next to some of the galaxy names?

Liver&Onions 11-14-07 03:04 PM

Well - I know that I bitched and moaned that this game didn't look like it appealed to me. But all you stupid bastards and your stupid comments of "Wow." or whatever else you may have said made me get this game. Screw you all. Screw you all. Now - to find the time to play it.

Groucho 11-14-07 03:09 PM

Okay, guys. The charade worked. L&O has the game. Now we can give our real opinions.

Yeah, that's right. This game SUCKS.

That would be an awesome move.

That means you 'completed', or got all the stars in that galaxy.

Seriously. And having to do an actual back flip in order to execute the Z jump? Bloody murder. I think my least favorite part so far is that when you use the bee suit, you have to put live bees in your pants. What was Nintendo thinking?

That's what I thought, but it says it said I got all the stars. It's not giving me any more stars to try for. :hscratch:

Without giving anything away, later in the game certain events will happen that "unlock" additional stars within a galaxy.

To be more explicit:
Spoiler:
There's a "Prankster Comet" that travels from galaxy to galaxy. When it's at a specific one and you travel there, you're given a challenge to complete to earn a star. Also, once you find a certain character, he'll also travel to certain galaxies, and you'll need to find him to earn yet another star.

Oh on the TRU thread, apparently Best Buy is pricematching the TRU deal (there is a SKU in the thread.
