Silly question but can one only connect a PC to the 360 with the 360 wireless add on? Why can't it be done through a router that both share? Or can it?

Shouldn't be a probelm, as long as they're on the same subnet. You may run into trouble streaming video over wireless though. I had had some bandwidth probelms over wireless. My PC and 360 are both wired now, and its very smooth.

That's what I mean. I didn't buy the wireless add on for the 360 but my PC and 360 are both WIRED to the same router. So I can connect the 2?


EDIT: I think I figured it out and I guess I can. The 360's "Test Media Connection" had info.

Yeah, wireless has nothing to do with it. Think of it the same way as if 2 computers were connected on a network.

Alright, the step i hadn't done that was causing me problems was i had to go into my 360, choose the computer connection and end it. This then let me set up a new connection, it went out and found the new PC no problem.

I upgraded TVersity, with no luck. I remember before I had to use the old ffdshow filter to get things to work, but at least I could still stream music and pictures. Now I can't even get the computer and 360 to communicate.

Did anyone have to do anything different after the update?

For me that was more like "Wow, my HD-DVD drive can't play this. I better flip it over and see how the movie ends!". I'm not much of an HD-DVD fan, but those dual-format discs seem especially taxing on the play -- for me at least (and it IS better since I swapped out my drive for a newer one).

I've heard of this problem, but thankfully have yet to experience... love my HD-DVDs..

I just got on board with the next gen crowd and bought a 360 today.It has a born on date of 9-16-07 so i dont know if thats good but it came with Forza 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance and they both are great looking games :)

I hope to get on Live sometime soon if i can figure out how to do so ;)

I don't think you can - yet. Maybe in the next update...

You can turn off all notifications, but not specifically friends.

Hit the guide button, go to personal settings then notifications.

Just wanted to say thanks for the info edstein. I set mine to the maximum on black level and that made my standard dvds look on par with my old dvd player and I was no longer getting the "glow screen."

Guess I can dump my old dvd player now and just use one. Yay!

Can't you sign out before viewing dvd's?

Really? I kept getting the "glow screen" regardless of what black-level setting I picked - there were absolutely no changes in the black-levels of 480p material for me.

Yeah, I was surprised too after I read your earlier post. I was crossing my fingers that it would work. I didn't have to shut mine down as it did the change automatically. Maybe change your setting, turn your 360 off, turn it back on and check to see if the setting stayed and then check out a dvd. If that doesn't work, then I don't know what is wrong.

Mine showed an immediate difference though. Not much different on the medium setting but almost completely black on the max setting and was pretty much indistinguishable from my old dvd player (this is thru component cables).

I just noticed that Tony Hawk 3 is now on the backward compatibility list. I tried to play today and it sticks on the old xbox opening logo. I can hear the sound but do not get the picture. Any ideas? I tried Tony Hawk 2X and it works fine.

I have no idea if this applies to TH3 or not, but try changing the resolution to 480p. There is at least one disc (the Namco compliation) which won't run at higher resolutions.

Just a quick question from a new 360 owner and someone who doesnt know this kinda stuff very well.I hooked up my 360 with the component cable that came with it and everything looks great but i see it has the HDMI slot and my tv supports that so i was wondering how much of a difference there is and if its worth is to get the cable i would need for that?
