Far as I know, there is only one black setting and it only effects DVD playback, upconverted or not. Games and HD material are unaffected.

I did not know that. Wow! Of course, you'd have people that cheat like mad with laptops open to imdb or sites that have all of the answers and it wouldn't be any fun. At least if someone was doing that and you were in the room, you could slap them silly!

Blood Diamond - I continue to be underwhelmed by HD-DVD. Just ordered Transformers, The Matrix boxset ($57.50), and Planet Earth ($53), hopefully those will finally blow me away.

I like the way you spend. By the way, I'm lookin' for a Sugar Momma. ;)

No shit.

GatorDeb 10-27-07 01:34 PM

Seriously, though. Grey's Anatomy (HD TV) is so pretty and Blood Diamond and 300 are bleh.

edstein 10-27-07 03:17 PM

Transformers will blow you away. Not the greatest movie but, the picture quality and web enabled content are simply awesome.

Matrix, Planet Earth and Heroes are outstanding.

GatorDeb 10-27-07 03:31 PM

Can you do the web-enabled content from the XBOX HD-DVD drive if the XBOX is connected to the net?

Also got Heroes free with the HD-DVD drive. So much to watch so little time :D

Other than the 10 movies I got coming I think I'm set for now. The only other boxsets I want are LOTR and Alien, maybe Rocky if it includes 6. Final Destination. I'm thinking 1 boxset a month :)

Wick 10-27-07 06:10 PM

I'm playing Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, SEGA Rally REVO and Clive Barker's Jericho, right now.

Here are some quick impressions:

SEGA Rally REVO: It's a nice looking game, but it looks a bit too plastic-y and fake. The gameplay is decent and it's quite fun, but it's not as good as I was hoping it would be. Still, I think it's an above-average racer and the track shaping technology is pretty cool as the ruts you/your competition make really do end up affecting your speed in later laps. Recommended as a rental.

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground - Having been a fan of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series since the first game came out on the Nintendo 64, I figured I'd rent this one to give it a try. I really liked Project 8, so I hoped I'd like this one. Sadly, I find it to be decent, but nowhere near as good as some of the older/better Tony Hawk games (my three favourites are THPS, THPS3 and THPS 4. I hated Underground 2.) Overall, I like some of the new features, but the aggro kick is a pain in the ass to learn and doesn't add too much to the gameplay. Rental only.

Jericho: Despite the mediocre reviews this game has received, I'm actually liking it a lot. I agree with the higher reviews (8.0+) The storyline is very interesting and it really sucks you in and makes you care about the characters your playing as. It's really sick, gory and twisted, and it's a lot of fun. Rent it first.

Yes, the 360 will do the web content.

LOTR : New Line -- No high-def discs yet, likely dual format when/if released
Final Destination : New Line -- see above
Rocky : MGM -- blu-ray only
Alien : Fox -- No Alien discs yet, blu-ray studio.

Thanks for the heads-up about this price at half.com. Bought mine from an in-state seller for $40. Amazing deal for those of us who didn't wait long before buying it from BB.

More reason to get a PS3 when they are :D Those would be the main sets I'd want.

BTW Best Buy messed up and was allowing people to get 2 BOXSETS of any price instead of 2 movies. Lasted for 36 hours. So if you want Heroes, The Matrix boxset, or Planet Earth, now is the time to hit eBay as they all are unloading it. It was dead by opening this morning.

You have a few seconds to answer, no way to cheat off the internet.

I'll still probably get it and just play it alone :D I LOVE movies.

fumanstan 10-27-07 11:44 PM

Didn't see a Mass Effect thread, but apparently Mass Effect got a 9.75 from Game Informer.

Jericho got pretty dismal ratings from EGM.

Rumor: Leaked screens show IPTV and Fall update [update]

Posted Oct 26th 2007 8:00PM by Dustin Burg
Filed under: Rumors

http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.xb...erblahblah.jpg

Update: We just learned that Aaron just got his 360 back from Microsoft repair this week. We also know that his dash version isn't any different than the one that is already out (2.0.5787.0) leading us to believe that his 360 doesn't have the Fall update. But the new options are definitely related to the IPTV service as more options were discovered in his 360's settings. Need proof? Check out the two new screenshots we just added.

If the sweet, juicy, rumor friendly screenshots that we just received via our tipster inbox hold any water, then everyone can look forward to IPTV being part of the Fall update. Though, remember kids, this is all filed under the "rumor" tag ...

The two four screenshots you see in the gallery below were sent to us by tipster Aaron, who says that he turned on his Xbox 360 today and noticed a new TV icon with four text squares in his media blade and was wondering if we knew what it was all about. We investigated and noticed that this new TV icon option wasn't normal and replaced the "Video Marketplace" option that we see on our dash. The second thing we noticed was that, when hovered over, the description for the mysterious TV icon option reads:

Use television services.
Live & recorded TV
On-demand movies
Chat while watching TV

Sounds like IPTV options to us. Once clicked, an error message pops up stating that it was "unable to start" and to contact support at www.microsoft.com/tv. That URL will take you to Microsoft's Mediaroom website ... also interesting. So, if everything is legit in these pictures and Aaron doesn't end up being a Photoshop God, we're going speculate that this random occurrence is related somehow to the Fall update. The square text boxes, error message and overall un-ready status of the dashboard option all smell of a Fall update that isn't yet ready for the masses. Maybe Aaron was online at the right moment when an Xbox Live engineer tripped over a cord sending Fall update goodness to his 360. Who knows. We'll try to get more information about this odd occurrence and ultimately find out if these screens are real and relate to IPTV or the Fall update. Until then, file everything into the rumor section of your brain and give the screenshots a look over.

Thank you. I feel the same way. It's not for everyone, but I say at least rent it because one may end up liking it.

Has there been any changes or updates to TVersity over the last month or so (or any updates that have caused it not to work)? I haven't used it in a while, now I can't get my computer to talk to the 360. Just curious if it is something that I have done, or if there is an update I need to install from Tversity.

Decadance 10-28-07 10:09 AM

TVersity did release an update, but I was using mine up until I decided to update (last week) and following the update. I havent had any issues.

movieking 10-28-07 11:30 AM

Thanks. Just installed the update, and I'll try to get it working again shortly.

After getting a new computer running Vista i can't get my 360 to connect to my computer anymore. I look through WM Player 11 and see i have my library shared with the 360 but something is still off.

Any Vista specific help or tips?

That's weird. It seems to me that getting my Vista Ultimate box to connect was easier than the XP Pro. I'd look at your firewall settings. There's a checkbox in there called "Connect my Xbox 360 or Media Center Extender to my Media Center PC." Make sure that's turned on.

Music 10-28-07 01:01 PM

I believe you have to re-do the media center setup again, because it is a different computer.
