Flay, can you honestly think of any game that doesn't have flaws?
Geez, he's just giving you HIS review of the game. If you want to like it so much, go like it (whether you've played it or not) but don't bust his balls.

Flay's review tempered my expectations for the game, but I'll be the judge if I thought it was an A+ game or not.

Anyways, thanks for the review, Flay.

Yeah. I've had it all weekend and a friend let me borrow Guitar Hero II. A game I never thought I would like, I am now addicted to. Probably played it as much as Bioshock the past few days.

Don't kid yourself. It'll be a well selling game that stays $49 - $59 for a while, but it won't be 2.5 years til its at $29.

KurrptSenate 08-20-07 11:32 AM

I'd say I could get it for 30 in 2 months, tops

Sounds like Flay's copy is for sale. He said he was finished and wouldn't play it again. Send him an offer.

Wow, 14 hours?? I think I'll just use my free rental coupons and rent the game once or twice and beat it. Spending $60 for 14 hours of game play isn't worth it, imo.

Yeah - that $4.29 hourly rate is a bastard!

haha

considering he paid 100 for his, I'm not even going to attempt to "low ball" the man

I've only played the demo (3 times now) and I'd say Flay's review seemed very objective (besides the overall score of the title)

You may be able to get a used copy for $30 in 2 months, but no way will you be able to get a new copy for $30 in 2 months.

It always amuses me when people go into the FPS genre looking for a "long" play time. Most FPS games are 10 hours or under. 14 hours is actually above-average length for this genre.

definitely. thats what I was going for

but honestly, i could probably trade a game for a new copy, but I wasn't planning on "calling in a favor" ;)

Looks like my amazon shipment might come in today...I hope so!

I've been playing every night since Tuesday, and I still have quite a bit of a ways to go. I'd guestimate and say I've put in 15-18 hours already.

considering I JUST got Shadowrun and have played it for 20+, it REALLY isn't a stretch of the imagination :/

I didn't say that there weren't any long FPS games; I just meant that they are very few and far between. Half-life 1 and 2, Far Cry, and Resident Evil 4 are all pretty lengthy too. Yeah I know RE4 is technically a third person game, but it plays like a FPS.

KurrptSenate 08-20-07 12:42 PM

well, the thing is, FPS as a genre relys on multiplayer capabilities to have any sort of staying power.

Considering this title does not, you will see an ass-load of people buying the game, completing it, then selling it only for a fraction of the price. That's where I come in :D

and Ken Levine thanks you for that.

I'm not sure who that is (developer perhaps?) but I really couldn't care less for his opinion on my modus operandi. As stated before, the market for off-line FPS games really rewards the *USED* buyer, like myself

I had more time spent into Gears of War(18 hours) and isn't that an FPS?

Yes. He is the developer for Bioshock. Developers get dick off used purchases. :)

glassdragon 08-20-07 01:29 PM

It will have multiplayer, you realize it will have an editor right? there's a picture in the demo folders on pc that says Bioshock Editor on them. An editor is no good unless there is multiplayer. So i'm fairly certain that once this is all taken care of with the release and such as smooth as possible then we will see some kind of multiplayer in the future.

there's the picture if anyone is wondering

I really hope it did not take you 18 hours to beat the single player campaign...

Are you counting the time spent playing multiplayer online as part of the 18 hours? Typically when a person says that a game takes X amount of hours to complete, they are just talking about the single player portion.

It could just be an editor for users to make custom mods. Mods are pretty common in the PC gaming world.

This is true, but i'm fairly certain they will add multiplayer. Half-life 2 didn't ship with MP either but came like 3 months later in a patch.
