I'd love to do a league, but I have a Wii, so I think that means I'm out...

ONLINE PLAY

Ok, so I've been beating dudes at halftime, and they quit on me. I don't accept the "friendly quit" thing because there's nothing friendly about it. At any rate, after the game, my stats don't indicate a win.

If an online opponent leaves you, and you don't continue the game against the CPU, do you not get a credit for the game?

Why does the CPU punt when it's on your 34 yard line? Why does FG not come up 1st when you are on your opponent's 32?

I'm sorry but this game REALLY sucks. I can't even imagine how anyone could think this game is good. The more I play the more I realize this is the last Madden I'll ever buy.

NCAA '08 is so far a superior game it's absurd.

- No permanent substitutions
- No permanent defensive assignments
- Stupid decisions by CPU (punts etc.)
- Audible overlays are poorly placed (I can't see my SS on DEF - ridiculous)
- Too many player "types" (brick wall this, finesse that, truck this - stop it)
- Not enough uniform options (why include some but not all alternates?)
- Still no more Owner Mode - the Team Finances menu is cheap and unnecassary
- The stadium announcer might be the silliest thing in the whole game
- Every kicker seems to put it 9 yards deep into the end zone on kickoffs

I don't mean to threadcrap but I'm just really disappointed in this game. I've been anticipating it's release since last year's sucky Madden and I've been let down again.

That's what happens when there's no competition.

I second this. Whatever happened to setting the prices of your tickets and hot dogs? I heard over and over how this was "in the game"... but I haven't seen it.

If it's not too late, I'd like to join the league. I guess I'll be the Bengals, seeing as how someone stole my Seahawks.

You want to talk about poor decisions. I have been playing superstar mode because I didn't want to start a franchise until I was done with ncaa. I got drafted by the bears after losing 3 in a row they won 2, then against the vikings they blow a 4th quarter lead and in overtime after stopping them I drive down the field (I;m a halfback) and get them to the 12 yard line so what does the cpu do on first down the try the field goal and miss (the second fg gould had missed and he missed two extra points) then the vikes go 88 yards for the score. I wholeheartedly agree ncaa is better and more fun. But I don't hate madden so far just like it less.

Anyone know what "scouting" actually does?

I have no experience on this, but another board I was on was using leaguedaddy.com to manage the league games. Maybe this would be easier than having a forum member create schedules, update scores, etc?

I'll echo the people that don't like the stadium announcer. I hadn't played a Madden since the PS1 days and couldn't believe they passed on getting a real announcing crew. Also, I'm not sure why they made such a big deal out of getting the ESPN license if they don't do anything in-game with it (presentation, better highlight shows, breakdowns, etc).

On the plus side, I love that you can get the Sportscenter radio updated streamed automatically instead of music . Really cool. Next year I hope they let you add more ESPN radio/podcast programming to the "automatically streamed" playlist, rather than having to click into the news to get it. I like the music, but sometimes it gets really old. Having all news all the time for audio in the menus would rock.

I find the game to be a boatload of fun - something I couldn't say for the last two years' versions. That said, Madden has regressed since 1991. Remember back in the day when they would show you highlights of other teams games? You'd think in 2007 with an ESPN license that would be a no-brainer.

I enjoy the game, but there are a LOT of little issues. IR still does not work right. Give us a Practice Squad. I want to see a more ROBUST franchise mode. Highlights from other games would be cool also, totally forgot about that.

I have yet to start my franchise this year, waiting for opening day rosters and Vick out of the game.

Vick's essentially out of the game with the downloadable rosters...he's on the Falcons roster, but not on the depth chart.

Hell, Super Tecmo had more highlights.

Apparently the last gen versions have the announcers, but that might be because they're basically rehashes of last year's game.

Is the presentation, at least, improved over NCAA? I like the actual football in NCAA this year, but the sidelines and overall presentation are pitiful.

The thing I'm most disappointed with is the difference between all-pro and all-madden difficulties. I win by 30-40 points pretty consistently on all-pro. With the SAME TEAMS I beat the cpu team by 56 points in the first game on all-pro and hold their offense to under 100 yards. Jacked up to all-madden, Marion Barber runs for 320 yards, breaks over 20 tackles, and I lose by 42.

yep. I still have a Gamecube, and the '08 version DOES have Madden/Michaels commentary, but its pretty much a rehash of last years stuff.

Anybody else have a problem where your right stick somehow gets "stuck" in the menus on the 360 version? It happens to me once in a while, I've tried different controllers when it happens and it keeps acting "stuck" whether a controller is connected or not. Probably just more pathetic engineering on EA's part...

Finally picked up Madden last weekend at Costco since it's a bit cheaper at $53.99.

Enjoying it so far... the last version I bought was 06 for PC. Dissapointed that there aren't any announcers... makes it feel so empty/quiet while playing.

Love the new animations, especially during tackling. Looks freakin amazing and realistic. A little annoyed that tackling running backs seem so difficult, as my guys always seem to just bounce off the RB.

I do wish the presentation was better during the game. I wish there were more stats shown during the game, variations in replays, and things like that but isn't a huge deal.
