Galaxy, Brawl, Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center are turning Fall into a glorious time to have a Wii.

Of course, it's probably going to suck.

No worries. If something had, you'd be knee deep in delicious candy and fun toys. I was just worried I had missed an announcement somewhere.

My apologies if I offended any Halo (etc.) fans earlier. It was certainly an unfair characterization based on my limited time on Live...in which I ran into a far higher than expected ratio of douches and knuckleheads. The technology is terrific, but it's hard to overcome the fact that most people suck.
My comment was based on the Baron's observation about the Wii having "nothing great to play" combined with some frustration from listening to gaming podcasts this weekend. All I've heard on my MP3 player is how Nintendo has "abandoned hardcore gamers" and how great Halo, Orange Box and Bioshock are. I consider myself a hardcore gamer, and I couldn't care less about the latest FPS or high-def graphics. Bioshock looks great and appears to have a terrific narrative, but I don't see the innovation. Halo 3 looks and controls just like Halo 2 as best I can tell, so the excitement there is lost on me as well.
We are in a period of innovation with the DS and Wii, and so few people in the gaming press or the "hardcore gamer" crowd seem to get it or appreciate it. It's just disappointing to hear disparaging remarks about Wii Games...especially when I think the control innovations in Twilight Princess, MP3 and especially RE4 have truly introduced a previously unimaginable level of immersion to the gaming experience.
Games I'm looking forward to:
Super Mario Galaxy (Mario, Zelda and Metroid...first year...hell yeah!)
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (Will wait for price drop, but sound like fun in co-op)
Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 (Yeah, a FPS...but with Prime-like controls)
Mario Kart Wii (as much as I like Excite Truck...I need some multiplayer)
Guitar Hero 3 (have a PS2, but never did the Guitar Hero thing)

Sonic is great a great addition to brawl. I wonder if we'll get some more sonic characters. I wouldn't be surprised if one of characters that is close body match is in the game also, like Shadow, Knuckles or that robot sonic guy.

Saw and downloaded a new update this morning - to bring the Wii Menu screen to version 1.3. The only thing mentioned was the ability to use a USB keyboard on the menu. There was also an update to the Everybody Votes Channel, but I can't say I noticed any changes there, so perhaps it was all keyboard-related.

There are also some changes to the Internet browser. You can send people links, and cut and paste text.
Also, Nintendo has announced that a DS demo download service will (finally) be coming to the Wii. Huzzah. No date on that.
