Yeah I'm sorry to hear of you troubles too. I was playing this morning and noticing that screens on Resident Evil and Metroid were taking longer to load as if they were stuck then they would suddenly load. This was happening while the disc drive was making weird noises. This is in addition to the Disc Errors and console freeze ups that I had a few weeks ago.
I have a sick feeling that my Wii is gonna give me problems sometime in the near future and that would mean both my NexGen consoles are shit in terms of workmanship.

BTW, what's "Squaretrade"? I have an ex-warr through Sears.

SquareTrade.com started offering warranties for eBay purchases and then extended for everything. It's 10% of purchase price - 3 years for new, 2 years for used. Some items give you an additional option for accidental damage for an additional fee. Right now (and it may expire at any time) you can get a warranty for ANY item purchased in any store in 2007.

Oh ok, thanks GatorDeb.
Also, I went ahead and took my Wii off the base, put it horizontal, and played RE4 so for now the noises and slow laoding weirdness seem to be gone away but we'll see. I guess this Gen's Engineers need to re-think Vertical Console gaming.

So I bit the bullet and got Wii Play, Carnival Games, and Mario Party 8 for $107 after tax. Sister's going to give me $36 for my niece's Wiimote (saves about $7 for the $39.99 price after tax) so that leaves me with Carnival Games, Mario Party, and Wii Play for $71. I can live with that. And I got the extra remote
Mom loves Ping Pong so we're going to have a go at it today (got the game late yesterday).
Went to gamefaqs.com and downloaded saves for Mario Party 8 and Carnival Games. MP8 is all completed, but CG is mostly completed. If anyone completed that game could you email it to me at [email protected] and post here that you did? You can copy saves by sticking an SD card into the Wii, then from the Wii menu go to Wii settings, then saves, then select your save, then copy, then to the sd card, then just stick the sd card back in the computer and email. I'd GREATLY appreciate it, I like the games but I suck at them. I'm sooo bad at throw the football through the moving hoop it's not even funny.
I'm totally addicted to neon hockey and ping pong, like I knew I would be. The games I got are going to be even better once my niece comes over and plays (tomorrow).

So either you have a bad Wii or a bad game. If it's a bad Wii -- there's a 1 year warranty, so I'd call Nintendo to have it repaired/replaced.

The only freeze up I've ever had was in the Internet channel when I was looking at something resource intensive -- and that hasn't happened since the browser upgrade.

So I ended with the following for $210 after taxes:
* 4000 Wii points (800 of those will be gone in 10 minutes... Opera, here I come... too bad I missed out on the free download
).
* Wii Play
* Carnival Games
* Mario Party 8
* Wario Ware Smooth Moves
* Big Brain Academy
* Mario Strikers
(and an extra controller... it's really my niece's (my sister paid for it) but since she doesn't have a Wii it stays at my house and I can play with other people whenever she's not here... she's probably here about 1-2 hours a week).
I'm going to return Mario Strikers (unopened) within the next 45 days for another game. I got everything I wanted that has already been released and I know I'm going to hate Mario Strikers (too much skill-based).
There's only 2 things that really interest me of what has been announced so far (that I've heard about or read about in video game magazines): the stadium game (does anyone know the name?) and Rayman Raving Rabbids 2.
I really like mini-game compilations (could you tell?
). My 2 most-played games are:
* Neon Hockey (air hockey)
* Ping Pong
Other favorites are Tennis, Bowling, the shooting game, and the cow racing game. Just on those I can spend hours.

I don't think this new press release about the Wii Zapper and the Zelda pack-in has been posted yet:
Source: http://kotaku.com/gaming/peripherals...box-302575.php
Link returns from The Legend of Zelda®: Twilight Princess to pick up the Wii Zapper and take aim at a host of targets in this shooting-gallery-style game.
* Anyone can pick up the Wii Zapper and become a master marksman in the quick-play shooting galleries of Link's Crossbow Training. Dozens of fast-paced stages offer a wide variety of game play, from shooting stationary targets to defending a supply wagon from onrushing hordes of enemies. Multiplayer modes let players and their friends share a Wii Zapper to shoot for the high score.
* Link's Crossbow Training comes bundled with the Wii Zapper. After a few rounds of Link's Crossbow Training, players will be more than ready to pick up any of the future Wii Zapper titles, like Medal of Honor Heroes™ 2, Ghost Squad™ and Resident Evil®: The Umbrella Chronicles.
Using the Wii Zapper: The Wii Zapper requires the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, housing both in a comfortable and intuitive frame. The control stick on the Nunchuk controls player movement (on stages that allow player movement), while simply aiming the Wii Zapper moves the targeting reticule on the screen. Pulling the trigger fires Link's crossbow. By aiming off screen, players can turn Link to face in a new direction (again, on stages that allow this).
Link's Crossbow Training contains three basic game styles: target shooting, defender and ranger. There are 27 stages in total, and these categories represent only generally how each individual stage operates. Each stage's goal is to earn the highest score possible within the time limit. All rounds can be played with multiple players: Players pass the Wii Zapper around and then play one at a time and compete for the high score.
Target Shooting: In target-shooting rounds, players shoot bull's-eyes as they pop up on the screen. In early stages, targets are stationary. As the game difficulty increases in later levels, the targets move. Hitting the center of the bull's-eye nets more points, and hitting targets in succession without missing earns combo multipliers. Link can aim anywhere on the screen.
Defender: In defender rounds, players remain stationary but can look and aim in all directions - sometimes even in a full 360 degrees - by aiming off screen. Hordes of enemies assault Link, and he must fight them off. These battles have a great deal of variety, from fighting off skeletons in a desert to defending a wagon from boar-riding Bokoblins.
Ranger: In ranger rounds, players can move throughout the level using the control stick and aim anywhere they want by aiming the Wii Zapper wherever they want to look. In these missions, Link storms enemy encampments, fights his way through a forest and seeks out his foes while exploring the environments.

Question: I got the new Wii Set up but it doesn't recognize neither of the two Wiimotes... it's on the first setup screen asking me to press A, but neither of the Wiimotes work. How do you add a Wiimote to the Wii?
Also how do you add a second remote to Mario Party 8? Tried to do it yesterday without avail. And the manual wasn't any help.

Deb...it may sound crazy, but take a look at last year's Madden.
The minigames in Madden 07 for Wii were my favorite part of that game, and since 08 is out, you should be able to get it dirt cheap. Unless you just hate football.
Also, there are several other minigame collections coming out, like Wii Fit, the Playground game from EA, and a few others...I saw something yesterday with badmitton and archery...

(except for Wii Sports, which doesn't count
). The football throw in Wii Carnival is my most hated game of all.WiiFit shall be mine on release day, but I don't count that as a game... that way when I buy it, it will be for my *cough*health*cough*

What's the name of the playground game? Any other minigame games you know of? Can't get enough of them

I've played enough by now to know that I will never like Mario games (I watch walkthroughs of the entire games on YouTube for the enjoyment) or Zelda games (ditto). I'm not interested in playing for 2 hours to beat a boss. I want to sit down and have fun, and there are games that do that for me

The other one I was trying to remember was called Deca Games (I think).

Yay I finally discovered on Nintendo.com The Secret Of The Wiimote Sync Button
I had an inkling that my remote was missing the old Wii a bit much. Right now it's updating the firmware (which takes a looooong time) so I'm chilling while it finishes. And I think the Wiimote Sync button is the secret to Mario Party 8 also.
I'll probably pick up EA Playground but I'm not sure on Deca Games - seems too much skill based. I want simplicity

BTW I was sure Opera was 800 points, but I went to get it now and it was 500 points, so if it's 800 points regularly it might be a promotion. Just a heads up if anyone wanted to buy it
