I'm not so sure about that. I think we continue to document in the Wii and VC threads how great we all were at games like Kid Icarus and the like when we were kids but now we suck at or it takes forever to pass levels. I think over the years our skills have eroded probably because games as a whole have become easier to appease us.

Cool. I can take the PS2 version off my "to buy" list.

shumway 10-18-07 11:36 AM

Same here. I was definitely interested in picking it up at some point.

Overall though it is a lot of fun to play as a family game and I like all the unlockable junk. We also compete pretty hard for the high scores on the super games.

I also picked up RE4 for the Wii, but don't know when I will be up for replaying RE4. Feels good to actually buy a comple of Wii games after all these months. Can't wait for Guitar Hero III.

I nearly bought Power Pros, but MLB07 for PS3 was the same price and it won out.

Got this for my birthday... and on a once through it was enjoyable. My wife slaughtered me on that electric wire game though. We liked the shooting gallery game quite a bit.

I knew there was a reason I never played the PS2 version. :D2:

Okami is a game that is tailor-made for the Wii. If Capcom does as good a job porting this over as they did for Resident Evil 4, it'll be a must have for 2008.

I rented it and liked it a lot. Didn't play very far in it though. Will definately pick up the Wii version

msdmoney 10-18-07 02:50 PM

Great news on Okami, I kept meaning to pick it up for the PS2, but was waiting for a price drop. Then it started to become harder to find and the Wii rumors started. Glad I waited, I've been wanting to play this.

Ravenous 10-18-07 02:54 PM

Got my Wii last night!! Its set up and I have our Miis made.

Now I have to get it online and make friends who own one. I only know 2 chicks (in real life) who also own a wii... no one else!

Anyone know how long the Toys r us thing lasts? I want to get that Wii play or whatever cause i need another controller and I want Battalion wars 2! Any suggestions on the free game? I want something 2 player or co op.

shumway 10-18-07 03:21 PM

I think the sale runs through the 20th.

Maybe the PS2 version will drop in price now :).

Doubt it. Are they even producing the PS2 version any more?

Still, begs the question...budget title with RE4 price?

spainlinx0 10-18-07 09:31 PM

Definitely plan on picking that up. Budget title price would be great.

I mean the ebay prices. I guess some wii owners might be dumping their copies now. I don't live in the US, otherwise I'd probably have cheap copy by now.

tanman 10-18-07 11:17 PM

Can't wait to play Okami! Love that RE4 came out on the Wii but didn't pick it up because I already have the GC version. Will definately pick up okami esp if it is budget priced. That is the way to do it. If you are going to release a 2 year old game then pick the right ones and budget price them.

Krayzie 10-19-07 07:31 AM

I was finally able to rent a copy of Carnival Games. I was thinking the football toss would be horrible but it was actually pretty easy. The one event that I can't stand is the one where you need to shoot the star and get 100%.... I can't get pass 93%!

PixyJunket 10-19-07 10:16 AM

As revealed yesterday, Capcom officially announced a port of Okami for the Wii at its Gamers Day event in London this week. However, what didn't leak ahead of the embargo is that Ready at Dawn, developer of Daxter and the forthcoming God of War: Chains of Olympus for PSP, is behind the Wii port. No footage of the Wii version was shown at the event, nor did Capcom discuss hard details on how the game will utilize the Wii Remote (aside from "physical movements" for attacks and using the pointer for the Celestial Brush).

Following the announcement, Christian Svensson, senior director of research and strategic planning at Capcom, related to us the story of how the noted American developer landed the gig of bringing last year's strikingly beautiful PlayStation 2 action RPG to the Wii. Earlier this year, Capcom had been seeking a developer to bring Okami to the Wii to reach a wider audience, as the PS2 release suffered from shipping amidst the flurry of next-generation consoles. During a chance encounter at the Game Developers Conference in March, the higher-ups at Ready at Dawn expressed their admiration of the title to Svensson, prompting an offer from Capcom within a week.

Whether Okami for Wii will feature additional or expanded content is undecided at this point. Svensson says that Ready at Dawn has been working on the port with little assistance from the original development team, and as such, transferring the original content within a reasonable timeframe takes precedence. However, should Ready at Dawn complete its primary work ahead of the game's expected release in the first half of 2008, it's entirely possible that we'll see a more robust version of Amaterasu's adventure on the Wii.

Even if you already have the GC version of RE4, the Wii edition is well worth the price of admission. The controls add so much, and the extra content is very cool.

Agreed about the pricing scheme for last gen games. $30 seems like a pretty good spot to me...hopefully Okami will follow suit along with Rygar, which I never played on PS2.

I really need try Power Pros to see if I would like it. I know its reputation is excellent and so were the reviews.

Need a little help

I just got my wii hooked up on line and tried to install the update and its going VERY slow. So I left it, when I came bacl it was 20% done than I checked later and hadnt moved! So I re did it and left it, when I came back there was an error and to try again later! Any ideas on how to change the speed or what the problem is?

Sometimes I get error messages when trying to update my Wii and when I do, I unplug my router for a few moments and plug it back in. After that things work great.

Yes. I wanted this in the first place, but got MLB as my last option. Went back yesterday to check since I hadn't opened MLB and there it was so I exchanged it.

Sonny Corinthos 10-20-07 11:40 AM

I got my two free Wii jackets in the mail today!

On your router make sure your wireless is set to channel 1 or 11. Many people had problems with updates/downloads and changing the broadcast channel on the router fixes many of the problems.

Definitely true as some of the other channels are on the same frequency as Bluetooth that the WiiMote uses to pass info to the Wii.

I wasn't real pumped about Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, but the videos I watched at IGN really changed my mind. Really cool events here: triple jump, long jump, 4x100 meter relay, 4x400 meter relay, archery, swimming, gymnastics, fencing, high jump, pole vault, rowing, table tennis, hurdles.

I'm hoping it controls similar to Wii Sports (i.e., easy and fluid).

I think they bumped the release date up to 11/6. I'll be there; who's with me?

I actually don't see why this is coming out so soon. I guess with Smash Bros being delayed nintendo wants at least two major holiday releases but aren't the olympics going to start in the middle of the summer? Why release an olympics tie in game 6 months in advance?

Interview with Rygar Developer Keisuke Kikuchi on Joystiq

Couple of highlights:
  • doesn't appear to be a straight port of the PS2 game
  • targeted for the hardcore gamer
  • subtitled Muscle Impact in Japan
  • Gladiator mode where he wants NO GAMER sitting down to play. "I intend everyone to be standing up, swinging their arms, building their muscles"
  • force and strength of swing will impact gameplay
  • still hoping for a release late this year, but probably not likely

PixyJunket 10-23-07 09:56 AM

Awesome. I'm there. I'll stand up to play it.

Thanks for the tip, tried it and I got my update!!

Whats Rygar? I have never heard of this game. Whats it like, style? Saw some screen caps and it look pretty cool. It its action at least like Zelda, Im in. But if its flat out RPG, blech!

Okay, whos getting BWii in the next week? I plan on picking up a copy and the only 2 people I know with a wii dont play these type of games (theyre chicks), so I'll need some friends to play with cause I wanna go online!

Giantrobo 10-23-07 10:19 PM

How does one know if his Miis have made it to other consoles?

It's an action game that dates back to the NES. The disk armor is Rygar's weapon. Think of a Castlevania whip with a shield attached to the end of it.

Wow, that armor looks so uncomfortable. I hope he used Gold Bond powder underneath that thing or he's gonna chaff...

It was actually an arcade game before making it to the NES. (The Lynx version was cool btw.)
