I don't hold anything against Wii owners. I just hope it doesn't dissuade third party developers from entering or staying in the Wii market. Competition is good.

Even Nintendo goes out of their way to sell this system as one for casual gamers. Third parties are not going to do well with the more hardcore type games. EA did try to dress this version up as a game for casuals and it will end up selling a couple hundred thousand copies. That is probably all EA expected.

Where EA had to be crushed was the failure of Boogie. It reviewed and sold poorly and that was one game they probably expected to sell well.

Bravo for gamers not buying crap. What developers will hopefully learn is they have to put effort into the games they bring to the Wii. That will benefit everyone. No one will abandon the Wii with the number of units it is selling.

I would have bought Madden 08 if EA actually spent some time improving the graphics over last years game.

I don't understand your statement? Graphic will never be a strong point for the Wii. It is what it is.

The Wii graphics were the least of Nintendo's interest. IMHO

The graphics aren't going to be 360/PS3 quality but that DOES NOT excuse them for being as poor as they have been. Again, we're mostly just suffering through shoddy, rushed, cash-in products because publishers were caught off guard by the system's sales success and want a desperate bite of the apple. The system is supposed to have twice the power of the GameCube; the Wii version of Madden 08 should NOT look like the PS2 version of Madden 05.

Apollo 08-24-07 04:11 PM

I don't think it has twice the power of the cube. It look pretty much like last gen graphic which isn't bad.

Madden for the Wii looks like a cube game to me and I saw hooked up with comp. cables. I just don't think it's fair to beat up developers, when the system designer were not focusing on graphic.

Of course the Wii will never come close to Xbox360 graphics, but EA could have done much better with the graphics for Madden 08 Wii.

Also looking at Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros. Brawl, you can see that Wii is more powerful than the Gamecube.

Groucho 08-24-07 04:34 PM

We're still at the point where many Wii games are last-gen ports or games that were switched to Wii at the last minute. Beginning with Metroid Prime 3 we'll see games that are build from the ground up to harness the power of the console.

Totally agree. We are not asking for these games to look the same as the 360, but they should at least look as good as the regular Xbox version. I think publishers are figuring that out slowly.

You're confusing the hardware with the games. The games made so far are last-gen (at best), the hardware is capable of better.

Chris_D 08-24-07 06:54 PM

I think twice the power is a gross overestimation made early on by people hoping for better. Of course Nintendo did nothing to discourage this. What you have is basically a cube with an extra peripheral. Nothing more.

Michael Corvin 08-24-07 07:46 PM

I have to agree with slop. I think the power is there, just no one is utilizing it yet.

Even developers have come out and said it is at least as powerful as the OG Xbox if not more. I'm wondering about Manhunt 2. That is supposed to be optimized for the Wii version.

That game looks beautiful.

Seems too gimmicky, like, "let's see all the crazy things we can use the wii-mote for"...
But who knows.

But who knows.

1) Early impressions from people at E3, GDC, and Comic Con are VERY positive.

2) Isn't that the point of the Wii-mote? It's why I bought a Wii.

Wii slot started glowing blue. Wii mail listed a new update to prevent locking up while using internet connection and LAN issues. I got error message that current software is up to date. :( Nintendo must of jumped the gun on sending out messages of pending update.

My Wii list Ver. 3.0U has the current system software.

Groucho 08-26-07 06:56 AM

That's actually an old update, from last week.
