Yeah that's not unheard of. SterlingBen I'm NOT implying this is what you were doing but, it's well known that some establishments in Japan's "Red Light Districts" have "Japanese Only" on their doors. Another dvdtalker who's Asian(Korean) was talking about this during a trip to Japan with Japanese friends over in another forum.

So, who all is playing through Super Metroid? This is my first time, and I'm loving it. It's fun being able to get the items in just about any order you want, and being able to explore all over the place. I love the stackable beams(thank you Retro for putting it in MP3), and I like being able to turn off certain beams and items.

Give Zero Mission a try if you have a GBA or DS. It takes the concept of finding/using items in any order to an insane level. The game is actually built in that you can skip almost every single major upgrade. If I recall, I think you just need the maru mari, bombs, one missile pack and the three "unknown" upgrades.

I've played it before, by other means, since at that time I wasn't sure if I would like it so I tried it out, and before I knew it, I had played it so much that I ended up beating up.

I need to replay it again though because that was awhile ago, and it would be fun to play through once more. Now if I could just find Metroid 2 and I would have all the series.

I kinda wish they would remake the second one for the original gameboy. The screen format for that game was so bad

I know a lot of the nintendo fans state that 3rd party games are few and between, but when a mover like madden comes out they really got to support it to get more 3rd games.

Third parties need to make their product actually worth buying first.

Remember that probably 50% of the Wii's market does not usually play games. They are unlikely to buy Madden for the system.

It's self perpetuating. Maybe it was started by the N64 cartridge decision, but the average Nintendo fan these days is not the one who's interested in games like Need for Speed or Madden, regardless of how they review. The 3rd parties will probably have more success if they develop games targeted at the non traditional gamers who are buying the wii, eg. stuff like the crossword ds game, or brain training.

Supporting third party games doesn't mean you buy every title, even though you have no interest in it.

Maybe all the Wii owners heard about how shitty Madden 08 for Wii is. I wish I would've waited to buy until I read reviews.

i played madden 07 and got rid of it shortly after. considering that, I will never play Madden 08

Buying a terrible game under a pretense like "this is how you get other, 3rd party games to get released" seems like a ridiculous notion I will have no part of, regardless of its validity

Seriously, aren't most Madden buyers going to have a 360 anyway due to the last generation? Madden buyers went Xbox/PS2 back then and are likely on the 360 now.

I'd say most Madden buyers still have PS2s, to be honest.

Probably. Either way, the Wii isn't the format of choice and I'm not surprised the sales are lack-luster. I bet they beat the crap out of GameCube sales from 03 or 04.

This might be true since the PS2 came in 2nd with 546,403.

I wasn't saying buy any old crap to support WII 3rd party games but seeing that Madden 08 didn't really review that bad it would sell at least 100K.

880k for Xbox360!?? Unbelievable! That makes Wii look like shit, I guess. I hope the Wii version numbers don't grow...it'll just be more disappointed people.

Considering the installed base (using the above Americas console numbers):
Xbox360 (6.75M): 13.17% attach
PS3 (1.87M): 10.91% attach
Wii (4.24M): 1.35% -

So a PS3 owner is less likely to buy Madden than a 360 owner, but not by much. Given the "lack of games" on the PS3, this either means that they're buying them on the 360, not interested in Madden, or not interested in PS3 games (Blu-Ray owners).

Even worse for the PS3 when you convert it to copies/fps:
Xbox360: 14,818 copies per fps (60)
PS3: 6801 copies per fps (30)

Does fps = frames per second?

How does it make the Wii look like shit? The sales of Escape from Bug Island make the Wii look like shit if it sold anything more than zero copies.

The Wii is not a system where Madden (especially a watered down version of it) will sell well. I don't hold this one against Wii owners.
