PvP Comes to the XBOX 360 Our big announcement at San Diego this year has been something I’ve been dying to tell you guys. It’s been in the works for a while now but we can finally spill the beans: PvP will be coming to your XBOX via the XBOX LIVE MARKETPLACE. In a couple of months, you’ll be able to spend your Microsoft points on PvP gamer tag avatars, blades and backgrounds. More importantly, you’ll be able to purchase and download episodes of PvP: The Series to watch on your HDTV. I want to personally thank Kris and the guys at Blind Ferret (Randy, Ryan and all our animators) for putting everything into this series. The fact that XBOX saw it and wanted it means we’re doing something right and all of our hard work and risk is paying off. And the biggest thanks is to you guys who have subscribed and supported this series. It was AMAZING yesterday to sit in a room of 300 people and watch YOU watch the episodes. We never get to SEE you react to our work. It was a thrill for us. So sit tight. Soon your Guitar Hero stats can have a picture of Skull next to it. Personally, I can’t wait to get my DAD on the FREAKING XBOX!!!! |

I used to read the comic but didn't even know there was a "show" of some sort. Is it machinima? Standard animation?
Personally though, i'm a Penny Arcade guy. edit: ok, it looks to be standard animation and you have to subscribe monthly or yearly to watch the thing... i mean the hell - no thanks. |
Got Viva Pinata in the mail today - that was quick. Anyone want it?
edit: Actually - once I get my 360 back I'll pony this baby up as a prize for a tournament of some sort...Bomberman, Catan, Texas Hold em. hmmm...I'll have to sleep on this one. Anyone interested in doing that? |

PvP is an online comic that is about video games, role-playing, comic books etc. It is pretty funny but i still prefer Penny Arcade for video game humor and Order of the Stick for role-playing humor.

Yeah, I've got VP already - love it. Need to get back into it I think. Maybe i'll start a new garden in the fall.

I do need to get the last Penny Arcade book that has been released as well as i kind of want to buy the Broken Saints DVD. Paying to watch the stuff online though bugs me. |

Another CAGer says that the TRU ad for the week of 8/12 shows the price drop also. No scan yet.
This guy received a ton of conflicting info from various annoyed Walmart managers/employees. The Walmart email help line told him that the price drop will be $250 Core, $350 Premium, $400 Elite. But with all of his conflicting info, who knows. |
Once the price drop happens and 65ns elites are confirmed; I'll upgrade, port my HD over, and return my 360 to Costco.

I was really hoping for a $199 core, I would have put that one in my bedroom so I wouldn't have to disconnect from the theater room if I wanted to play upstairs.

Based on that post, the Core wouldn't see a price drop? That's a little odd, I would think they'd drop that one as well, either to move them off the shelves or to get more of the impulse purchase of people who don't plan to go online. Unless they don't really care if people buy the Core, and they want people to upgrade "it's only 50/100 bucks more" to the Premium or Elite. |

anyone have any luck with the CC $20 off sale? The website doesn't give the discount on the 19.99 point cards (only on the $50 cards), and the stores in my area have none on the shelf.
edit: the CC employee was worng, they are eligible, just no one has them in stock |
you could always pick up the headsets for 19.99 now and exchange them later.

I originally posted this in the circuit city topic in bargains: I was at my circuit city 1 minute after the store opened and someone had already snatched up the two 1600 points cards they had in-stock. The manager would only special order 4 (company policy according to him, was to special order only 5 items at a time). It took them about 30 minutes to figure out how to do the order. Afterwards I went to best buy and they had a whole peg-full of them, I'm not trying to be too greedy, so I got them to price-match 4 of them. It was my first time price-matching at best buy and it took them all of 3 minutes to figure out how to price-match an ad that wasn't even theirs. |

Is downloadable content now exclusive to your gamertag? I ask because I would download extra cars for Test Drive Unlimited and my brother would also be able to use them, same console. But now he can't even play his game anymore because a message pops up stating something like "Downloadable content no longer available, do you want to go to the Marketplace" I assume that the game no longer lets him play because he now has to pay for these cars that I had already bought. MAJOR BULLSHIT!!

As far as i know DLC had always been locked to a particular gamertag - not just open to every tag on a particular console.

this sucks. every CC around here has no 1600 point cards and they wouldn't substitute anything for a bit of a discount like others are reporting. plus to make matters worse, I tried to PM at BB but they said they had to call first to confirm the items were in fact in stock which of course they weren't so I'm without and cheap points. :(
anyone want to help a poor guy out with some points? I can paypal some extra $ for your effort it possible. |
