See I wondered about that, but I had heard that didn't work from people that had their console switched, in fact they spoke about it on the most recent 1up podcast. But I just checked xbox.com and apparently you can do this. Link to Xbox.com I'll test it out once Live is back to letting people d/l stuff again.

Well hell, I hadn't even considered that. We have two gold accounts, one for myself and one for my wife, but everything we've ever purchased off the marketplace has been under mine.

Well, surprise, fucking surprise it doesn't work.

And now I'm fucking _furious_ at the fact that my wife can't use ANY of the DLC on our machine on her account because it was all downloaded under my name. If I didn't have so much money sunk into this pos machine already, I'd just kick it to the gd curb.

Did you delete the content off your hard drive before redownloading it? If you didn't, then it doesn't actually redownload the game. I believe this step is left off of their page.

Did you try deleting and redownloading one of the items to see if that fixes the issue?

Yeah I did, didn't help. Called support, and they pretty much acknowledged that the method described in the link on xbox.com is hit or miss. Supposedly in 15-30 days it'll be fixed but I'm not going to hold my breath.

That method only works if MS has transferred your DLC license over to your refurb's
info prior to shipping it back to you (or after you call and have them do so). They'll tell
you it's hit or miss as doing otherwise draws attention to their incompetence. ie; that
every refurb shipped should have this info transferred prior to shipping it back to the
customer.

Yeah, I was trying to be nice and avoided asking the woman I spoke to if it had ever hit, for anybody.

In any case Brooklyn, someone on another forum gave me a temporary solution to my wife's problem that is straight out of the "why didn't I think of that" file and might help your wife access her games on her account. You'll need 2 controllers and still have to be on Live, but hopefully she should be able to start playing again.

First log your wife onto her account on the controller she'll be using, then on the second controller log onto the account that had previously purchased the DLC. You'll still have to be connected to Live, but that should trick the Xbox into thinking the purchaser account is using the content and will allow your wife to play on her silver. Not ideal, but at least it's something.

Our main problem is her being able to use them offline , but thanks for the suggestion.
I'll let her know to try that if she gets the shakes too bad and needs her fix

A call to MS today to check on the status revealed that the CS rep didn't forward
the request for two weeks (how that is even possible is beyond me. What'd he have
the note in his pocket, went home with it, then found it after doing the next load of
wash???), so I still have a week + until the 30 day period is up according to them.

It does take at least 30 days. I had totally forgotten that I requested this but about 3 weeks ago I had a voicemail from MS telling me everything was transferred and to redownload from download history. It took way to long for something you would think is easy, but it does work and I can play offline and my wife can also play on her account. They even gave me a follow-up call to make sure it worked.

It took me five and a half months to get mine fixed.

Is there a known issue with disc eject tray not working AND if so...is it covered by the extended 3 yr warranty???

Thanks!

The 3 year extended warranty only covered the red ring.

Had i not bought the extended warranty myself i would have been screwed when my original unit stopped reading discs. It didn't red ring.

I sent mine in (the video problem) last week. According to UPS, it should have gotten there today.
The Xbox support site, where it previously had my serial number, now says
"You have no registered devices."
should I be worried? or do they deregister the unit when they receive it? Or does this just mean they're swapping my unit out?

That's exactly what happened to me the last time I sent mine in. No need to panic.

When you get your 360 back from being repaired, what is the warranty on it?

Is it still 3 years from the original manufacturing date?

Or does a year clock start from the moment you get it back from Microsoft? 6 months?

Thanks!

The warranty on my "new' (replacement/refurbished) unit is now logged as expiring on 04/04/09, a year after they received my original unit. I would assume the three years starts from that date as well.
Not sure what they do if you get your actual unit back.

Anyone know how the alleged scratching of disks issue is? As i said elsewhere, I got my refurb back yesterday, and I'm a little wary of actually putting a disk in (gee, there's a motivation for DD, if all the disks get scratched by the unit, DD looks a lot more attractive.)

From what I gathered with google, it sounds like it is a One Year Warranty from the date it gets "refurbished" and your original 3 year plan from the time you originally purchased, whichever time period expires in last.

So I purchased mine on launch date 11/05 and just got it back 4/08, so my warranty finally ends on 4/09 (instead of 11/08). I think that is right.

So my dad sent his one-month old box back for not reading and messing up his discs. He got back a brand new system ... that couldn't sync with a controller. Now that one is going back. Poor guy ... he just wants to play Oblivion and Halo 3.

My Elite just started showing the RRoD. I bought it back in August when the Elite's were new. The manufacture date is 2007-06-16. Was playing Bully when it locked up. Hopefully the turn-around will be quick since I've got GTA IV preordered!

Update:

I got it back 4/23 - exactly 13 days after dropping it off at UPS store.

I got back the same unit. I will hook it back up this weekend.

Well, even though I had received no call from Microsoft (not that surprising) it looks like the DRM licenses were transfered at some point. Glad it's been resolved, though I still don't understand why they don't have a better system in place for dealing with that, considering the (original) 360's failure rate.

My xbox got the RROD on the 21st and UPS delivered the fixed unit TODAY. Thats 10 days including the weekend and UPS travel time--Not bad at all. My unit was built Nov 05 and they fixed it with no questions.
