For all the dismissive attitudes about party games, I didn't see anybody complaining when Microsoft opened their presentation by demoing Rock Band.

Resident Evil 4 and the Godfather are solid games but if someone played them before there is really no big reason (except for maybe anamorphic) to replay those.

You will have one mini-game collection, but look at how many are released right now, and coming soon. Saying the XBox is full of "killing" games and saying the Wii has variety isn't a fair assessment. The Wii is as guilty of mini-games as the XBox is of "killing" games.

Someone complained because the singer was "obese."

Yeah, those comments were pretty obnoxious.

Because it doesn't seem like nothing but party games are coming out. Those three listed I will ignore.

Thats why I hope Metroid (even without multiplayer) and No More Heroes will live up to the hype. I'm not crazy about the Mario Galaxy trailer, but it is just a trailer.

Did games like Kameo receive the same level of flack for being OG Xbox games at one point?

A game like that would sell a zillion copies even if it sucked.

But along those lines, there's Dragon Quest Swords and No More Heroes.

Now THAT'S the sad state of the industry.

Still, could you imagine the amount of space you'd need to play with a Lightsaber controller? I already have to move my couch when people come over to play Wii Sports. Plus, Lucasarts would be fucked the moment some idiot decides to take a heavy swing at their own TV.

Actually most of the 360 launch titles got a lot of flack for looking like Xbox games. Kameo got a lot of flack because there are parts of the game that you can tell were designed on the 360 vs. Gamecube/xbox levels that didn't get as much polish.

That's different. Many games start development on one system and are later switched to another system. Kameo was never released on any system other than the 360. Twilight Princess and Resident Evil 4 are Gamecube games through and through. The Wii versions are simply ports of the Cube games with added Wiimote support.

They could just make it a lightsaber handle with maybe a detachable blade.

Super Paper Mario and Mario Party 8 started as Cube titles and Zelda could have easily never been released on Cube. It was only released there after basically promising it would be a year earlier.

If you want to get technical, Kameo was originally a GameCube game as well.

But the bottom line is that all consoles end up getting a lot of carryovers from the last generation in their first year.

Watched the Microsoft conf this morning on my DVR. Screw G4 with their commercial breaks during the live event

That's why I'm going to sit here and watch the Nintendo one streaming from Gamespot. 25 minutes and counting. I sure hope they have something worth getting excited over, unlike the snore-fest I watched this morning.

I'd just be happy with a handful of surprises, just new games being announced. I don't need anything earth-shattering (though that's always fun). Metroid DS is probably my biggest want. Sadly, I won't be able to watch this one, I'll just be keeping up with the chat here.

Five minutes! Let's hope the presentation starts off with some high-schoolers playing the Mario theme.
