Wii Fit will be huge, if this can be used as a tool to help with weight loss, I can see non-gamers really getting into wii fit, Good bye Billy Banks, we have Wii Fit.

I too hope that the pad can be used for other things (tony hawk anyone?)

Anyways, there are a few deep games for the gamers, and alot of casual/non-gamer stuff for the non-gamer stuff.

Even if Nintendo ends up not winning the console war, they have the market by the brass balls of the casual market.

Honestly, they have already won the console war for this gen even though the 360 will be a very successful second. They will outsell the 360 and most importantly they will make money by the truckload something MS still struggles to do and something the PS3 may never do.

So far it just seems like small mini-game diversions, and I can't see myself buying a game for exercise since I do that on my own.
I'd imagine if you're a gym-addict, you probably wouldn't get much of a work-out from step aerobics and yoga. But for the average couch potato, this is easily more exercise than they'd generally get in a week. I haven't played the game, but from the videos and write-ups, I could see how some of the step/dance type games could definately work up a sweat (especially for my fat ass). I think that while yoga and balancing might not be as hard as weight training or a spinning class, you'd still get a work-out and burn calories from holding positions and balancing.

This certainly isn't for everyone, but I'm interested in it because I hate gyms and generally dislike excercise that doesn't involve a real activity (i.e. I'd usually like to ride a bike than ride a stationary bike). Wii Sports and it looks like Wii Fit take the approach of making these things into games and then add the idea of goals and competion (the whole comparison with others in your house thing). My wife would also probably really like this because she likes Yoga and finds it relaxing and it does give her a work-out. Having something that tracks her progress would probably be really appealing to her. She liked the video on Nintendo's site for Wii Fit. I think this will be a day-1 buy for me.

There was an interview with Miyamoto where he said that 3rd Party developers have already approached him about using the board for "traditional games." When asked what he thought might be a good fit for it, he said a snowboarding game. If you could use it in conjuction with a Wii-mote, I see even more potential.

When it comes to home exercise equipment it doesn't matter if it provides a good workout or not. All that matters is the marketing. And the nice thing is that when this goes in your garage with all the other abandoned workout equipment, it takes up a lot less room.

I'm not a fatass, but I'm interested in Wii Fit simply to have something to "get the blood flowing" essentially. I go out jogging but it's so damn boring. This would be nice to have and I can throw some TV on DVD on the little TV or something.
