Some of the power pad games were pretty intensive. It just wasn't mainstream back then.

So what time do we meet back here for Sony? They have everything to prove, I expect them to reveal most of their hand.

They don't expect old gamers to watch. They expect mainstream press to watch and write about it, and have old gamers read about it later.

honestly, they've been doing it for a long time, but as stated previously, it wasn't mainstream

Yeah, I'm expecting something similar from Sony, although the fact that they're in the worst position right now means that they might drop a big surprise or two to drum up more interest.

No but WiiFit will definitely hit the mainstream press a lot faster than Scene It will.

The conference isn't for gamers. It's for investors, publishers, etc.

They'll easily steal the show because ANYTHING they show is going to be more than the black void that is the PS3 library at the moment. Hopefully they've got something that goes beyond just "anything" and is big enough to sell some systems.

It is now that it's being broadcast live on G4.

Metroid looks good. I thought about waiting due to the lack of online play and Blue Dragon coming out, but after those videos I might get it sooner.

Eh on the zapper and thumbs down on the steering wheel. I hope those don't increase the price of games. If they do hopefully you can get the games separately. The zapper I could see having a use, but the steering wheel is useless.

Zelda and Ninja Gaiden looked good, I'm excited for those games.

Mario Galaxy, I'll get it, but I'm not crazy about it yet.

Hori is making an arcade stick for the Wii, hopefully it will be out in time for Smash Bros.

I don't know about the exercise game either. My apartment has a gym.

MS and Nintendo had decent showings, but outside of RE 5 and Metroid nothing Earth shattering.

I have a a Wii, and apparently you and I are the only ones excited about these. When I was reading about these (before checking here), I was like, "This is cool!" Then I come here and see everyone is shitting on them.

Oh well.. I'm certainly Nintendo's target market.

I don't think anyone is "shitting" on it. Just not all that enthused about it.

There was only one prominent shitter.. most people were either interested or acknowledging the fact that they're not the audience for them.

Yeah, I'm not particularly interested. I don't need the Wii to exercise since I do that on my own, and more peripherals don't impress me. I can see how these would be appealing for those that love things like Wii Sports, especially the "non-gamers" that bought the Wii though. It will probably generate a ton of press, enough that mom's and dad's will catch wind.

For someone that's over the novelty, things like Mario, Metroid, and Smash Bros are way more interesting.

Hmm... Pixy, still want to dispute my statement that a lot of Wii owners are not gamers? This is fact. By gamers, I mean people who are going to buy and play enough games to support the console throughout its life cycle. Wii is indeed being bought by older people and people not traditionally into consoles.

Now, this is not necessarily a bad thing. It is actually a good thing. The Wii has its place, but I don't see it winning back the top position in terms of third party support as someone said in the Xbox thread.

Also, the Wii's low attach rate is a bigger deal than what people are making it out to be. Attempting to explain it away by saying their is a lack of quality titles really doesn't help matters much.

BTW, I have a Wii, Zelda, WiiPlay, Rayman, and (of course) Wii Sports. I enjoyed them for a while, but the Wii collects dust unless I have friends over. I don't see much on the horizon that will change that. I refuse to pay the exorbitant prices for VC games that I already bought once in the past 20 years, so those titles are of no appeal to me.

[EDIT- What I am saying is that I am not sure that the Wii market for "traditional" games such as Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc., is going to be that much bigger than it was for the GC. The Wii seems poised to be the "non-game" console of choice, and there is definitely a market for that. It is a breath of fresh air in that respect, but Nintendo needs to be very careful or it will get old very quickly to non-gamers. I have non-gamer friends for whom it already has. If the appeal to non-gamers ends up being a fad, then I am not sure the Wii has enough hardcore gamers left over to maintain its position.]

They brought out the zapper, but then showed Metroid being played without it.

Damn, I can't edit posts for some reason while I'm at work.

I was going to say that was odd after promoting it like that.

Well the major reason for a lower attach rate for the Wii is because it already comes with a free game. If Wii Sports was sold seperately, you can bet that the software attach rate would be higher.

As for the third party situation. The Wii may not become the place for major third party games, but compared with N64 and Gamecube, the Wii already has more announced third party support than both those systems combined. All the big third party developers have announced Wii games. So Nintendo has improved the third party problems of the past.

I think both the remote and nunchuck have gyro functions in Metroid.. it wouldn't work in the Zapper shell. Though, I think it'd be cool to have a collection of all the NES light gun games reimaged, Duck Hunk, Hogan's Alley, Gumshoe, etc. The shooting gallery in Wii Play was a bit of a tease.

Good point. You'd think that'd be the perfect way to show it off.

Give me Lethal Enforcers and I'd be happy. I always loved light gun games.

They should do a light gun collection and package it with the zapper, like they do with Wii Play, and charge $30.

I'm just worried what this will do to game pricing. Umbrella Chronicles doesn't look like a $50 game, but will be if the zapper is included.

If they are doing light gun games, I want House of the Dead.
